Thanks for the advise/opinions. I am pretty relaxed right now, but a slightly nervous myself about more interviews (I have recieved one invite so far). My family however, I feel is more concerned then I am at this point in time, expecting that, most/all should shortly follow the first invite, etc.

At the interview today, we were told that phone calls would start going out on Monday and Tuesday for the first round of acceptances.

Anyone know how much the MCAT impacts your chance of interview invite?

Just to give you an idea, the average score of matriculants at Baylor is close to a 34, 3.8 GPA. As far as interviews go, I'm not entirely sure. You don't have to be a statistical anomaly with a 40+ to get in.

Ahh! Calls are going out Monday? Guess I'll be obsessively checking my phone next week...

:luck:, everyone!

Yeah, but the staff seemed to imply that only the people that interviewed in the first two or so interview groups could possibly be getting the call.

Also, since people were discussing it, the staff estimated they would send out an average of 10-15 acceptances a week. I think they also said they send out 350 or so acceptances in total.

just a note about the above number of acceptances, the director of admissions told our group that they give out 300 acceptances, not 350!

I called today, I submitted my App September 27th, and she told me my file was complete and has been available to reviewers.

I have a 3.86/3.88 GPA and a 34P on the MCAT. I have a substantial Work & Activities section.

The only downside to my application was that I was charged with a misdemeanor(driving incident) that was later (by decision of judge and prosecution) reduced to a traffic violation. Everyone I called (including AMCAS) said I better list it, then to not, and err on side of caution, in case the background checks reveal the charge and I dont mention it on AMCAS. It was a stupid immature thing I did in a vehicle when I was 19 (I am 21, nearly 22 now).

How much will this negatively impact me getting an invite from Baylor? Also, any insight on how it may affect me getting interviews from elsewhere as well.

Thanks and goodluck to all.

First of all, like canjosh said, I think the main thing is that you really haven't been complete for very long at all. Just for the sake of comparison, when I applied 2 years ago, I submitted in mid-late August, and my status didn't change to "reviewed" until the beginning of October. You submitted over a month later than me, and there are more people applying every year, so I would expect your wait to be longer than the ~1.5 month wait that I had. Just try and be patient.

Second of all, and I mean this as respectfully as possible... but it's not about "not having downsides" as much as it is about giving Baylor a reason to interview and ultimately accept you. Your numbers are obviously fine, probably a little above average for our classes, but it's not like they're so amazing that they're going to automatically offer you an interview, let alone an acceptance. At this stage, roughly everyone who applies has a "substantial" Work & Activities section; you need to stand out in some way from all of the other applicants who have similar numbers and activities. I'm not saying this to scare you or put you down, I just want you to be aware that Baylor chooses not to interview or accept several students just like you every year. I really wouldn't stress about the misdemeanor/traffic violation/whatever.

So like I said, try and be patient, and good luck!

Oops... didn't notice there was a whole new page of posts 😳

Good luck to everyone this week! Just an FYI, in past years it's been my perception that most (but probably not all) of the people accepted in the first round are from out of state. Also, just because you don't hear anything this week doesn't mean you've been rejected or waitlisted; you could still hear anything from now through the end of the application season :luck:

In total agreement with both statements. 👍

umm since i hate people who dont give details, OOS, interviewed on 9/24, GPA/MCAT at about the same average!

I'm in too!! Got the call about 15 minutes ago. I think my reaction was something like, "REALLY?! REALLY REALLY?! LIKE REALLY REALLY REALLY?!".
Hehe.

I'm in state, interviewed on 9/24. Stats are around average.

Nevermind- Called the admissions office myself- didn't have enough patience to wait. 🙂

Congrats to everyone who got a call today! Good luck to everybody who has interviewed!

Are the majority of people who got calls today in-state? Seems like it from who has posted here.

I am Out of State and got the call today at around 10 am central. My stats are 36Q and 3.77. I interviewed on 9/10, but I don't know how many groups interviewed before us. When I interviewed, only about 5 people were from Texas (most from California and BYU). I'm more than happy to answer any questions that I can about my experiences thus far. Again, good luck to all those going the the process, and congrats to all those who received an interview and/or acceptance.

Congrats to everyone who got acceptances! Still holding out for an interview here. Have had the nasty "you've been reviewed and can be considered for interview til Feb" status for far too long now. Did a summer program here two summers ago and absolutely love this place.

Congrats y'all! Here's hoping that I get in as well and we're all classmates at BCM!

:luck: to everyone on their applications!

What area code is the phone call from? Not that I'm expecting a call anytime soon, but I keep getting political robot calls with unfamiliar area codes that get me excited...lol

Got the call 33 minutes ago!!! was asleep, dr greenberg left me a nice voicemail message 😀

Just got the call!!!! So excited!!!! Interviewed on 9/10 Good luck to everyone!

Congrats to those accepted!! I agree with jturkel, BCM does rock! Coming to med school here is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Good luck to those waiting to hear. The wait can be frustrating at times, but hang in there!!

Congrats you guys! Coming to Baylor was an excellent decision for me - it's a great school with great curriculum.

If you have any questions for a Baylor MS4 feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to answer (I check SDN compulsively for residency interview invites - it never ends.)

For those current med students who have posted on this thread. How long did you have to wait to hear about acceptances? Just trying to get a feel for how long I am going to have to go insane 🙂

Interviewed the week before Thanksgiving and heard in mid-March (day before my birthday - thought my boyfriend was playing a joke on me)

SDN is horrible in some ways. Before I got on here, I had accepted I would have to wait until march to hear from most schools. Now with all these people getting accepted, I feel like I should hear now. Good to hear that not everyone hears so early!

Congrats to everyone who was accepted.

Is it the consensus that the "status not supported"=eventual interview invite?

My original interview date was September 19th, but it got pushed to October 17th because of a hurricane. I heard back December 10th. 🙂

Interviewed mid-late October, accepted the week before Thanksgiving. So, as you can see from the range of dates we all got accepted, you really can hear at ANY time

Should I be freaking out that my status shows that my application has been reviewed, but I haven't been invited for an interview? I'm starting to go crazy... after getting 3 interview invites back to back, it's been a month with nothing.... 🙁
