Has anyone heard of post-interview rejections being sent out? I have only heard of people getting deferred status, including myself....

Yes. I guess some of us were so bad, they couldn't wait to wash their hands of us. Makes you wonder what positives they saw on paper, and how sincerity and passion sunk us.

Did you get an e-mail about your financial aid package or did you just check buckeyelink? Sorry you won't be coming. Good luck to you too!

Yikes... I hope the buckeyelink isn't showing my entire fin aid package. If it is, then I'm actually getting significantly more financial aid from the private schools I'm considering, which would be weird. Maybe this OOS-er won't be enjoying the legendary football saturdays after all...

Where do we check this?

How is everyone viewing financial aid? When I click on "View financial aid", all it shows is a Stafford promissory note...

Did you get Sam Matheny's e-mail yesterday? If so, go to www.buckeyelink.osu.edu and follow his directions to activate your account. Once you recieve the confirmation of your account's activation from OSU (via e-mail), return to www.buckeyelink.osu.edu and click on "Financial Aid Status." Log-in with your new username and you should find some fin aid info on the pages that follow. GL.

When were we given our OSU ID's? Only one's I seem to have are my AMCAS and the Password formula they gave us

Yea 🙁. It seems like it's such a fantastic place....I loved my interview day.

it's written on one of the letters contained within the hardcopy acceptance package that you received in the mail.

I dug my OSUID out of the very first e-mail that was sent to me -- I think it was from the University itself, not the college of medicine. I can't find it right now, but I think the subject was something along the lines of "your recent application to OSU."

I am so excited to be coming to OSU! And not just for the football! I plan on doing research in neuro-oncology and their cancer and immunology programs are top-notch. One of the program directors mentioned to me that of all schools he has worked at in his 30+ career, he is convinced OSU is #1 in the amount of nights eating out. Ha, the reasoning for this is OSU is recruiting top faculty like crazy (I mean look what Dr Stephen Gabbe did for Vanderbilt over this past decade), and they have the money to do it! I am really excited and was wondering if anyone had any general advice on balancing medical school classes with research, specifically for the ISP program.

Thanks!

Just withdrew, hope it makes room for someone great here! Good luck everyone.

Does anyone know if those accepted off the deferred list get a call from Dr. Capers? Or do we just get an online status update to notify us of our acceptance?

Even better question: are they even looking at us deferred people? Seems like interviews are going on forever and just piling more people on top of the list above us 🙁
Ugh

HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations. Go out and celebrate....Ill still be here hoping for the others to get a call.

Just got the call!!!!!!!!!!!
I've dreamed of this for five years,

GO BUCKS!!!!!!

I know we still have until midnight, but I'm starting to lose hope.

Yeah I was wondering the same, I see a lot of deferred people posting on the boards. Dr. Capers did mention that 15 people or so had been accepted off the deferred list when I interviewed March 14...But I suppose thats not an extraordinarily high number of folks

He said the exact same thing last wednesday when I interviewed... that about 15 people have gotten off.

I interviewed on Apr. 13 and still no call. Also about to lose hope on this one. 🙁🙁🙁

sorry guys stay positive! there has been a lot of movement so far, that's why we keep extending the interviews

Yo, Dr. Capers!
Instead of extending out more interview invites, just accept me. And then you can save the thumb drives for next year.

kk thx

Hey OSUMC2014, do you have any idea how often they review deferred applicants?

Just interviewed today. I was incredibly impressed with the facilities, the students and the expansion projects that are in the works. I would love to get the call on Monday from Dean Capers. :xf:
Good luck to all on the waitlist!!!

Well, I was rejected 🙁. My confidence is totally shot right now because my last two interviews ended in rejections.

Welcome to the class of 2015!!! Congratulations!!!!!!! Being an undergrad buckeye myself, I completely understand the dream come true feel. like Bush in 2004... 4 MORE YEARS!!! except w/o the eventual disappointment i hope LOL

I was wondering the same thing (got deferred this morning). I know they've accepted about 15 people so far. But, I'm not sure how many people are in the deferred pool and how many get acceptances and how often.

Lefty, don't lose hope. Something might work out for you, yet. If not this year, maybe next.

why does "deferred" sound so much scarier than wait list?

does anyone have an idea what percentage of people eventually get accepted after being deferred?

For all of those deferred and later accepted, in what format did you get the acceptance? Was it still on a Monday? Was it a call? Just wondering! Thanks so much!

Hey Guys!

Just spoke to the admissions office. They said that the interview season is now officially over but they wont look at deferred candidates till june (and that is only if their class falls short of seats).

I guess such is life.

does Ohio State over-enroll? (...or over-accept, I'm not sure how to phrase it)

No, most schools just accept to the class limit, then as ppl withdraw they accept more from waitlist or deferment etc

Are you asking if Ohio St. initially accepts more people than the class size? If so, then the answer (for every medical school for that matter) is yes.

It seems like medical schools have a very good idea of how many people they need to accept to fill their class. I believe that most schools usually over accept by as much as 2x the class size (depending on the school and data from previous years). They will usually start pulling from the waitlist once the class dips below the entering class size.

All of this is, of course, is school dependent, but every school over accepts by a certain amount (especially schools that commonly accept applicants that garner multiple acceptances). I believe that UVA over-accepted by too much last year, not as many people withdrew as they were expecting, and they had to ask people to defer for a year. I believe those who deferred were allowed to pursue a masters without paying tuition.
