i really don't have a clue. i remember there was a problem with my transcript cause UCLA has a really weird chem series. other than that, i remember checking and my status page showing that i was in a group of applicants that maybe offered an interview. is that what is the small pool, i have no idea.

i'm excited that a family friend offered me jetblue standby tickets... so i'm just going to take wed, thur, fri off and get there and back for about 100 bucks. and if i want to spend the weekend in nyc with friends only 50 more. good way to blow off steam after an interview. point being, get to know someone who works at jetblue

good luck all!

Thanks! yea thats the small pool msg.. good luck on your interview 🙂

i really really regret not having friends in any airlines 😛 next time ill ask people's occupations before i invest in further friendships lolll or maybe just get a job there myself 😉

Invited for interview early this week!! Complete late July.

I have heard good things about the curriculum at U Vermont, and that everyone is really nice. But what about clinical experience?

Does anyone know how long they take between the interview and when we find out?

Approximately one month, the committee meets every 2 weeks to review applicant files, however if one ends up at the bottom of pile, they may be bounced to the next com meeting (mine took 6 weeks). You can call the office and find out when the meetings are, but I think they're on Fridays.

And to answer draftpick's question about clinical experience - they have a big, state of the art hospital adjacent to the medical school where you can great clinical experience. The hospital does the most advanced/invasive procedures in Burlington. The facilities at UVM were immaculate and technologically advanced.

At the interview, the admissions guy giving the presentation said they're meeting at the end of Sept. and should have a decision before Oct. 1? I don't know if they'll give the info, but he seemed pretty sure that a decision will be made less than 2 weeks from now.

I am almost at the 8 week mark so the "4 to 6 week" thing is starting to sound a little hollow - anybody else out there in this same boat?

I'm running on 6 weeks, and somehow I doubt it will be complete within the quoted time frame. That said, I have invites at places I'd much rather go to, so I'm not going to beat my head over a school that won't show us the decency of at least completing applications in the order they were submitted, let alone doing so in a timely manner.

I agree with you - I have 6 invites so I have a full plate.

Come October 15, if I get some good news from one of the 2 schools I have already interviewed at, Vermont will be a distant thought anyway. I am just surprised that they are dishing out lots of invites to people who appear to have submitted after me, and I am still getting that hollow "4 to 6 week" msg that is evidently a bad faith estimate.

I was told they are reviewing applicants on Sept. 24th.

Just passed the 8 week mark..

Just passed the 8 week mark..

FWIW, I just sent a msg asking about my status, approaching 8 weeks, etc. There is a messaging system we can use via the online applicant center system.

I got nothing to lose in this process; my cycle is going well, so maybe I am little more emboldened to "rattle the cage" at some of these schools.

If I hear back anything, I will post it here.

Time for UVM to poop or get off the pot...

Got an invite yesterday, but it's a bit too soon for me in my current situation. Has anybody had any experience and/or luck with rescheduling and how that worked out? I'm thinking of maybe trying to push it back to November or something.

They let me reschedule. I think I only pushed it back a week though.

i STILL have the 6-8 weeks msg! I sent in everything mid-late july and its been almost nine weeks now :annoyed:!! anyone in the same boat? is that msg to be complete or to get a decision? im thinking maybe i should consider calling..

Same boat, don't fret!

I just re-scheduled too - I asked to be pushed back 2 weeks and got pushed 3 - not horrible I suppose.

Ditto, but then again I think it's the same story at all of my other schools too.

People are getting interviews, rejections, and even waitlists right and left, some of whom were complete after me. Yet, my file appears to remain untouched. Makes me think it fell in between the couch cushions or left in a corner somewhere...

i just recieved this :

Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

is that equivalent to a hold status? is a hold status here a death sentence? or is this the small-pooled thing?

i know that someone else asked this earlier but i didnt see any responses so i figured i would ask too

yeah, this is what people have been referring to as the "small pool message." don't worry, i think it's good news.

and i took me longer than the quoted 4-6 weeks to be complete (7 or 8, i believe?). i agree: vermont, poop or get off the pot.

Mine got changed to this. IDK what that means, maybe I didn't even get small pooled. When did you submit?

Hi all,

I'm interviewing on Tuesday, October 6th. I'm in need of a hotel/motel (holiday inn! pittbull, anyone?) room for the night of the 5th.

Anyone interested in splitting a room? if so, please PM me.

any advice on where to stay? are there student hosts that i don't know about? places with shuttle to airport AND school?

thanks!

This sounds like a complete message. I'm not sure when I was complete or when my status changed because I did not get any e-mails, but I think I submitted around the first week of august.

I'm def in the same boat with ya'll... starting to get frustrated.

For those interested, on the interview website they now have info up for student hosts.

Very hard to remember that while reading these forums!

I don't know what I'm going to do when Oct. 15th comes around and people start posting acceptances.... 😱:wow:😱

i'm giving you advice in multiple threads now... take a stinkin' SDN vacation! obsessing is not good for you. you'll feel better if you get away from this for a bit-- come back to brag when you get your first interview in a few days or weeks 🙂

easier said than done haha -- but I feel you, for sure. Sometimes it's hard to keep all that in perspective!

Exactly. And as much as SDN freaks me out, it's also good to know there are other people going through the same thing.

And by the same thing, I mean: :bang:

I am on oct 8th, I would be interesting in splitting a room too, pm me if interested.

This gives me an idea...

someone should start an SDN dating section

oh god

that is just a nightmare waiting to happen

although i think there is a user who met her bf on SDN (silverlining or something?)

i thought theres a single's forum, which is pretty sad

but good luck to you guys hearing on monday

Not to be obtuse, but hearing about what on Monday? Thanks 🙂

rumor has it that the committee met on wednesday and they'll be posting their decisions on monday.

You can only be told rejections now, can't you? As far as I know acceptances don't start until Oct. 15th.. So I hope you don't hear anything until then! :-D

haha if that were the case i wouldnt want to hear either! however, some schools do let you know youre accepted before oct 15 like vermont and wake forest (im not really sure how they get around the rule)

I think it's jut not an official acceptance. It sounds kinda fishy to me though. They should just abide by the rules and it'd make us all a little less stressed right?

No one who's interviewed got any updates today right?

Nothing for me...

Me neither! What is this Monday rumor? where did it come from? I thought they had committee meetings on Friday?

I'm dying. Slowly but surely. DY-eeing to know one way or anohter. :xf:
