Status changed to accepted this Thursday after interviewing on this Wednesday. 🙂

So it's true that there are definitely spots still open in the class for the people interviewing.

Go in and give it your best, good luck everybody!

Congrats!🙂

Do you think you would be more likely to attend Buffalo or Upstate?

Yes, it's true that Buffalo doesn't fill their class until the end of the interview season. They also don't hand out more acceptances than seats, so their waitlist should move really nicely (that's what I'm hoping).

Not sure yet, I'm probably going to have to go visit each school one more time before I decide. It's going to be a tough decision. If you have any helpful insight on the two schools I'd love to hear it.

Congratulations! I'm in the same predicament. I'm leaning towards Buffalo because it's more research-oriented. Upstate seemed friendlier, though. Then again, I interviewed at Buffalo during the snow storm and met only two students because of the campus closure.

If you find out any information, let me know and I'll do likewise.

Anyone know if Buffalo is done sending out interview invitations?

i hope not! i sat all last year staring at NO ACTION till march 31 and i was hoping not to have to do it again this year! last year march 31 i think was their last day of granting interviews. if not the 31, then some day towards the end of march

This sounds right. They are still inviting, so sit tight. They keeps seats open until the last interview day too.

I just received an interview invite yesterday! I had about given up on ever hearing anything from Buffalo. So there is still hope everyone.

Intresting, so buffalo interviews well into april? AM i hearing that correct. I would love a last minute ny interview from them.

I don't think its well into April. I believe April 1st is the last day, correct? Since that's when they pick their class? (or acceptances given = # of seats in class).

Is it actually April 1st? Didn't they interview into late April last year? :\

I'm unclear on this too. Someone earlier on the page said March 31 was the last day they grant interview invites , so I assumed it goes into late April. But at the same time, that is late to be having interviews compared to other schools

They did interview into late April last year, with all of the seats filled by May 1st.

A late March invite is probably for a late April interview.

There are no interviews solely for waitlist positions. There are some applicants that receive an outright acceptance on every interview day, even the last one.

And, congrats on the invite, Packerm!

Does SUNY Buffalo reject people straight up or silent reject? I was complete June 1, am a NY resident. Does the fact that I haven't heard anyhting mean they glanced over me, or is it just they probably have not looked at my app yet because of random review?

It's very possible they haven't reviewed your app yet. You could still be invited for sure.

I think eventually, everyone still stuck at NO ACTION gets rejected by status change, most likely around March 31st. This appears to be what happened on last year's thread.

Do you guys think I should send an update letter for an interview? I have called in multiple times and I was told to hold off until the school contacted me first. What do you think?

From what I've heard, the admissions office won't acknowledge any update or interest letters unless you are invited for an interview. They definitely accept letters post-interview.

If you want to send a letter, it can't affect your chances adversely, they just probably won't look at it.

Good luck, the interviewing season isn't over for UB.:luck:

I think you have your answer. 🙂

To be honest, I think people on this site overrate update letters. Unless there is some truly impressive change, it probably doesn't have much of a bearing on admissions. I always loved when people sent one, got an interview, and then say they think it helped. How the heck would they know if it helped? It's extrapolating from a single data point.

I agree. The first time I applied, I still hadn't heard anything from about 10 schools. I only didn't send updates (i.e. my fall grades) to the few schools I knew I had no shot and one school with a supposedly disorganized office. Every other school I sent an update to.

The one school I got an invite from was the one school I didn't send an update to. I could easily say that my updates hurt me, but that's obviously not the case. Bottom line is that these things likely make very little difference.

I mostly agree as well. SDN is probably the only place I've heard of that repeatedly mentions update letters or letters of interest.

While I keep thinking of sending a letter to UB, my chances of getting accepted off the waitlist probably won't change much. Waiting is the best thing I can do, since UB has a ranked list.

Unranked lists might be different, with update letters having more bearing on decisions.

Just received interview invite today for Wednesday March 9th. I am stoked; I was getting worried about my chances this cycle, but Buffalo coming through and giving me some more hope!

Hey that's great! I know you really wanted it. Rock that interview!

Does anyone know when they stop interviewing? I was looking forward to hearing back from Buffalo, since I live just across the state border in PA. No action after my secondary still. Hearing back from them would be very nice. 🙂

W00t i got my interview invite for next week today too! 😀 Just when I was starting to feel worried/depressed 🙂

Complete dates, please? Pretty please?
Also, IS or OOS?

And, before I forget, congrats! Kill those interviews 🙂

I'm an OOS (cali, but living in Philly atm).

I actually wonder what people recommend for going up to Buffalo - train/plane where to stay?, I"m glad its not the middle of winter, but I imagine there's still some snow 😛 (yay snow > rain/slush)

Still waiting on my packet in the mail.

I was a late completion I didnt finish all my AMCAs and secondaries until... september.

@ Junebloom - traveled from Philly myself

Obviously - the quickest, most convenient (even with security) way is going to be via plane. However, it's by far the priciest.

I used Megabus - they actually go to Buffalo! Long, long, bus ride but I brought HW and just slept alot. Ended up costing me ~$20-25 round trip too. Hotels will depend on your preference (close by, close to subway etc.). I used Hotwire (http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=93& to predict the hotel)

Good luck with the interviews! These are for acceptances, not just the waitlist.

Straight from the email they sent me when my application was complete: "
The Admissions Committee will evaluate your application anytime between now and March 31st. The "time factor" does NOT have any bearing on our decision-making process. Our last interview day of the year is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, 2011. We do not fill our entire class until after that date."

Also for Velour Fog, my application was marked complete 9/27 and I am an in-state applicant.

Just received an interview invite for March 9th! Im OOS from CA! Was not expecting but happy.

Just learned I am in the middle third of the waitlist. I really loved this school, so I wish I was in a better position :/

Not trying to be arrogant...

but have the people who were accepted been getting emails about creating a UBIT account. Does creating one mean you have to matriculate here?

I've been getting a bunch of e-mails about UB accounts. I really don't think setting up an account binds you into attending.

Does anyone know when we should expect to receive financial aid offers?

If you think you have a very good chance of matriculating at UB over other acceptances, I would go ahead and create the account. You have nothing to lose with that, anyway.

I already have a UBit account from my undergrad there. Even though I graduated, I get to keep my buffalo.edu email for life (or at least as long as Google exists). 🙂

I'm really hoping I get to stay in Buffalo.

just got an invite for the 23rd. hopefully UB will prevent me from having to drop 2k on a DO deposit.

Thanks man! Heres to be classmates next year :xf:!

Yeah, absolutely. I'm hoping the waitlist works out, and I know you can relate to that.

Decisions go out the very next day after interviewing here, so you could be accepted on the 24th!

you're top 1/3 you got nothin to worry about.

Thanks, I hope you're right!🙂

For whatever reason, I'm still very worried and can't relax at all.

One thing I've learned from this process is that nothing is ever certain with med school admissions.

If you don't mind, could you let me know when you submitted your AMCAS application?

Please feel free to PM if you want to keep it private for whatever reason.

Hey, submitted application in late July stats 3.8/33

Hey guys, long time reader and first time poster. I was fortunate enough to get into UB last week, and I know UB only gives a week to turn in the deposit, but I'm having trouble logging into the epay to pay by credit card. It keeps saying there is an error for some reason. Did anyone else have a problem with this? Does anyone know if we can mail in checks to the admissions office instead? Thanks! Good luck to everyone :luck:

I would call the admissions office tomorrow, and ask Mr. Rosso about it. This is not a bad problem to have.

Congrats on the acceptance! Maybe we will end up as classmates. 🙂

I had same issue when I was trying to use epay last year to submit my deposit. I'd say you should mail your deposit to Mr. Rosso and also call him tomorrow explaining why you did that as oppose to submitting it via epay. Hope to see you in fall.

Thanks for the quick responses guys, I'll definitely do that. Maxwell, I totally understand why you're feeling anxious about being on the waitlist, but my faculty interviewer told me that if I ended up in the top 1/3 of the waitlist, he guaranteed it would result in an acceptance based on his tears on the committee, so def try not to stress, I'm sure you'll be getting that acceptance soon!

Thanks. If I said I was accepted now, that would be complacent, but I'm getting better at waiting every day.🙂

Based on your SDN handle, are you from Boston? Bruins fan?
