FYI: So I called the admissions office this morning and the lady said that the Dean is going to make a decision by the end of the day of deciding whether or not to disclose an applicant's rank on the wait list; therefore I should call back tomorrow. I hope they tell us ranks in thirds like every other year...

I also called, and got the same answer. They might know what's going on by later this afternoon, so I would call back.
 
I just read that the university will be closed tomorrow because of the weather; does anyone know if the interviews have also been canceled? Thanks

I go to UB for undergrad so since they closed, which they never ever close im assuming that interviews are probably cancelled.. the email i got was that only essential employees are to report, but im not 100% sure if they are cancelled.
 
Both campuses of the whole university are closed tomorrow, so I'm assuming interviews must be canceled as well.

The streets outside are down to the pavement right now, but we are supposed to get 1-2 feet of snow overnight.

The last time all of UB closed was the freak October snowstorm of 2006. All of the trees in Western New York collapsed because the leaves were in full bloom and the snow had a remarkably heavy consistency.

Most Buffalo residents were without power for about 2 weeks.
 
Yay!! I was just contacted by the school and interviews are still being held tomorrow. Hopefully the weather doesn't get too bad.

Yes. I got a call from Dean Severin and the interviews are still on but the timing will be more flexible.

Attending the interview, despite the snowstorm, can only help your chances.

Sucks, but its not a rejection, and they interview through the end of April. They probably haven't gotten to your app yet.

Your GPA and EC's are crazy good, and more than make up for your average MCAT score.

Plenty of people that interview in March and April get into UB, so don't count yourself out.

I'm sorry you have to be from California, where no one can really fall back on a state school.
 
I interviewed here today and I really liked it. The weather wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting but the campus was closed so we didn't get as thorough a tour as we normally would have. The faculty and staff were great (especially the enthusiastic Mr. Rosso). I hope I get in so I have to make the hard choice between Buffalo and Upstate.

Also great is that they tell you their decision the next day. Why can't every school do this???

Have hope. The dean said that they interview into April and all interviews are for actual spots and not just the waitlist. I wish you luck.

I'm glad you liked UB. That tour can get extremely long, so in a way, you lucked out with the campus being closed. Mr. Rosso makes it awesome though.

Accepted!!! Now I actually have a choice to make. I never would have thought I'd be in this position.

Very nice, congrats!

Only you can make this decision. There is no rush, as you have until May 15th.

Definitely fill out your FAFSA if you haven't already, and see which school gives you the better financial package.

Also try to compare the pros and cons of living in Buffalo or Syracuse. I personally think that Buffalo is a more interesting place to live. Syracuse is most likely closer to home for you, so that might influence your decision.

Both schools have an integrated organ systems based approach to their curriculum. Classes are usually done by noon or 1pm at UB, which is nice.

You really can't go wrong with either school. Pick Upstate so I can move up the waitlist at UB.:meanie:

I know this question has been asked a million times, but while I wait I have to ask again: As far as we know, NO ACTION = not reviewed yet? Is it possible that some of us have already been reviewed and are hold? :\

Anyway, yes, I'm pretty sure that NO ACTION means not yet reviewed.

UB doesn't do rolling admissions, so you should still be in the running.

I don't think UB does holds, or if they do, they don't notify applicants of it.

Keep in mind that if you are invited, it doesn't really matter how late in the season your interview is for your overall chances. They keep seats open until the very last interview day in late April.

Congrats on the acceptance!

Considering that your interview was on our snow day, please feel free to post/PM me with ANY questions you'd like answered from a student's perspective. You usually would talk to current students during lunch, and I would usually stop into the lounge to talk to you while you wait for interviews (because interviewees are cooler than studying). Since you undoubtedly missed out on this, I'd be glad to answer anything you've got, from school to the city to anything unrelated.

If you post here, give me a couple days to check, PM's would be quicker response. This applies to any who interviewed on this or ANY day. Glad to help. I'm a first year by the way.

When your status changes (to either rejected or interview) do you get an email notification that your status has changed?

Or is it a silent rejection?

If your status is NO ACTION, it's not a silent rejection, and you are still in the running.

Interview invites are by email, and your status should also change to "Invited for Interview" or something to that effect.
 
Forgot to post: I received an interview invite last week (early February). I declined the offer a few days ago. Hope one of you guys got/gets my interview spot! :xf::luck:

Edit: Interview date was Feb. 16th, if I remember correctly.

Your chances are actually not that bad. They usually get around to accepting most (sometimes all) of the middle third each year. They usually get through the whole top third by mid to late June, so it's going to be a long wait. There is a also a chance of moving up to the top third, so keep calling back periodically to find out.

Also, feel free to add yourself to the waitlist thread. 🙂

Hey guys, just got an interview invite yesterday. I'm pretty set on Temple, though, so I don't think I'll be interviewing here.
 
For those with 2 on 1 interviews, I had the same thing when I interviewed last cycle. For me, they told me it was because the main interviewer was still learning the process. It doesn't mean anything special, good or bad.
