every week, i like to predict that I'm getting rejected from like 2 schools. makes life easier
 
Hey,

I got rejected today as well. I'm sure all of us that got rejected just didn't "fit" the image the admissions committee was looking for. I mean I've gotten six interviews so far, and five of them are top25 schools, so don't worry too much about not getting in here. I don't think it means that if you get rejected here, you won't get into another top tier school.
 
I still haven't checked my mail. But then again, I only got their confirmation August 4th...so
 
Got a call from the 'rents ... rejection 🙁

Third one, I'm on a roll. LOL.

thats why i am glad my first one was WFU . . . i wasn't too broken up over it. vandy will definitely suck more . . . but after seeing all the great applicants posting rejections in here, if i'm next, at least i know i'm in good company.

Vandy was a reach school for me so I'm not rolling on the floor with loud wails :laugh:. WFU will definitely sting though and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
 
So what date are we on now guys?

I haven't heard anything but I'm expecting a rejection to join my five other ones 😉

Has anyone else from the 7/14 acknowledgment group not heard anything? I live in Cali, so I'm not sure if the mail's really slow or if I've just gotten snubbed again...

im from LA and received the 7/14 check. i still haven't heard from anything.
 
Just signed up for 9/28 interview. hope to see some of you there.

Admittedly, this process got a lot easier when I stopped expecting good news. Pessimism ftw.
 
Interview in two days...yikes. I need to mentally prepare...
 
I was in the 7/14 cohort...and just got an interview invite today! So there's hope -- maybe your letters are waiting to arrive in the mail!
 
Also, I'm trying to fill this secondary out ASAP, but since I can't see, could someone share when the earliest dates are for available interviews??
 
is there student hosting here? if so, how do i sign up for it?

Vanderbilt has actually already started interviewing. The first interview date was 8/11! Availability of remaining interviews will likely change a lot between now and whenever you submit the secondary, so just focus on crankin that baby out 🙂
 
Wait! What about English classes?! I took AP credit for all required English! But I did have writing credit in college...

It did say "English/Composition" I thought...perhaps those writing classes count then - I would ask!
 
I got my notification 8/4 too. I am guessing by earlier applicants time line, we won't be hearing back till 9/4-9/10. What do you guys think?

I am moving out September 3rd. All the mail will go to my parents' house. How am I supposed to obsessively check the mailbox now???
 
Hey guys! Many of you may already know this, but we do have student hosting available the night before your interviews (perhaps even the night after if your host is EXTRA nice).

As far as I know, the system is up and running very smoothly now. If any of you want to stay with a SDN'er, PM me your name and undergrad institution before signing up online and I'll try to arrange it so that you can stay with me. I'm from CA! I have male and female roommates so I don't mind hosting either gender.

I'm pretty sure they don't let it slide. I talked in person with the head of admissions about the requirements. She said that they do let you swap the English/Writing requirements with History, Philosophy, Ethics, and classes like that.

i'm sorry Caveat. 🙁 were you in the 7/14 or 8/4 group?

i just found out the orgo 2 class i was enrolled in for fall got canceled due to low enrollment . . . so if i get an interview it will definitely make my life more complicated.

not that i want to get rejected. but if i do, knowing that i don't have to lose any more sleep over this freaking orgo 2 mess is a pretty good silver lining.

That's the one reason why I wouldn't have been too sad if I had gotten rejected - the 2 english classes. Well, I'm seeing what I can do right now. It is Vandy, after all. :laugh:
 
It went pretty well! My interviewer was nice and all the fellow applicants were really cool. Vandy is beautiful, and has a great curriculum and happy students.

unfortunatelly I can access my mail until aug 31st because I am overseas. Can anyone who received an interview letter tell me if they had a deadline by which I needed to respond to them by? Please let me know asap.

This is how I feel too. Vandy is sooo nice. They love love love their students and do a lot to keep them happy. The only bad thing about this trip is that my plane home got canceled so I'm stuck here for another night and I can't even go exploring. But it happens.
 
I'm really glad to hear you guys had positive interview experiences. I'm flying out tomorrow for a Monday interview and I'm so excited (and queasy) all at once!
 
Alright, finally submitted the secondary and interviewing Friday, Oct 2nd during my fall break. This is so I don't miss any school and can actually make a road trip out of this. So much better than just flying in and flying out the next day.

I fly out today for my interview - so excited! Anyone quickly know what cab fare is like between the airport and the med school?

$25 typically...ask for the flat rate from the airport to "downtown" if you can
