Probably a long shot .. but does anyone have stats/info about how many people are normally pulled off the UC list before they form an actual waitlist? I assume there's some variation from year to year, but am wondering whether a good number of people get placed on the UC originally and then pulled off, or if you're more likely to just get a direct acceptance. Thanks guys!

did u have the "under consideration" status?

I did not have the "Under Consideration" status... I did only interview last week... I don't think they are accepting any UC people yet. My quick decision means Albany is finally up to its 7-10 day range for notification. (When I interviewed, the Dean said she was hoping by now they would let all the early interviewees know their decision and move forward with weekly notifications. )

2050vlsb: Albany makes heavy use of the UC list. They give everyone a numerical score, and lower the cutoff for acceptance gradually as the cycle wears on in order to meet enrollment targets. My impression was they many people get off UC. Then, come May 15, the top 1/3 of the remaining UC list becomes the waitlist.

Good luck everyone!!!!

I got the "under consideration" email this morning. I also interviewed last week (shout out to the nov 10th group!), so they must be all caught up. I called admissions to get some clarification and what obliquity said above is accurate. It seems like they end up lowering the rank-cutoff for acceptance as the year goes on. I was told that they end up pulling a large majority of their class from this list. So chin up everyone, good things to come! :xf: and congrats to everyone with acceptances!

Pre-interview hold this morning. Been complete/certified for a long time. We'll see what happens.

I can't remember when I got the complete email, but it was a long time ago. Also got the hold email today. Good luck to everyone else!

And based on the email saying "If over the course of the admissions season we find that too few candidates were initially invited to interview, " I'd say chances of interviewing after hold status are pretty slim.

Hey guys so I did some homework on the "Hold" status. It seems like it barelyyyyyy and I mean barelyyyyy anyone has come off from it. It's basically a rejection; however, this is based on SDN. But I look at it as basically a rejection so to those who are on "Hold" I wouldn't count on getting an interview.

🙂 .. Thanks for the info and encouraging words, altoid25 and Obliquity!

Also on the UC list. Does Albany put everyone who wasn't accepted on the UC list?

btw I really liked my Albany visit. Hopefully we'll get an acceptance... :luck:

Didn't the email make it sound like they wouldn't pull from the UC list until they were done with interviews... so that's like what, March?

If you look at last years thread, they pulled from the UC list way before end of March.

Put on pre-interview hold this morning...currently my third hold after just receiving a penn state hold mailed letter. not liking this pre-interview hold. What are the chances like normally from getting removed and getting an interview? is this "hold" basically a way to give a silent rejection or do some people actually receive rejections?

3.5 34R OS

Hey-- For those of you that have interviewed, any advice? Thanks!! And congratz to everyone who's accepted! 🙂

How do you know if you've been placed on a pre-interview hold?

The interview was friendly and casual. Pretty much the same as anywhere else. From my experience the best advice is to come prepared enough to have a conversation. It matters less what you talk about and more that you know what you are talking about. Also, avoid awkward silence at all costs and keep the conversation moving. My guess is that much of your interview score is based on how you make the interviewer feel (were they bored? was it like pulling teeth to keep the conversation going?) so ask questions, smile a lot, and be friendly. Hope that helps.

Got the pre-interview hold this morning as well. Complete on 9/22, 3.5s 3.5cgpa, 31S OOS. Does anyone know what the chances of an interview at this point look like?

yeah it's not really that good at all. I wouldn't count on getting an interview after getting a hold from albany. but hey this is all from the past two years of sdn. and sdn is a small pool of the total applicants.

For those that interviewed already, was there any advantage to having an early interview time (8:30am-1:30) vs the later time of the day (11:30-5pm)?

It allows you to relax a bit during the lunch and tour since your interview is over and done with. Also, you'd get to leave earlier.

I had the later interview... and I dont think it makes that much of a difference; for me personally, I think the afternoon interview was better since I got to relax with the school itself prior to the interview (making it a lil less stressful)... so that's my take on it. Either way, know where you stand and be able to speak honestly about it....

Good luck on your interview. 👍

I got the financial aid email even though I have the 'under consideration' status. Is this normal?

got the pre-interview hold! disappointed.. really liked albany

I think it could be normal. What if you get off UC and you missed the deadlines for financial aid? UC is not a waitlist... you may get off it well before May.

They emailed us again; it was a mistake 🙂

I can hear my echooo...ohhh~!!! Helloooo~!

Here's a BUMP for all us UC folks... :meanie:

I hate their policy of not accepting updates. I want to tell them how much I love them, but alas they won't let me 🙁

I just got an email from Albany that said "secondary application received", and I sent that in at least 7 or 8 weeks ago.

On the online status check, it says all materials are in, and my application is ready for review. A more accurate email would have been "all materials received", but whatever. Hopefully they will review it sometime soon.

Interviewed 11/18
UC 11/24

Appreciate the quick turnaround but I was really hoping for an acceptance (obviously😎!!!!!!!!!!!!). UC seems to be popular though. Many of the students I talked to throughout my interview date were UC initially and said there is usually much movement UC-->Acceptance. Lets hope to see some movement soon .

Also, I hope I didn't scare Julie Nanos with my overabundance of knowledge of and favorites on the food network channel... I almost peed myself when that was our fun icebreaker prompt.

It sounds like the UC list is not a bad place to be, and while waiting is not fun, at least it's not a rejection.🙂

I'm in a similar situation at SUNY Buffalo, where a waitlist very commonly translates into an acceptance.

I have been "[FONT=Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica]Application complete and ready for review by our Admissions Committee" since July 25th. Has this been the case for anyone? Should I be concerned and email them? I actually sent an update letter and they said that they couldn't add it to my file because it was "out of the office".. what does that even mean??
.

Super6, did receive an email for your preinterview hold? I'm in the same boat as Lccjblu, complete, but haven't heard a word.

put on pre-interview hold today... complete 9/28.

Does anyone know what this means for my chances?

hey guys, cancelled my interview for next week. little bit bummed because i heard good things about albany. hope one of you guys gets my spot

Dude. This instantly brought back memories of watching Food Network in your room at the Baldwin house, with your TV awkwardly positioned next to the ceiling. 😀

yeah tom, based on my look back at the last two cycles. It seems like Holds don't really get interviews at all. Personally, I'm just taking it as a rejection. But like I said it's not like no one gets an interview after a hold. The chances based on SDN looked very slim.

I agree. Put on pre-interview hold here too, complete 10/7. I wonder what this means about my chances at other schools...

Do you mind if I ask why? (just curious)

yeah I just got an acceptance and I loved Temple. I would really like to see Albany but it isn't worth the pain to fly or the 8 hour drive from Pittsburgh.
