This is for those who have interviewed, did it take a while before you heard back from the school after you interview about your status as far accepted, rejected, or waitlisted?

haha...well, they say it should take 6-8 weeks but I've heard of it taking 12+ weeks.
I got the call last night! Hooray! Interviewed late Sept.

Hey everyone, just received my interview invite (OSS). I recieved my schedule for the interview day and it appears that I am interviewing with two MS4s. Is this the norm? It just seems a little different that what I've hear of/seen at other medical schools.

Got my rejection letter today.
3.6/33, OOS so I kind of expected it.
Sorry 🙁 Was it a letter letter or an email?
Letter. It was thicker than the previous envelopes with 3 pages inside actually. I almost thought I got accepted pre-interview 🙂
I particularly enjoy how the rejection letter assumes since they didn't want us no one else will either. It's a little bit rude. I am not saying this cycle is going amazing or that I will accepted somewhere else because I don't know at this point but not everyone they reject will have to reapply. Just saying...
congrats! when was your secondary submitted/ your file complete? thanks.
Rejections? I sure hope not.Sorry to everyone that got rejected... Keep your heads up, they'll come soon!
I interviewed at the U on October 11th. I haven't heard anything yet but Dean White said that we should expect to wait 6-8 weeks. I'm just so anxious - it's my top choice.
I interviewed in late September with the same 6-8 weeks from Dean White. No word yet and frankly I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't hear until December given last year's thread and what I have heard.
Don't worry, we are all scrambling for the phone every time we think it is ringing...
Hey guys, don't give up hope yet! Just got the call from Dean White regarding my acceptance! I interviewed all the way back in September, so the wait was pretty long..about 7 weeks.

Well, I guess the wait is over for me too... I was rejected this week pre-interview.
I'm actually pretty confused. After receiving two interview invites last year and making the wait list at the U, I've had more difficult classes with better grades, more leadership and teaching experience, and now more clinical experience, and I was rejected pre-interview from my state school, as well as the other school at which I had an interview and one other, and have had no other interview invites.
I'm not saying I deserve interviews, but I guess I just don't understand what I have to do to get into medical school...
Clark807, what was you interview date in Duluth? I interviewed on the 18th and am still waiting to hear. Did it come in the mail or did they call you?

Hey everyone...OSS here and was wondering if anyone wanted to make a recommendation on where to stay and how to get around town (best way from the airport to hotel, etc.). It looks like there is a Radisson on campus but they require a 3 night stay. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
There is light rail from the airport to the West Bank of the U of M. The Holiday Inn at 7-corners is about 2 blocks from the west bank and a 10-15 minute walk to Moos tower/med-school across the washington ave bridge (cool walk). You will also be able to walk around downtown Minneapolis from the Holiday Inn. A couple good places to eat there and the neighborhood directly south is very diverse. I work right around there and feel safe.
If you have any other questions, PM me.
I second the Holiday Inn idea. It'll be cheaper than anything downtown. BUT the walk from the Holiday Inn to Moos tower is probably more like 30 min. If you walk from the Holiday Inn to the west bank end of the washington avenue bridge (5-10 min walk) you can catch the free campus connector underneath the bridge on the south side (stairs clearly visible from the plaza between Blegen and Anderson Halls) and ride to the Moos Tower stop, turning a cold 20 minute walk into a warm 5 minute bus ride.
Also, it's a bit of a walk from the light rail stop over to the Holiday Inn, and I wouldn't recommend taking that walk alone at night. A better plan might be to stay in a hotel near the airport, then take the light rail in the morning. You can get off the light rail at the Metrodome, then take bus #16 or 50 from the light rail stop (take the stairs down from the platform, the bus shelter is right there). Both of those buses stop at Moos Tower.
Thanks for the advice. I booked a room at the Holiday Inn. I get in during the day. Care to give more explicit instructions on how to take the light rail to the Holiday Inn? Or where to go to get to my interview in the morning?
Thanks!
That sucks Betheltim. I have been feeling for awhile like schools say they are looking for X but then they consistently chose Y. I just don't understand 🙁 But keep faith. We will both get into medical school eventually and I am still pretty convinced it will be together.
