I hope the promptness and attention to detail of admissions committee isn't indicative of the other parts of the medical school. Future letters of terror:
"We will be mailing your dean letters for residency before/after/maybe the deadline of X/Y/Z which will ultimately decide your professional life"
"We will not be mailing the letters sooner, rather than later, on a date to be decided, which may or may not occur on or before (or maybe sometime to a further date of rolling thoughts), but rest assured, the programs know that timing isn't everything and that you have nothing better to do than wait".
Haha, but I do love that the undergrad (which is interesting to see a junior on SDN) fully recognizes and accepts it.
Nothing will happen until the end of January, that much is pretty clear. But more importantly, lets discuss the risk of not being considered for top residency positions. I've asked a few program directors, and all 3 said they'd never consider a "new" school, its just too risky for them they said. I countered with "best scores, best letters, and you've met them before", and they still were very adamant about the "risk". Anyone asked others and heard differently?
