This happened to my cousin last year who eventually didn't go, maybe they reviewed his app twice, I don't know. But don't lose hope, they look at WL'ers every go-around.

...and continue to not accept them. Oh well.

Congrats, though!

crapp, guess I will be getting a rejection or WL soon.

The waitlist is a rejection here, pretty much. But they call it a "waitlist". No one gets officially rejection post-interview from what I've seen on SDN.

I interviewed here Oct 30. I don't think my interview went that well. So i am expecting my waitlist soon. Those come by mail or email? Don't feel bad rockaction. You have acceptances. I still havent heard back from but 1 of the 5 schools I have interviewed at. I still have a few more after the holiday season. They are taking their sweet time. Driving me crazy.

Excuse me mine was Oct 29th also. It has been so long, I forgot it wasn't a friday but a thursday

I wish they would email decisions!! I'm out of the country until January with no cell phone reception or access to my snail mail! I just want to KNOW already.. :scared::scared:

If you are accepted, there will be a option to accept the offer on the website where you filled out your secondary. So if you have internet access, you can see if the link is there when people from your date start finding out. Hope this helps!:luck:

Great advice! Do you have the link for the Vandy secondary application??

I read this and now I am depressed heading into my interview tomorrow. Thanks SDN. Filled with a buncha downers I swear.

Just being realistic. My interview told me that no more than 3 people got off the waitlist last year.

That was right after he told me that I wouldn't get in.

I can't imagine an interviewer ever saying that you wont get in. Troll

so Does anyone know if the admissions committee is meeting today? And if so, what interview dates are likely to hear from them?

Hey, sorry if you're not a troll. I just can't imagine any interviewer ever flat out saying that you won't get in. I would tell the admissions committee about this because obviously this person was just a negative person to begin with.

I'm not a troll, I just had a really bad interview experience here

anyone call admissions to ask them what the hold-up is, and when next round of calls should be going out?

Ugh. Is that really true? 3? I wonder if that's how it always is or if last year was an anomaly. The waitlist letter was so optimistic...

Well, if his interviewing experience was so bad (which I have no reason to doubt), then isn't it also possible that his interviewer was being crazy about that, too?

1st thing - by "getting off the waitlist", my interviewer meant "getting off the waitlist after March". anything until March is fair-game with this whole "waitlisters are on the table" thing they've got going. but once March hits, they've over-accepted usually and as people drop out the class gets to its correct size. at least that's the jist I got.

2nd thing - my interviewer was crazy. so yes, I wouldn't blame you for doubting that.

vanderbilt prides itself on matriculating a lot of their acceptees. they give great aid, that may have something to do with it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they only took 3 of the waitlist last year. Two years ago, I had friends that went to the second look and they were told that the admissions office was projecting that more people would keep acceptances than they had room for and that they'd have to ask people to defer or take a research year for the first year. Turned out they didn't need to but that's always a possibility with over-accepting.

Hey guys- I got the call (!) on 12/11 as well (interviewed mid Oct). Was wondering when people found out about merit aid. Did they tell you right when they accepted you?

I lovvvvvvvvedddddd Vandy but not sure its in the cards $-wise. We shall see I guess!

GOOD LUCK to everyone interviewing, waiting to hear back or on the waitlist (I was under the impression that being on the WL was not the kiss of death at Vandy FWIW).

You don't find out about $ when you are accepted. But last year people heard soon after.

For those of you who have received the waitlist letter, does your "Application status" in your personal account on the Vanderbilt Secondary status reflect the fact that you are on the waitlist? Or does you status continue to say something to the effect of "under review"?

I ask because I interviewed before the dates that some of the recent acceptees interviewed, but my application status still says "under review" and I have not received a letter in the mail, yet. Thank you for your help.

hey i think mine still shows the under review screen and looks like it did before.

Does Vandy call back every week or every other week? What's the pattern been so far guys

Calls have been made on 10/16, 11/3, 11/15, and most recently on 12/11. People who interviewed as late as 10/29 have gotten called. I don't believe anyone has received the "hold" snail mail letter from the most recent round yet, however.

Interviewed 10/16
Hold Status snail mail letter received 12/16 (postmarked 12/14)

We interviewed together! Were you the only other state schooler?

Actually, I lied - I interviewed October 15. I probably shouldn't post online during finals week. *whacks head*

But yes, I'm a state schooler too, and my interview group had only four or five of us. 😀

So..I just hit the 6 week mark today. mmmm call back w/ scholarship please.

Interviewed on 12/17. I loved it. Close second to Mayo, has the edge on weather though!🙂

Interviewed on 11/3, anyone from around that date hear back yet by any chance?

So does anyone know where we're at now, in terms of hearing back on decisions from our Interview Dates? Have me moved up to November yet?

interviewed here 10/29, still havent heard back anything, NO call, NO waitlist letter. No nothin.

Where are you guys checking your status? On the status check on the secondary, it shows my undergrad and 'submitted your application' but it does not show decision made or application in progress or anything of that sort. Is there any other status check?

Called today, and lady told me "NO DECISION" has been made on my file yet. Maybe because I'm an international student, my other acceptance from Upstate took 2 weeks extra than everyone else I interviewed with so, who knows.

i'm about to hit the 8 week mark. has vandy been making any calls at all recently? Does anyone know if they are taking the holidays off?

Question for current VUMS students:

How important do you think the optional orientation activities are? (They're called MAG/MOO i think?)

I will probably have to miss them next year (for pretty much non-negotiable reasons), and I'm worried that I'll miss out on a lot of class bonding and it will be hard to make friends afterwards.

Well, first of all I'm thrilled you're definitely coming here. Welcome to the family!

As for MAG/MOO, they're fairly important as far as the initial meeting of your classmates is concerned since there's a lot of bonding, but honestly don't worry about not having "a group" set up right away. Most people hang out with very different folks 2 months after MAG. You spend most of the day with your classmates every single day. The first block, which is called Foundations of the Profession, is super-easy and it's basically Vandy's way to make orientation last as long as possible. So as long as you go out with the class during Foundations and are generally a social person, you'll know most people a week in 😉 and if not I'll be your friend! 😛

For those who don't know what MAG and MOO are:

MAG is the Meet And Greet. It's the first day of orientation, and the second years (I guess that'll be my class...weird...) set it up so there's a lot of get-to-know-each-other events and games (not as lame as it sounds, for the most part), you're sorted into your advisory colleges and meet your advisors, and then those evenings there are usually dinner parties at deans' houses. You're basically officially welcomed to the Vandy fam and you get to know some people.

MOO stands for Medical Outdoor Orientation. Over the summer, you'll get a brochure with a bunch of options as far as what you'd like to do for MOO. Some of the options are: day in Nashville, day on the boat (with lots of beer), white-water rafting, paintball, hiking, and I think a few other things. So one of the last days of orientation you split up into your groups and go on your trip. At the end of the day, theoretically, you go out on a huge campout with (again) lots of drinks and s'mores and stuff. Sketchiness is supposed to ensue, and some drama begins on that evening. Unfortunately my class didn't get a campout because the universe decided to have a massive thunderstorm that evening, so instead we had a party. But hopefully the weather will be better for you guys' class.

Either way, as I mentioned, you'll meet tons of people soon enough. I know of at least one person in my class who missed MAG and MOO cause of a wedding, and it made no difference 🙂

Awww that sounds like something I'd really enjoy 🙁 I wish I could attend it

But thank you so much! You've been such a help throughout this whole process!!

I called in yesterday, and the lady told me that they took the week of thanksgiving and the week AFTER thanksgiving off. Also she said that they arent really going to review anything this week, which means that you need to subtract whatever time you have been waiting by 3 weeks ish....

Jebus ....
