Just got my official rejection from Baylor in my e-mail. Not terribly disappointed, since I'm hoping to go to an Ohio school AND I'm glad to just get some kind of news one way or another. Good luck to everyone waiting on a final decision!

Me too!! Was not going to accept an interview anyways. I decided to go to San Antonio because I realized I did not want to be in Houston, and I am very very happy about my decision!

*sigh* the wait is pretty exhausting...

I got into a school already, and I have accepted. However, Baylor, if you are reading this, haha, you are still my number one. I read, for some of you, you are not big into the idea of living in Houston. I moved here from England when I was 10 (now 23, actually my birthday is today), and have been here ever since. It definitely isn't the city for everyone, but I love it here! To all of you who have found different schools to attend or have gotten into Baylor, I offer you all congrats! For me, I am still waiting for my number 1! 🙂 GO BAYLOR!

I have accepted an offer from a different school as well but I emailed the LOI last night to Baylor. We shall see.
Quick question for those who got rejections today - were they post-interview rejections or not?

with the current a&m situation. i hope baylor & some of state schools can increase acceptances soon. this will definitely help some a&m matches to get other schools before their lurking mandatory deferrals. go baylor!

I sure hope so!!! I'm in the terrible situation with A&M and have wasted all day freaking out about it 🙁

Mine was pre-interview.

i personally know two people that got rejected from baylor today. they were pre-interview.

baylor does not give out very many post-interview rejections, but they do happen.

got the boot from baylor today as well...OOS...a bit sad but oh well. :luck: to the rest of you!

No, didn't get an interview at all.

ya, what nvpkim said. they're asking all of us who matched to consider deferring for one year for a whopping $2k incentive (sarcasm). If they don't get their EY2011 class to 170 by April 1, theyre gonna RANDOMLY pick some accepted students and force them to defer to next year. So that's all of us in limbo...80 students as of now need to defer or get accepted to a higher waitlisted school. bad times for us A&M'ers

Thanks BuckeyeGirl for the reply. There is still hope I guess. Wonder what number I am on the ranking list......

me too... i wish there was some way of knowing where i rank with baylor... still praying and hoping a miracle happens here! :luck:

That SUCKS! Best of luck to you all. :xf:

I am really sorry about that. You would think that TAMU would have learned from UTMB's mistake last year. (Unfortunately they offered some of those folks full rides to defer). I Hope you get in where you want and avoid that 30% chance of forced deferment.

I am a first year at BCM and as far as I understand it, quite a large group of people that matriculate here don't get accepted until March, April, or even May. I was accepted the the beginning of April.

Stick in there. I think the wait is worth it.

That is good information to know! I think the wait is worth it too, I loved this school - I know it sounds weird but I really felt "at home" when I was there. I got on well with the other applicants, the students, faculty, staff - never really felt like that anywhere else. True, the other schools are all great, and I will still be happy going to the one I matched too, but Baylor definitely is on my list!! 🙂

I don't think this can be said enough 👍

Good luck everyone!

I want to mail in my update letter, which has some changes with extra-curricular stuff. It also explains that Baylor is my top choice, which it is. Who should I send it in to/who should I address it to?

I would address it to Dr. Eddins-Folensbee in the office of admissions.

This thread has been awfully quiet compared to this time of year on last year's thread... 🙁

I agree. I know they usually start sending a lot of acceptances in march and april but have they not sent out any acceptances in the past few weeks?

They told me that they sent out 75 acceptances by the middle of December, and someone posted in Jan, that they had sent 150...dunno how that happened when no one on SDN posted that they got in????

If they've given out ~100something acceptances so far, they're probably going to hold out until after the last interview date on February 25 to send any more acceptances, given that they've said that they want to have enough open seats to theoretically accept everyone from that interview date.

I know it's hard to imagine, but not everyone's first instinct is to go post about it online when they get accepted 😉

Does anyone know if anyone on admissions at Baylor would be open to discussing applicant shortcomings and how to improve them? Or if they have a re-applicant workshop or anything. Thanks.

sooo how about some valentines day love from bcm? 😉😍

Seriously! I would really like to see some action in this page. Someone who uses SDN has to get accepted.

Interviewing this Friday and am completely stoked. Anything particularly exciting happening in the morning that would be fun to attend pre-interview?

Congrats! I'll be giving tours in the late afternoon. Sorry to disappoint, but there's nothing going on Friday morning other than an immunology exam. If you're around in the morning, you're more than welcome to hang out around the area where the interview day stars (M112). This is adjacent to the lecture halls, so you'll probably find some frazzled first years to hang out with after we finish our exam. Other than that, we will see you in the afternoon. Good luck with your interviews, and try to have some fun with the day!

This was typed on a phone, sorry for any auto correct mistakes 🙂

Just interviewed here today! The entire experience was pretty incredible. Now we'll wait and see if I get the magic phone call. :xf:

Interviewed here yesterday and also though it was amazing. Wow... TMC rocks - although I kind of already knew that. Probably have a new 1st choice. Fingers crossed for the next couple of weeks.

Glad you folks enjoyed it here. Baylor is an incredible place to be a med student, no doubt!

Interviewed here Feb. 18th. Anyone have any insight into how much the interview is weighed in the ranking process relative to GPA/MCAT?

Even if interviewing last may not be good, I am soooo looking forward to later this week!

Same here! Although I believe Baylor saves enough seats so they could accept everyone who interviews the last day if they wanted to, which speaks volumes to the culture there in comparison to UTSW, where by the last interview day they had already made 260 offers for 240 spots and basically had 50 of us there to interview for waitlists.

On my interview day, they said that all aspects of your application are considered after your interview. It's not like at some schools where decisions are made exclusively on how well you interview. If I had to guess, I would say how well you interview only accounts for 20% of the ranking system. Maybe 20% to GPA, 20% to MCAT, 40% to all the extracurriculars, etc you may have.

At the interview day last week did they mention to y'all how many seats they've offered thus far?

Bummertastic! although in all fairness UTSW also has all that unnecessary TMDSAS matching BS to deal with. Though of course if they saved more seats for the match then people in the last interview day could have a more realistic chance of getting in via the match

That's the sense I got too. Though of course it's hard to know the exact weight. Some of the other schools in TX basically told us that everyone is on a level playing field when they interview (and therefore how well you interview is what makes or breaks you), but at BCM this didn't seem to be the case

Good luck y'all! is the wait stressing you as much as it is stressing me?

Actually, this doesn't say anthing about the culture at UTSW. The admissions process at UTSW works under the TMDSAS/match system and thus really can't be compared to Baylor's system. For example, pre-match offers have to stop on December 31st, which was a week before the last interview at UTSW. I know it probably doesn't feel good to be interviewing for the waitlist, but the alternative was that UTSW could simply have not interviewed these candidates at all...

Or they could participate in the TMDSAS system and actually match people... And I would have preferred to have not been interviewed, and wouldn't have attended if I had known the situation beforehand. Maybe culture is the wrong word, but it certainly points to a certain attitude on behalf of how the school views themselves.

Was last week's interview the last one? I am wondering when they are going to be sending out acceptances...
