Hey guys, quick question: How long did it take after you got your "complete" emails for your application status to appear on Merlin?

They didn't ask me anything about that. Mostly they wanted to know why tech and why El Paso, things like that. There were no unusual questions that I remember
I got this from the interview thread on what to bring. I just wanted to know for El Paso specific, is it okay to store a backpack with the admissions office? Where's the most appropriate? I'm taking a huge risk (because I need to keep my job but so far no one can pick up my work shift the night before) by flying in the same day and then out after. =(

I know of at least one other person at my interview who flew in the day of and went home right after. They let you store any of your things in the room where they do all the presentations. They say they leave it open all day for you to come and go when you have time and there's staff there watching your stuff all day so it's safe. I had my giant suitcase stored in there, as did almost everyone else

Yup, there's a shuttle that leaves at the end of the day. The day ends at 3. One thing of advice, if you have an interview scheduled at 2:30, make sure you tell someone to have the bus wait for you. Mine was at 2:30 and went over a few minutes so I missed their bus. Luckily I had a friend who could give me a ride

Got an interview at Tech El Paso yesterday via email! 😀 That makes two Tech interviews in Texas! Hopefully I will get some more love! Set for September 30th (earliest date offered)... Application sent to Tech from TMDSAS on 6/1/10, letters received and complete on 7/20/10. So it took a little over a month to get the interview invite. So excited! Glad that my undergrad GPA and lower end MCAT is not hindering interviews in Texas. I mean, having a less than 3.0 undergrad GPA on TMDSAS and getting interviews is amazing...
Congratulations! I'm interviewing the week before you so I'll let you know how it goes. This is my first Texas interview though, so I need me some more Texas love! Then again, I'm waiting on one more MCAT score which should be released this Tuesday... AHHH so nervous!
I interviewed 8/16. Do you know how early we can hear from them? (Do we really have to wait until Nov 15?)

Yup! You really have to wait... Sucks for me since I have so many out of state interviews. Means I have to keep going until I hear from Texas or get a good out of state acceptance! Then I will just pay the out of state deposit and do some more waiting for Texas! :/
I haven't been so lucky, got a 3.2 undergrad with a 3.7 grad gpa (masters in medical science thru BU SOM) and 31 MCAT (twice) and no interview invite yet. application compete in june and sent to them on 7/27 (needed latest mcat).

They were the first school I heard from. 🙁 And they're really friendly. I'm so sorry, you must be so confused! You have awesome stats, tho...so you should be fantastic. 😳

The server for my e-mail was down when the school emailed interview invations. I called the school to make sure my application was good to go and they stated I was invited for interview two weeks ago. Yikes!! I was able to re-schedule. I am interviewing on Sept 30th. Who else is interviewing that day?

Stuff like this scares the crap out of me. I was complete at PLF at 8/13. Should I call too?
That's so scary!! When did were you complete, if you mind me asking? (Do they send out complete emails?) I got an "Application Received" email on August 6th and haven't heard from them since, and based on all the previous posts, I'm entertaining calling the admissions office too.

lol I think your situation is way better than mine. TT El Paso is the only school I've received an invite from. I submitted my TMDSAS and AMCAS on June 1, and most of my secondaries were done in June and July. But I retook the MCAT on July 29 and got the new scores last week. I went from a 28 to a 34. I just sent update letters to all the other schools...
oh wow congrats on the 34! that's a good increase in your score and don't worry you still have plenty of time, you should be fine especially with your 34...
TTUHSC El Paso is the only Texas school I have an interview with. I wish I was in your shoes! I submitted my application on May 3rd and knew my e-mail server was down. A virus hit my work server and crashed the whole system for 3 weeks, that was the reason why I called the school. The ball is in your court. See above for my stats.
thanks dude. that means a lot. i really hope i can get a lot more interviews with this new score. i'll need to work some more hours to make more money before i go to those interviews though. i'm so broke now!
Let us know how your call went! It'll help me make my decision about whether or not I should bug the admissions office 😛

so I ended up calling today and the admissions staff were out of their office so I left a message... lol I wonder if I'll get a call back... maybe I should email them... they will probably get annoyed of me lol

I had almost lost hope but finally after a long wait I heard from TT El Paso.

don't worry man... I waited a while before I heard anything... but maybe in a week or two you could call them and see if they received your new mcat score or something, the staff was really nice and helpful when I called.

The interview day was really, I thought, one of the best in terms of it's organization and clarity. Dr. Schydlover (??) fully explains the school's curriculum & training opportunities available for students.
Just sit back, smile, and enjoy it. Most of the interviewers really friendly and chill; I heard 1 interviewer is "intense," but I didn't get her, and hopefully you won't either haha !

I'm not in anyway equating all the Texas MD public programs, but I'm just thinking that maybe El Paso saw something in my app that other Texas schools will also see. My numbers are average (3.8 cGPA, 30 MCAT).
Anybody care to share their own opinions/perspectives? Thanks!

I only have interviews from Tech Lubbock and Tech El Paso... So far I hope! Though my numbers are way lower than yours, I will say that I think Tech looked at my application experiences more than my stats. This may be why I haven't received any other interviews in Texas yet... Your stats are ok for all of the schools in Texas, so I wouldn't worry yet. Its still early! Don't freak out! Unlike Tech, the UT schools seem to do things in order of GPA and MCAT scores... That is, from what I have seen, they have not really extended interviews to people with mid to high 20s MCATs yet. I think that they will be doing this later in Nov and Dec though... I hope!

Honestly, I think it is really just kind of random. not that they give random people interviews...just that how and why is way more complex than it seems. b/c i only have a 28 MCAT and have an interview to UT Houston on October 1st. but i haven't heard from any other UT system med school yet. so i really don't know how they do it. so no matter what I wouldn't worry....you might hear from some schools right away and other 4-5 months later!
Hey everyone! First time poster, long time lurker here. I finally created an account today because I got an interview invite here this past Friday and couldn't hold in my excitement any longer!!! Nothing else really to say except that I hope everything is going great for you all and that the anxiety isn't taking to much of a toll on you. I know I am already really anxious again hoping that I get another interview invite sometime soon.

Mine is missing too. Hope it is not a big deal....I had spoken with them weeks ago and they were having problems with Merlin.
