VCU's rep is growing, and it is becoming known as one of the schools that applicants from states like California can shoot for (if they are not quite up to par numbers-wise for their own state schools).

i agree with what you are saying, but being full in mid september is highly unlikely. many people have barely turned in seconaries and are still awaiting an initial review

it just seems bizarre, but i will find out monday when i call

At the orientation on interview day, the dean said they are also interviewing fewer people this year compared to other years.

It is ridiculous that they are out of interview spots! Ridiculous. Most people are finishing secondaries now.

I have been informed by friends on admissions committees that secondaries that are completed now are "on time." Secondaries that are completed in a month are late. WTF.

I would say give them a call, because I went from being complete on a Saturday to having my status updated to #3 on like the following Wednesday. That was this past week.

So...
Does it mean that if I get the interview invite, say tomorrow 6:03pm, it's now known for fact that I cannot actually be "interviewed" until someone gives up his/her spot? God knows when?
 
rumor is non-URM's are not accepted to VCU with an SAT below 1200! Yes I am a troll.
 
So I noticed that we have seven days to schedule an interview from the time that we receive that status update email... anyone have any idea what we are supposed to do if we can't schedule within seven days because there are no slots available?

This could get very tricky...

When I was signing up some people on this thread said they could only sign up in January or later when I could choose from Oct-March.

Not sure.

My stats were:
Complete 8/24 (with "may" status right away), <3.5 GPA, <36 MCAT, OOS, not URM

And when I received the interview offer on 9/17, my earliest spot was December.
 
I was able to schedule an interview today... There were plenty of dates available as of 5 minutes ago... I just checked the website without calling. Good luck everybody 🙂

When is the earliest available month now?
 
so ive been complete for a month..i called and she said i was in the "comprehensive review"...which status is that?
 
So i scheduled this morning and the only dates were for january....? i signed up anyway. it must have something to do with how you compare to others...like some kind of score or something. right? since people above signed up for october.....
 
i think they open up slots when they send out another batch of invites rather than based on priority. there were no slots open late last friday, i checked this morning and snagged one for the first week of nov - i had the #3 status initially (futher review...).
 
Invite today, "may" status Friday 8/28. Follows the same pattern of 3 weeks + 1 weekend later. January dates are the earliest interviews right now.
 
There appears to be some luck of draw when it comes to interview scheduling. I signed up around 8ish and the earliest available dates were January... others that also scheduled today had earlier options. I honestly believe that there is some behind-the-scenes shuffling of interview dates that opens up the opportunity to snag dates as they become available. However, the idea that they are restricted according to your interview score is an intriguing idea... but I would hope that once an interview is offered we are more or less on equal footing...

Interesting, guess maybe I'll hear soon then. Got "may" on Tuesday 9/1.
 
hey does anyone know if they take scores after the Aug. 31st MCAT? On one part of their site it says they don't and on the FAQ portion they say they don't accept any scores after the Sept. 30th MCAT (which doesn't exist)

Just scheduled interview for Oct 8th!! When you open the interview page, it defaults to January and that is why you have January dates in your face right away. I almost went ahead and scheduled Jan thinking that Jan was the earliest but you have to click on the month tab and then pick Oct, Nov, or Dec, in which there are plenty of dates available!! Maybe you guys that scheduled Jan can call and reschedule for Oct or Nov, unless you have some reason to interview in Jan.

ok..theres 20 pages on this thread so forgive me from asking this if its already been answered:

has anyone who had the #4 status (reservations about interview, goin to subcommittee) gotten an interview yet? my status page says "complete" but i called earlier today to see what the hold up was and they said that....

answers would be greatly appreciated.

Ack! What a dummy I am... I totally didn't realize this and just picked January not knowing there were other options in the pick list. I just submitted a request to reschedule, so we'll see... :scared:

Phew - just called and rescheduled from Jan. 5 to Oct. 1. They were very friendly and seemed to have quite a bit of flexibility with dates.
 
So, is the consensus that once you receive a status update of #2/3, you'll receive another one (we do/don't want to interview you) within about a month? That seems to be what I'm seeing.. I could be wrong. I have status #3, I got it 9/16.

wow. im seriously in shock. my first interview invite! complete 8/19. "MAY" message 9/1. invite 15 minutes ago. i cant believe it 🙂

Same here. Were you able to select a date for an interview? it told me to continue to check further...
 
Complete 8/6. Just for a 'further' update. Am just glad to be hearing back something from them. I saw very few posts from people with the same message getting the invite so I'm not very hopefully. But at least, it's not a rejection =)

I went from "further" to "invite" after a little more than a month.. hang in there!

Same situation.. Complete 7/31 and got Further today. Let's be positive 🙂
 
Invite today (like I said, "may" on 9/1) and I screwed up and scheduled for January thinking it was the earliest. Damn, I need to call tomorrow, I hope they let me reschedule. Did you just call the admissions office?

I got an invite today too, but the only months available were January and February... no other months showed up in the drop down box.

There's a "Reschedule" button on the web page. I just filled out that form at 4 am, and they had called me by 9 am with a 10/1 interview slot. Don't stress. They are very nice and were totally understanding.
 
I know they don't interview on Friday, but what about Mondays? Does anyone know? Thanks.
 
So for those who got the "very interested" message, how long after your status change did you get an invite? I only got the message a few days ago but I am curious.
 
Are they rolling admissions? Is there any disadvantage to scheduling in January?

OK maybe I'll just stick with it then. Not really that big of a deal, my understanding is that its not rolling anyway, just like to get things like this done ASAP haha.
 
From what I understand they don't make any decisions until March so whether you interview in Oct or Feb isn't too big a deal

jeez, totally wrong - vcu is the epitome of a rolling school - acceptances start rolling on Oct 15
