Yeah, received the email yesterday noon, replied last night with a short but strong letter of intent, and received the acceptance this morning by like 11am (Pacific time).

I also think that those receiving the letter were disproportionately represented in this forum. Do not dispair! At least one person who got the email withdrew, so, I'm sure there is still room.

Seriously, best of luck.

congrats man. what a crazy 24 hrs huh?

Oh, it's been an even crazier last 2 months. This is my first acceptance, and the only one I care about!!!!

wow...if this was my first acceptance i would be dancing up and down and writing ONLY IN CAPS 😀 congrats!

wow even better. thats really good to hear. im glad it all worked out in the end!

Yeah, the restraint reflected by lowercase comments is definitely not accurate! :soexcited::clap:

Oh, man. I was so fed up with the waiting. I even started looking into SMP's, in case I didn't get in this year. Now I've begun planning a nice vacation before school starts, and a weekend of festivities befitting the occasion!!

By the way, to those who are still waiting: I was placed on the waitlist like the last week of February, so I doubt they are going by chronological order. My stats alone were also not that impressive, but I think I had a good story behind them, and most of all, an excellent fit with the school's philosophy. I'm glad Pitt recognized that last part!

It looks like Pitt actually cares about intent to attend... I suggest a barage of LoI's for those who really want to attend!

Accepted!!!!

Off of the waitlist, and I recieved that "are you still interested" e-mail yesterday. I had sent in a letter of interest/intent/whatever-it's-called near the end of February, so I called the admissions office asking about it. Said I'm still interested, and now I've got an acceptance!

CONGRATS GUYS! Especially the 1st timer! Nothing for me but I'm not giving up yet 😳

Congrats to the recently accepted! 👍

:luck: Good luck to those still waiting! :luck:

I 😍 Pitt!

so to secure our spot for the incoming class, all we have to do is send the two forms that were attached in the email right??

there isn't any money we have to send them to hold our spot, correct?

thanks

Got that "are you interested email", responded that very night, and got in yesterday too 🙂 really happy about the acceptance!

Yea, I think I remember there being 1 or 2 forms that needed to be sent in. No money

Also, we just received the itinerary for second look weekend yesterday. Dunno if you received it with the acceptance but if not it should be coming soon.

Ok, good to know about the 2 forms. So Excited about this!

Who's going to second look? I am pretty sure that I'll be attending here next year, but had another interview scheduled for that same date. I figured I would just cancel the interview and change my flight to Pitt instead.

Sorry to hear that Rockaction. I think you definitely have a shot at Pitt, though. Is it your top choice?

P.S. To what fax should we send the signed forms? to Mrs. Bonetti's?

oh, I was looking on Facebook last night, and I couldn't find a Pitt med Class of 2014. Is it no longer cool and I somehow missed the memo?😕

yeah but I wouldn't go if I got in after May.

congrats tho

you seem like a nice guy. hope you get in. but i agree, if pulled off a waitlist after may or so, its probably best to forget about it and just go with your other choices (which are great btw). dont wanna be one of those people who get pulled off a day before class and then actually show up!

anybody filled out the financial aid forms yet? i'm filling mine out and i don't know whether to put on campus or off campus housing. i forgot: do most people live on campus (ie school provided housing) or in independently owned apartments?

I put on campus because I plan on staying at darragh st. Apartments at least for first year. My host told me it was a mix of a good portion staying very close to school (darragh, etc) and people living in the neighboring communities.

From what I remember, my student host also said it was about evenly split between those on darragh and those that lived off campus.

I put on-campus. I'm going to be completely new to Pittsburgh, so I thought it would be a better idea to live in a really convenient place for 1st year while I get a feel for the city, even if it is more costly. Plus the apartments looked really nice! and they come with their own washer and drier!

Oh, coincidentally, I was looking over the MSAR, and it says that we do have to pay a deposit of $100, although it gives a range of dates for it (May 17-21, i think). So returning the 2 forms is not how we will ensure our place in the class. I suppose they will just wait until after the May 15 deadline to make us commit, like it said in the "are you interested?" email.

My email was not forwarding to my main account properly, and I just found out I was accepted on Wednesday! Very excited!!!

nope, nothing. 🙁

Oh Well, Congratulations! 👍

I got the "are you interested" email at 1 oclock today. I responded at 2 (5 pittsburgh time) and haven't heard back. Is there anyone who received the are you interested email, said yes, and didn't get accepted within a business day? I'm still not sure what it means 😳

I got a response within a day, but you might not, it being Friday and all.

Don't worry! It turns out that email is an unofficial acceptance (from collective experience so far). They may take a little longer with the weekend but I suspect you are as good as accepted if you replied with a yes.

I'm going to risk it and say early congratulations!!!

I agree with the d1ony5u5. The admissions office probably closes at 5:00, and now it's the weekend so they aren't open at all. Don't stress about it. My guess is you'll hear on Monday.

thanks dio & lateparty, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear =). I guess a tentative celebration is in order! I'll let you all know what happens monday

I received that letter a week ago and just withdrew. Best of luck to all and I hope it works out well for you guys.

Just had a chance to go back and look over the last couple days of posts. For what it's worth, I didn't get an "are you interested" email the day before I was accepted. Nor did I send an updated letter of interest when they sent out the "waitlist to move soon" email, since I'd already sent a letter of interest / update email in November.

Also, my stats really aren't particularly impressive, especially compared to the rest of the SDN crowd (30R, 3.7 science, 3.6 overall - lower due to a mediocre freshman year). I'm a non-trad with impressive experience, especially in research. I think I'm a good fit for the school, and I felt like my interviews went really well.

Anyway, this is meant to give people some hope. This whole process can be so nerve-wracking.

Does anyone know when we'll hear about the CSTP / PSTP programs?

I'm an ms1 and i'm pretty sure the pstp interviews were completed in the last month. However, if you want to confirm it, i would recommend emailing the program. congrats on getting in!

anyone else have graduation over 2nd look weekend?

University of Michigan's graduation is May 1st, so I'm only going to be able to go for Thursday and Friday, and then will have to come back Friday night for graduation Saturday morning.

Sucks since I heard how fun it was during my interview day. I really wanted to stay for the whole thing to meet as many people that I would be going to school with as possible.

Just got the acceptance email! I guess I was okay to celebrate early. I was beginning to worry I had a bottle of champagne to undrink.

Congrats again, Mcatbear!!
How sure are you that you are going to attend Pitt?

Is there a Pitt Class of 2014 facebook group?

Not that I could find... I have the suspicion that the unspoken consensus is that we are too cool for that. We also lack a thread on the Class Threads in the Allopathic Forums.

This Does give me hope- I have very mediocre stats by Pitt standards, too 😀. haha, seriously though, congrats! hoping I'm next :xf::xf::xf:

I just received my acceptance packet, and looking through it, I couldn't find any mention of medical forms to fill out (like a physical, Ab titers to common infectious diseases, etc). Will this come later on, or do we do it when we start at Pitt in the fall? I'm a bit confused given that other schools seem to want you to this before all else...

Hey
Did anyone hear back post PSTP interview? I thought it was supposed to be today....

I was under the impression the meeting for PSTP decisions is today or tomorrow, so we wouldn't hear back until next week. I may be wrong though.

Hey guys! After seeing how just about every other med school and their mom have Facebook groups for the incoming Class of 2014, I decided to make one for Pitt!

The group is set to private in order to avoid spam, but feel free to join by requesting an invite! The group name is "University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine - Class of 2014"

Hope to meet many of you at Second Look and all of you in the Fall!

Financial aid award letters should be sent before or on May 4, according to the acceptance packet.
