I spoke with them about the financial differences in the two interview dates. They are adding me in on the date I requested although it was full. I am so happy they are so caring.😀

Just finished my interview at tOSU. Everyone from faculty to student reps were phenomenal. The facilities as is are incredible and they're only adding more. I would be honored to receive a call from Dr. Capers on Monday. Good luck to those interviewing in the coming weeks.

Congrats on the merit scholarship, when did you find out? Are they finalizing financial packages? I have not heard anything so I was curious. The email I received from them had stated need based and merit based scholarships would be announced in the middle of April. Anyone know anything about this?
 
has anyone received a confirmation email or something for second look weekend? Kinda weirded out by not getting any confirmation for both second look and for accepting the admissions offer (except that my check was cashed according to my bank)

I loved you OSU, but you didn't love me back. I'll be going to Seattle (or staying in Los Angeles if UCLA/Drew makes a decision) instead of Columbus. I really, really liked the school too!
 
has anyone gotten word on scholarships yet? when can we expect them?

I'm pretty sure that all the merit-based scholarships were given out some time ago. Granted, it's possible that if someone who holds one of these scholarships decides to go to another school they could redistribute the money. Not sure if this happens though.

Otherwise, need-based scholarships should come when you receive your financial aid package. I believe those were distributed mid-April last year.

So they have been given? I heard something earlier in the thread but was confused because their financial aid email said all merit and need based financial aid would be announced in mid April. Anyone confirm that the merit based scholarships have been given?

Well, the e-mail states that when you receive your notification in mid April that it will list all scholarships (merit and need) and loans that are being offered. I do not think this means that it'll be the first time you are notified of merit based scholarships.

Krayak has stated that he/she has received a merit scholarship (50% tuition). In previous year's threads people were notified at the beginning of January FWIW.

Yes you will pretty much know when you have gotten merit scholarships, the case is if you have to ask then you most likely did not receive them. But OSU is great at giving scholarships during school based on your performance, comm service or leadership!

Soooooo

I havent heard back from OSU in a while. My status is still complete. Should I just hang up the towel on this one? Or are they actually still offering interviews?
 
holy ****, i'm so excited to be going to tOSU medical school this fall! is anybody else hoping to find a roommate over second look weekend?

+1. My parents paid for my MCAT, applications, and flying me to interviews, least I can do is share the orientation and stuff with them.
 
I paid for all my stuff. I just didn't want to be the one guy to show up with a mom 🙂
 
i'm showing up with my mom.....don't think you will be the only person with a glowing mom walking around telling everyone their son/daughter is a future doctor even though the people she willing be telling can say the same thing😀

Is anybody getting to Columbus on the Thursday (the 7th) before second look weekend? Any interest in getting together?
 
Does anyone know how to confirm the hotel reservation for the Second Look Weekend?? Renaissance Hotel, I think?
 
I'm an OSU undergrad. I'd love to get some ppl together and maybe I could show you some campus stuff, food, etc.

To me it sounded like once we rsvp to come they took care of the hotel for us, anyone else know?

Also I will be arriving on Thursday but unfortunately I will be arriving at around midnight or else I would love to meet up with others.

Are people who are getting in early just booking an extra night at the Renaissance on their own?

What hotel are you staying at?
 
I haven't booked the hotel yet, but probably just another night at the Renaissance so I don't have to worry about schlepping to another hotel.

I applied in December so it makes sense that I would have gotten a later interview but its on April 19th which sounds really late. Are people still being accepted or is this just interview for the waitlist. thanks!

I just booked another hotel for the first night.

I'm in your class, whoever you are. 🙂 I also applied late and I'm interviewing April 11th. Dunno what kind of spot we're interviewing for though.

We extended the interview process because we have more spots! We always interview for a spot, although obviously later in the interview process we would have less spots, ie in October maybe 2/3 get in, now maybe only 1/4 (not actual numbers, just an example). But you are interviewing for actual spot in the class, there is no point to extend the interviews if there's no spots left! Good luck!!!

Whe you say "more spots" do you mean there are more than 220 seats, or do you mean that 220 offers have not gone out yet?

this happens every week, so 220 gets close to being full, then as applicants get in other schools in which OSU is not their top choice, they withdraw, so more spots open up, and thus interviews extended for those spots. But I do not know how many spots are left, that info is not revealed

I say we meet at Ohio Union off High st. It's close to the better off-campus sort of things, plus you get to see the newest of our buildings. What kind of stuff did you absolutely want to see?

Hey guys,

I'm coming to second look weekend and staying in columbus till sunday to look for housing and get a feel for the city. How is the bus system on the weekends? Would that be enough to get me around the city including to and from the renaissance?
