I have paid as low as 43.00 if I bid it on Priceline-I've actually lived in Pittsburgh and visit often still. Call them and plead the case to them. It's a friendly town, so if it is not a busy week for them, they may hook you up.

Priceline, by the way is the single best resource for everyone traveling to multiple cities for interviews. At little time learning the system and you are golden. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com and you can learn how to do it pretty easily. You pretty much cannot go wrong bidding a hotel in the University Center district. They are all good, close and have shuttles.

I haven't paid more than 70.00 for a hotel in a very long time....it works..

I saw that place while I was there. It is pretty much right across the street from campus, but it looked pretty expensive. What did you pay?

So AMCAS screws up & gives me a 33M & on recoring 33N (I think they still have it wrong. I should sue them to really give me the right score). Anyway, the question is, should I call up every program I am applying to, to make sure they see my new shiny score or will the programs automatically consider my new score.
Any experiences/suggestions?

There's like no difference between an M and an N. I wouldn't worry about it. If you have an M or up you're good, and it doesn't really matter what you have as long as it's an M.

Oh also, is Oakland relatively safe? My flight gets in around 5, so I should be off from the 28X stop around 6 when it's dark/getting dark. Would it be safe for me to walk the 4 or so blocks to the hotel with my luggage etc? (I'm a petite female). Or should I just suck it up and get a cab?
Oakland is pretty safe. It's very college-like.

A) You really don't need to post this in more than one thread. You're really just going to annoy people.

B) An N is far from a 'new shiny score'.. It actually still sort of sucks. They already see the 33, don't show them you can't read directions on a prompt.

I'd leave it alone.

. Sort of? It actually sucks, period.

Well, at least most schools don't really care much about essay scores. I think your 33 is enough to show them what you're made of.

I was walking around the area at around 1 AM. It seems plenty safe, especially at 6.

I'm interviewing here on Friday. Anyone have advice? I looked at the interview feedback and it seems pretty chill. Also, anyone else applying PSTP?

What do you have to brace yourself for? MORE good news?

If I get in I'm totally applying PSTP

I feel like my interview here was forever ago, what is PSTP again? I know I have information on it at home, but I'm not at home. Is it 5 years with a year of research and no tuition?

yes

The worst that can happen is that you only have seven acceptances instead of eight.

Was it specific in which day they'll send the decisions?

More like the worst that can happen is that we only barely survive with one acceptance at our state school.

he was referring to the person that already had 7 acceptances

and also

the worst that can happen is that you dont get into med school and thats probably not the worst that could happen either i guess

And you'll have one instead of two. Using that reasoning, you're already accepted, so do you no longer care?

It's safe to say that we all want to get into as many schools as possible. No one can blame anyone else for that.

But for those of us fortunate enough to get in somewhere already we shouldn't act like it's the end of the world if we don't get into every other school after that.

👍

Question: For the moral dilemma question, did anybody write about how you chose to do something illegal?

Agreed. I just find it odd to see "Anyone bracing themselves for next week?" as anything other than someone really anxious to hear from a school they liked a lot.

I was complete in July. Are there still interviews being given out or is that a rejection by now?

Tried asking this a few days ago, but...does anyone know if there's a place at the admissions office to keep our luggage? I don't have that much time to get to my flight, so I probably need to leave straight from the med school...thanks

There's a closet in the admissions office for luggage.

are we still expecting admissions decisions this week?

probably means rejection. I'm in the same boat, although, Pitt wasn't my top choice because of geography so I'm OK about it. Great school though, would have really liked to have been able to interview. Le sigh, you can't get them all.

I'm curious about this too. We're expecting snail mail, right?

I know that the application website will also have your decision, but you wont be notified of the update (AKA: reload every 10 minutes this week).

someone should nag them and see when this week we'll hear

I'm at work otherwise i think I'd be tempted enough to do so!

Someone step up to the plate!

Who has the cojones?

Not me by the way though I'm the one suggesting it

Rejected via email. Complete July. Le sigh.

Kind of expected it...but rejection.

"I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. My review of your application tells me how hard you have worked toward becoming a physician. I extend my best wishes for your future career."

At least they made the rejection letter sound more personal. 🙂

Sorry to hear about the rejections and best of luck with your applications.

I hope this means Pitt is updating our status. :xf:

Sorry to hear guys 🙁 I'm hoping that this at least means those of us that have interviewed will hear a decision today.

Reeejected 🙁

After a month of silence from all med schools, I am hoping this isn't how November is going to continue... a long string of pre-interview rejections is not what I'm looking for at this point.

Rejected here too...complete early September. Oh well! Good luck to the rest of you!

ditto. complete since august. on the bright side that's one less school i gotta worry about. good luck all !
