Out of curiosity, did you guys get an email telling you your status was changed when you got the re-review status?

Did you have your transcripts in on the 7th too? They don't put you in line for verification until they receive all your transcripts. I'm in the same boat here...submitted primary 7/5 but the final transcript didn't arrive until 7/21 - now I'm still waiting verification. I'm hoping sometime next week, but GWU has had my secondary for weeks - please look at it!
 
Hey guys, I'm an OOS applicant with an interview invite. Could you guys give me some pointers on where to stay in the DC area/what airport to come in from/etc.? Oh, I'd like to be frugal with spending!

I've seen some posts about student hosts. So does a medical student at GWU just volunteer to house an interviewee for free or what? Does GWU offer this?

You might want BWI or Reagan airport. About the student hosting.. im not so sure ... congrats on your interview invite
 
Just put on re-review status. Do they reject anyone before this point? I'm trying to gauge how much this status means.

The Four Seasons is REALLY close to the hospital hahaha.

But seriously, there are hotels across the river in Arlington that will be WAY cheaper. You can metro right to the hospital very easily. I would check for hotels in either Crystal City or Ballston these are "neighborhoods" in Arlington. I really don't know what you're looking at in terms of a budget but that's a start. The school lies on the blue/orange line so if you were to search DC's metro anywhere along those lines will get you to the school very easily.

Are you still not verified? I submitted on July 14 and was verified August 4. GW sent me the "secondary received" email last week, but they still haven't sent the "application complete" email.
 
hey do you guys know what the chances of getting interviews after hold for re-review status? also does the timing of the hold matter?
 
My submit and complete emails were within a few hours of each other. How long did it take you guys to get a status after you were complete?

In the invite email they include hotels that offer discounts for interviewees, also try an expedia search - I think the GW Hotel and Conference center is close (obviously), with competitive rates.

I'm waiting for verification and MCAT score (retake) should I plan on sending in my secondary before I get verified? I won't be getting verified till like the 20th according to last years verification thread, my score will be in before then.
 
Appreciate the helps guys! I looked into Americana Hotel and found out it'll cost me at least $200. That + plane ticket will cost me around $500! Quite a hefty price to pay, so I emailed the school about the availablity of students hosts. Still waiting for them to reply.

DC is super expensive! I booked my hotel the other day at the Holiday Inn for $179. Ask for the student discount/mention you are interviewing at GW.
 
I got an interview at georgetown and im travelling from Canada and I heard ppl send "in the area" emails.. im just wondering is this appropriate for this school and how exactly is an in the area email worded... "hi im going to be around can u plz look at my file and tell me if u want to interview me" ??

Haha, yeah it would be easy to do. I don't think admissions offices send anything out on the weekends though...

I second this question! From the previous pages, I've noticed that those who have received interviews (congrats guys! 😀) only have to wait about a week between being complete and receiving the interview invite?!

Along with: does anyone know if there are outright rejections? Or are you just put on hold and rejected in a few months?

complete 7/22. put on hold for re-review 8/5.

That's interesting because I submitted on July 8th! 😱 Yeah, I was actually verified on 8/5. I had my transcripts sent in a long time ago but maybe it took so long b/c I went to 3 different schools. Who knows :shrug:
Plus, I also had a total of 172 hours.. just a little over what's required for my degree :laugh:

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you now, Dude Man. I've been verified and they have received my secondary but I haven't received a "complete" email yet. Joche - I hope you get verified soon.

I think it his hit or miss depending on the school. I tried this once last year when I was invited at GWU... A rejection letter followed, but I do not think I was too competitive at the school. Chances are if you are interviewing at Gtown then you are probably competitive at GW. It might be worth a shot. GL

i was also wondering do you ask them to look at your file and make a decision or do you ask them if they have already looked at your file and made a decision if they could let u know what the decision was?
 
invite today for 10/7. will reschedule for a friday. woo hoo! I cannot believe it!

truthfully, i did not even know there was a check status until today. so i am not sure.

Haha, that is golden. We're all sitting here obsessively checking a status page and you're invited without even being bothered with it. That's the way to do it.

FWIW, I submitted my secondary and primary a while ago, they were just waiting on my letters for a week or so, which makes it seem like a much quicker turn around than it actually might have been. (If they look at apps before they get the letters...I think they secretly do but don't admit it..)

Congrats on the interview invite! Was there much of a lag time between receiving your letters and the complete e-mail?

My last letter was just submitted and I'm hoping to get the "complete" e-mail soon. All these apps are making me dread weekends and after-business hours xD

thanks. I am thinking of staying there an extra day because that monday turns out to be columbus day. never been to dc before.

as far as being obsessed about status checking...i am, but mostly for my state schools.
 
Hold for re-review at a later date.

3.6/33/OOS 🙁

One of my top choices. From what I can tell, re-review = rejection, considering the amount of applications they get.
 
4 rejections so far, no sign of any invites. I am screwed this year I think. :cry:

Don't think that way 🙂 I had nothing but bad news today and its a bummer, but there are still lots of schools out there to hear from!
