Thought I'd contribute instead of just lurking through the thread.

Got an MD call this Tuesday (2/22) from an interview date on 1/28 (I think that's when I did my MD part of Baylor?).

Bro! Will I be seeing you at revisit? We met at UNC interviews 😉

I think so, maybe. Probably. I mean, the MSTP is paying and I also promised some current students that I'd give Baylor a chance. 🙂

It was a pretty fun interview weekend after all. I hope the revisit will be too. (And maybe as a townie you can show me around the 'hood)

Hey, this is a question for the Feb 25th crowd. I had to leave right after my interviews, but I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on what they said at the 4 o'clock talk regarding how many spots left, who they are letting in, timetable, etc. I'd appreciate it! Thanks and good luck to everyone!

About half of the seats are left, maybe less. 2 week turn around at the minimum, but they regularly have acceptances going into may or june. sounds like they're gonna take their sweet time.

Thanks for the info!!! Very encouraging! 🙂🙂 Just out of curiosity how many people were at the 25 interview? about~

Got the acceptance call over the wknd. Interview in December. Good luck all.

Got the call today while being sick with bronchitis. Interviewed Dec. 10th. So relieved since it looked like I was stuck in the Texas A&M fiasco. So excited!!

Congrats to you both!!!! 🙂 It's so good to hear of acceptances again!!!! baysouth when did you interview?

Congratulations!
I interviewed Dec 10th as well. Hope for some love soon from Baylor🙂

Congrats thoya15! I'll look forward to seeing you in . . . less than 5 months! Question for current students: Are there opportunities for accepted students to do research at Baylor the summer before classes start?

33Q, 34 by best sub-scores; cGPA 3.8/sGPA 3.7

Not extraordinary by any means, but ECs are pretty unique and probably make up for a lot for me, especially since I worked with Baylor abroad. Here is my mdapp for more insight (although it might be too much info): http://mdapplicants.com/profile.php?id=21068

I am interested in doing research over the summer too. If anyone hears anything about that, let me know.

Congrats to those of you who got the call 😀

While I'd recommend just enjoying your last summer before med school starts, if you really must do something med school related this summer I'm sure you could ask for the office of admissions to put you in contact with the head of the MS research track program. If he's not the guy to get you moving on research, I'm sure he can find the person that can.

Howdy y'all (it's rodeo season, have to go with the howdy)

1) When does BCM usually let you know about your financial aid package?

2) Should I start looking for an apartment now? I lived on campus throughout undergrad so I am not quite sure when to really start looking for a place to live near TMC.

thanks!

1) End of April for our year. I wouldn't expect much in terms of merit-based stuff; the fact is the tuition is already cheap, so they save the money for those with real need.

2) Nah. I got an apartment easy near the beginning of May.

Right now, unless I get into Baylor, I'm going to the University of Maryland. The thing is, that if I go to Maryland I would like to do army HPSP, but if I go to Baylor I don't want to do the military. Thus, I would really like to know where I stand at Baylor so. Think there's any way I'll be able to figure out where I am on the waitlist?

Financial aid goes through the paperwork in the order that they receive it...so the sooner you get your paperwork in, the earlier you'll find out about your loans.

Dillydally,
Nope, there's no way to figure it out. As an aside, I've been told that joining the military is sort of like pursuing medicine...only do it if you can't see yourself doing anything else. This begs the question...

Good luck with the wait and your decision. I can tell you that the wait is totally worth it!

Thanks. I think I'll try and call anyway and at least get a hint of where I stand. If I have extremely little chance because I'm at the bottom of the barrel, it seems like common sense they might let me know that so I can pursue other options.

It might seem like common sense, but I am extremely doubtful that they will tell you anything. If they answered the question for one person they would have to answer it for everyone and honestly the office of admissions doesn't have time to field questions from all of the several hundreds of people who would like to know where they stand.

Still, if you're intent on asking, I doubt it will hurt. Just don't get your hopes up.

If I remember correctly from my interview day, Flossy (er... Dean Eddins-Folensbee) said that you can call to ask about wait list positioning as it gets to be June. If you're holding an acceptance at a school in Texas, they can't offer you a seat after June 15, so you can call before then to see if you're at the top of the list and should hold out hope and potentially drop your current seat, or if you should just go where you're accepted. (Please correct me if I am wrong about any of this.)

Yep I remember her saying the same thing...

Got the call today! 🙂 I got it from Dr. Edinns(?) and not the dean. Def my first choice so far!

37R/3.8 with average ECs.

Hm. I guess it's changed since I did it 😳

Congrats to all the new acceptees!

kenqi -- when did you interview?
Congrats though! that's awesome

Nope, Monday at around 4:30pm Baylor time. Then got another call yesterday, basically confirming that I got the first call.

Good luck all!!!!

Congrats to the new acceptees!! See ya in about 5 months!

Hey, to those who got accepted in the past week or 2, did y'all send any letters of intent/update?

I did not send a letter of intent. I did send an update, but it was pretty specific to my situation and was more an FYI about upcoming international travel. That being said, I literally sent my update, and within half an hour I got the call from Dean Greenberg, so I highly doubt it had any effect on my application - just a wonderful occurrence of serendipitous timing.

Accepted on Monday! I did not send a letter of intent. I'm so thrilled

So just out of curiosity pinkynotbrain and longhorn how did you feel your interviews went??

So just out of curiosity pinkynotbrain and longhorn how did you feel your interviews went??

I thought my interviews went pretty well - not "knock 'em out of the park" amazing, but quite well overall. I am more comfortable with interviewing than I am about anything on paper, though, so apparently I'm my harshest critic. (Not news to those who know me personally.)

Congratulations to all accepted! Longhorn and Kenqi1, are you in-state or out of state?

I know 70 percent of Baylor's matriculants are in-state, by law, but do they accept in-state and out-of state applicants together? Do they fill all the in-state spots first?

So just out of curiosity pinkynotbrain and longhorn how did you feel your interviews went??

I thought my interviews went pretty well. I'm a Texas resident and interviewed at other schools in-state, but thought that the ones at BCM went best.

I don't think BCM fills in all of the in-state spots first. I think they let students in from all over, but I believe you're right about the minimum 70% in-state rule. Where are you from Naamans?

Has anybody who interview in January heard back yet? I interviewed 1/21, am out of state, and what I do next year kinda depends on my Baylor status.
