I quit counting, but I am at least at 10 weeks.

At this point, I don't care about Vermont anymore. I would not attend an interview even if offered. I am already pretty burned out on interviewing...my wallet is definitely burned out.

I may go ahead and click on that "withdrawal" button soon.

hey all my September 17th interviewees,

There was a student ambassador that gave group tours, he was the only one of the four that was not Caucasian. Anybody remember his name? PM me please

I received the small pool status page notification today after 7-8 weeks.

Here's to hopin' for an interview.

just checked my status on the webpage, got waitlisted T_T oh well.

small pool as well,

I want to get out of the pool, take a shower, get all nice and clean, throw on my suit and tie and go to the interview.

:xf::xf::xf:

Good luck guys

I recently was small pooled also about 2 days after being completed. Is basically everyone here small pooled, or are some people outright rejected?

Oooh! My status changed!

From: "We have received all application materials that you have submitted. Your application is under preliminary review. This review of your file may take several (6-8) weeks.

Once the review of your file is complete your status will be updated."

Baby steps to the interview. Baby steps to medical school!

Was anyone accepted or rejected here so far? It seems like we've only heard about the OOS waitlisters. Strange, no?

Ya that does seem strange. I guess since they only accept people from Vermont at first that part kind of makes sense, maybe no one from vermont uses sdn😛 i wonder if they just put every oos'er on the waitlist first, then wait to reject until they see how many people accept their offer?

Sigh...I'm from Vermont and I got waitlisted...over their average stats, too. I hear that they generally waitlist everyone until their application deadline is past. Enjoy the next 2 months, everyone 🙂

During the interview day, I asked all the students I met whether they got waitlisted and literally everyone said they were waitlisted first, and then accepted a few days/weeks later. Don't take it personally. I believe it's just their protocol.

I have a crazy theory...

maybe they want to see who would truly wants to go there, those are the ones who will sent letters of intent after they've been waitlisted...

Just sayin

I'M IN!!! Got pulled off the waitlist half an hour ago! FIRST ACCEPTANCE!!!

I GOT ACCEPTED!! 😀

Got an email this afternoon!

First acceptance and I love the school!!

Accepted!

Notified by e-mail, interviewed on 9-17, accepted this morning, I LOVE this school 🙂

im jumping on that train, also got accepted this AM yesssss

did any of u guys with acceptances send updates to UVM beforehand?

Mine says that I'm in the pool that might be extended for an interview...Oh well at least I'm not flat out rejected yet.

I guess saturday makes sense. They said the committee meets on friday. Wishful thinking for next saturday...

Btw, I didn't send any thank you's, updates or letter of intents/interests during any part of the process. So I doubt it makes much of a difference

No, don't worry. You have great numbers and it's still early. UVM interviews pretty late compared to everyone else, I believe April. Have you been out of school for a while? I have heard UVM likes students who have some life experience after school (I'm guessing you're work experience was after college?).

Actually most of that experience was during my undergrad years. I really worked my ass off. I finished my second undergrad degree in Dec 2007 (B.S. biochemistry then B.S. Biology) went to work full time as a medical technologist at my local hospital and went back to graduate school for my masters in biochem the next fall because I didn't get into med school that year. I think my apps were just submitted far too late before (Oct-December). This time I made sure to have everything done by the end of July. So far, it hasn't helped though. I was waitlisted at University of Connecticut SOM last time around and they sent me an invitation to interview as soon as they received my application. I'm assuming that's a really good sign. I'm just a bit frustrated with the rest. The Uconn (I'm getting my masters at the Uconn non-medical campus) pre-med adviser told me to stop worrying about my apps when I asked him to review them for me. He basically said, just get someone to look over your personal statement, don't worry about writing much for your activities, they don't really care to read it anyway, and then he said something about my scores giving me a great shot for the Ivy League med schools.... obviously scores aren't everything, but I do have an incredible amount of medically related experience. Oh well, I guess I just have to wait and try to remain calm.

Hi all,
I am a Vermonter, and have a few questions:

My main reason for coming on is to see the time line between interview and decision - their site says something like "shortly" or "soon" after interviewing that they will notify you, but it seems like it is taking a bit longer than that.

Would people generally say about a month? And they found out via email? Or via the status page online?
Thanks!!

ugh. i came to this thread to check on the whole 6-8 weeks thing, as i have recently passed the 8 week mark. Guess I am still in for a few more weeks of waiting. It's fine, UVM. I've got all year . . .

And congrats to all you who got accepted!!!!!!! 👍😀

I kinda laughed when I read your comments about the Uconn pre-med advisor. I am currently attend Uconn as an undergrad and got the same cynical vibe from him that med schools care mostly about applicant numbers. I personally feel like numbers get you the interview, but your personality/experience gets you into the school. Good luck from a fellow Husky!

Haha, he is a nice man, and does your committee letter very fast, and sends them out whenever you want him to. Other than that tho, try to get your info from SDN or the pre-med society (altho I didn't think they were that great).

Nice, I just joined all you small pooled folks

If someone gets out of the small pool and into the interview "pool" please post it here so that the small pool people know that there has been some movement...

Yeah I have been small pooled since mid-August so it would be very nice to know if anyone's being fished out of the pool!

Just got small pooled after 9 weeks on 'review in 6-8' week screen. Sounds like a hold to me, but I can hope. Looking back, it seems that people have come out of the small pool for interviews but most of them were a while ago. I don't there have been many/any in recent weeks. Someone please post and prove me wrong. 🙂

Application Complete and Under Review: 9/3
Small Pool: 10/2
Interview Invite: 10/27
Interview set for January 12th (No dates left in December)

I might withdraw and not go to the interview here. If I do, there'll be a slot open on 11/10. Kinda risky for me to withdraw before getting an acceptance, but I don't think Burlington is for me. Must decide soon...!

I've only lived in SF and LA my whole life so I'm used to big cities. But the school was awesome, and the city was nice and quaint in its own way. Most importantly, of the seven interviews I've been to so far, students here were the nicest... although maybe tooo nice, it almost looks scripted. Is it like this everyday?

I've interviewed at a few schools that were in smaller towns, and all the people from these areas were incredibly nice and friendly! It feels so strange to see strangers smiling at your or even starting conversations. The atmosphere was a lot more relaxed and peaceful, but I still prefer the metropolitan feeling. Plus, it's kinda cold up there haha.

Hey all,

I just found out I have an interview on Dec 3rd, anyone else in this group? I wanted to see if anyone had stayed with a host at UVM and how that was in terms of vicinity to campus and stuff. Also how far is the airport from the campus? They said expect to go until 4:30pm and the only flight out that night is 6:15, so I wanted to see if that's enough time or if I should to try scheduling my interview for an earlier time.

Thanks and good luck to all of you.

Mine still says "several"...

I am starting to hate this school. I have been on 2 different holds now that both exceeded their estimated timeframe. At least these other schools that don't tell you anything don't give you any false hope with bad faith estimates...

😀congrats to all the people who got accepted!!

i saw that there was an out of stater that got accepted! maybe there is hope for me... i do love this school. how long did it take you all to find out your status after you interviewed?

also, did the out of staters who got accepted get waitlisted first? i hear that for some reason they waitlist the out of state students...

I just received an interview! I was small pooled yesterday. So excited for VERMONT!

A few days after being put on the "your application is under review, you may receive an interview or may not" message on the application website I received my interview invitation for December 3rd. My application had been completed about mid-September and I received the invite mid-October. Thus in my view the school was extremely prompt. NONE of the other schools I applied to have gotten back to me yet, except BU (I was rejected) - which is rather disconcerting but still better than getting rejection notifications, right? lol.

so i STILL have the 6-8 weeks status, it doesn't even say you're under review and i love how it says we appreciate your patience!! grrrr are you serious vermont?! my patience ended wayy long time ago after submitting my application it in JULY :annoyed:
