i guess no harm in calling as cielo said but honestly id doubt they could hrry it up so to speak. Anyways just wanted to say you are right about no LOI at madison. They specifically said at my interview day no updates allowed except at the very end of your faculty interview.yeah i was planning on calling when it was getting to be a few days away from the deadline for the seat deposit. i read that they don't take LOI at madison.
the end of the interview at least for me wasnt let me say why im the best fit here and basically verbalize some LOI. It was more just to update them on any new acitvities or things that the committee should consider when thinking about your app.even if you said at the interview that you were committed to this school if you get in, would it have made that much of a difference in your review?? i assume a lot of ppl would say they are committed, even if they are really not, if it did increase your chances of getting in.
i think its probably understood that since about 60% of the class (or some high amount) is all basically from UW madison, or some other UW school, that most of you want to stay in WI and want to attend. I think more for OOS they would question this. I know i was asked why WI and why i would move all the way from cali to the snow of WI. Also since they do actually accept a good amount of OOS, maybe the whole wanting to stay in madison isnt as high a prioirty or they may care a bit less? IDk just speculating lol. I just know i want to come here and praying for good news in a few weeks! btw when did u interview storm? Just curiousi agree Bluesteel about staying in wisconsin. i thought for sure they would have left us express something about this. i read somewhere that madison wants to train students that plan on practicing in wisconsin when they are done with school and residency, in which i want to do. but there wasn't a time or a question that could lead to me saying this. did you get in to madison bluesteel??

For those that interviewed or will interview, what airport did you fly into? Also, when does the interview day end?
dane county airport in madison. day ends appoximately 230 or so. Though mine ended at like 1:30 or much earlier as most of the staff and the dean was gone at some AMA conference or something. For those that interviewed or will interview, what airport did you fly into? How long will Madison be sending interviews? Everyone in this thread seems to have interviewed already. The 5 people I know in RL that applied, all either have interviewed already or got rejection letters months ago.
Yet I'm still sitting here, no interview invites, but not rejected. I find this odd, last year I got rejected pre-interview back in early October 1st.
I mean I would love to have some hope and all, but seeing as how everyone and their mom already interviewed, and many of you guys got rejected post interview (and were clearly better applicants than me if you got interview invites like 3 months ago). I don't know, sometimes I think I would just prefer if they got it over with and told me SOMETHING. I hate how the med schools toy with your nerves and keep you on edge for months at a time.
*sigh*

Has anyone heard anything recently? Seems like the decisions are coming out very few and far between. I expect the adcom will be taking a Thanksgiving and Christmas break as well, so does anyone know when those breaks are/how long they last?
We were told at my interview day that the adcom would be meeting during the Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks, but not the week of the New Year. They review 15-20 applications a week when they do meet, so decisions should be coming out slowly but surely through December. They're also not interviewing this week which should help reduce the backlog of files to be reviewed.
Do you know which day they're meeting during Thanksgiving break? There's a time-sensitive issue that I thought I had most of the week to resolve before my app is reviewed. We were told at my interview day that the adcom would be meeting during the Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks, but not the week of the New Year. same here guess we interviewed on same day...man i hope to get in it was such an amazing day. People back home are always like wisconsin why did you like that place lol.well i'm glad they meet up during thanksgiving and christmas week. i really hope to find out before christmas. my 4th week is next week friday. hopefully i find something out not to long after that.
Thanks for the info. I was wondering if they were going to stick to their typical Friday meeting, but I guess not. I suppose this means I still have the rest of the week to get some information to them.Well, not exactly. But tomorrow is Thanksgiving and Friday all of UW-Madison has a mandatory furlough day (i.e.. no one is working). So my assumption is that they already met or are meeting today.

I asked and the answer is no, surprisingly. So I haven't heard anything back yet from UW, but I was wondering whether UW allows a letter of intent or updates for applicants that get waitlisted? Just curious since I know they don't allow them between your interview and your accepted/rejected/waitlisted letter. You would think they would want to know what applicants have been doing while applying and whether they will actually matriculate if accepted, does anyone know?
Don't worry. Mine was 2 students, 3 interviewees. After a brief ice breaker, the rest of the hour consisted of the students eating lunch while fielding our questions for them.SO I'm starting to get nervous about my interview coming up. Can anyone tell me about the student panel interview? It's 2 students and 4 applicants? What's the environment, do people have to compete to answer? WTF!?![]()
the environment at mine and i think many others was super relaxed and its not really stressful. They just want to make sure you can play nice with others as they put it to me. Can you fuinction in a group, not be the odd awkward guy, and seem like you have some semblance of a personality 🙂. I was a bit worried about it but i actually liked it a lot it was a good chance to learn a lot about the school. Theyll ask a few questions and everyone answers nothing thats too big a deal. I know its hard to imagine but its nothing to worry about its a nice and relaxed environment. Most of mine was us asking them questions and then they each had like 1-2 questions that they had all 4 of us answer...they werent the typical ones like why medicine or w/e so no worries.SO I'm starting to get nervous about my interview coming up. do they let ppl who applied to the WARM program know they got in (assuming interviewed the same day) or not before they let ppl who did regular md? i had a friend who applied warm and told her that they said 6-8 weeks before hearing instead of 4-6 weeks. but i had a friend last year who did warm found out after 4 weeks and she interviewed in late december?
that what i was told at the interview and by the 2nd yr i stayed with. They need to get to the 11/6 group already 🙂the adcom meets every week, correct?
FWIW, they did the 10/23 group either the week before Thanksgiving or the week before that. The letters should arrive this week or next week for 11/6.that what i was told at the interview and by the 2nd yr i stayed with. They need to get to the 11/6 group already 🙂

yay now to obsessively check the mailbox.FWIW, they did the 10/23 group either the week before Thanksgiving or the week before that. The letters should arrive this week or next week for 11/6.
Our interview group was told that they randomly review 15-20 applications a week from the pile of people who have been interviewed. In other words, there is no preference given to applications based on interview date.

Hmm... weird since I was told that my app wouldn't reach the committee for about 2.5 weeks post-interview and a friend got his decision around the 3rd week after he interviewed, which seem to be consistent with one another. Our interview group was told that they randomly review 15-20 applications a week from the pile of people who have been interviewed. I'll just assume you're right, though, and start to relax a bit.
Thanks for the info! The chair of the committee was out of the office on my interview day so it's good to hear what I missed. When the chairman of the admissions committee talked to my group, he said the minimum time it would take to receive a response would be 2-3 weeks. The week after you interview, your interviewer submits their review and then your application is bundled (whatever the heck that means, but it's the exact word he used) and placed in the "ready to be evaluated" pile. Once your file is selected five members of the committee have a week to review it, and then they present it at the adcom meeting, where a decision is made. After that, it takes a couple of days for a letter to be sent out. So, all in all, 2-3 weeks minimum (which is clearly possible, as in your friend's case), but the final timeline is totally dependent on when your application is randomly selected for review.
Based on that, I would think the earliest the 11/6 group could hear if their application was chosen the first week it was eligible would have been early this week (keeping in mind the recent holiday). But, again, there's no saying when your application will be chosen. Which, in my opinion, sucks. 👎
I would rather have a longer waiting period, but know for sure when I was going to hear, than be in limbo for 4-8 weeks!
I heard back approximately 3 weeks after interview. Dr. Crouse called personally. (He is pretty much the ****....) Good luck!do they let ppl who applied to the WARM program know they got in (assuming interviewed the same day) or not before they let ppl who did regular md? i had a friend who applied warm and told her that they said 6-8 weeks before hearing instead of 4-6 weeks. but i had a friend last year who did warm found out after 4 weeks and she interviewed in late december?
im sure you are right...if i remember correctly mary (or someone at the interview day) said something like it wont take longer then 6 weeks...so im sure theres some sort of safeguard in there. I just want my acceptance letter so i can withdrawal from all schools and relax and move to WI lol.it seems odd that they just randomly grab 15-20 apps. what keeps your app from getting passed over and passed over? in theory it can happen and next thing you know its been over 8 weeks and you haven't heard anything. there must be some system in place to make sure they have reviewed your app atleast 6 weeks after your interview.
