I applied to Baylor before I got my MCAT scores back from the 6/17 test date since I was trying to get my application in as early as possible. I had been making consistently above a 30 on my practice tests from the AAMC, but on the real thing, I crapped out apparently and ended up with a 26P. Boo. MUCH lower than BCM's average of, what was it, 34?
So it seems I've probably wasted $260 between the primary and secondary apps to BCM, but I was wondering if there was a small chance I might still have a shot.
My stats:
Major: International Studies with a concentration in International Relations
Minor: Chemistry
In my university's honors program (OOS, but still have Texas residency)
cGPA: 3.89
sGPA: 3.89
MCAT: 26P (Yeesh... oh well, that's what I get for a total of 3 weeks of study time that was also spent preparing for two study abroad trips and visiting my brother at Texas Children's Hospital because of chest surgery)
ECs: Int'l Relations related independent research presented at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research 2010, Honors Program, several academic honor societies (Phi Eta Sigma, Pi Gamma Mu, Phi Kappa Phi), completed a year long program encouraging civic engagement at school that was by invitation only from the university's president, a job with that same institute later (starting this fall) helping coordinate the student voting program, trip to Belize with International Service Learning working in rural field clinics, study abroad program in San Jose, Costa Rica.
I don't know how much any of that stuff matters, so sorry if I had a little verbal diarrhea there... Haha. In addition, I also talked in my personal statement about losing over 200 lbs and connected that to me understanding what people with weight struggles are going through, which may help me to help them, etc.
So, yeah, do I have a snowball's chance in heck? Haha. Anyone heard of someone getting in with that low of an MCAT score without having really special circumstances?
