yeah, i tried emailing them, but no reply.. ive emailed twice...
so i guess i will call some time soon. thanks.

and yes, i did mean graduating from a university and doing prereq's at a CC. (cause I'm doing the nursing program already at UT-houston, and it doesnt have the med school prereq's in its curriculum. so i just wanted to save some money and get it done at a CC right after I finish nursing school.)

after you finish school is different. Someone may bring it up but I think it would be easy to explain. It may not look quite as good as doing it at a university, but it won't sink your application.
 
thanks. i actually called them last week and they explained that it would be ok to do prereqs at a CC if i already graduated. but if i was doing prereqs while completing my degree, it would look bad if i chose to do the prereqs in a CC
 
I really don't like how UT-H only does one batch of prematch offers. It feels like a cheap way to improve their rankings.
 
what 😕

they do this to leave the same number of seats for everyone, whether they interview on the first day or the last day. they don't want applicants to be at a disadvantage if they got their application in late.

I'm not sure how it's a cheap ploy when it's basically the most fair way you can do things. you realize the prematch offer is a fairly new addition to the match system?
 
So...having some minor freak out about the pending pre-match. I have a few questions.

Does the school email you? And I know UTH sends out less pre-match offers compared to other schools, but who gets pre-match offers? Are they the school's favorite ones who have been interviewed between September and Early November, or are they just the ones who interviewed early on in the cycle?
I interviewed pretty early in September and I was wondering if that gives me any advantage..

I hear ya on the mini freak out... I feel it also. They will email you, probably in the morning or afternoon tomorrow. As for who they prematch, it will be the people they want the most, now that doesn't mean you have to be the one with the highest numbers either. Interviewing early definitely gives you an advantage. They are still doing interviews now, so the people they have to choose from in the Pre match is out of a smaller pool of applicants. But who knows, it's all random for the most part... 🙂

Accepted! Does it seem like they prematched more this year? I know two of my other friends who were also accepted...

I'll ask someone in admissions if we're doing more prematches this year. We do have a new director of admissons, so maybe something has changed with the prematch.

If so that would kinda suck because I told interviewees all year that we don't prematch many people.

I think it may still be the same as the past. I remember this time last year, it appeared that alot of people pre-matched (not including me) and I was so bummed out about it. But when the numbers came in, it seemed about the same. But yeah, ask admissions to be sure. I have also been telling interviewees all year that we don't pre-match many. 😳
 
I got accepted too! See you all at orientation in August! 😀 😀 😀

Thanks for your message cher25. I'm feeling a little bummed out at the moment. 🙁 Would you say that the people posting their acceptances on this thread only comprise 10% of the matches?

Tell me that there is still hope! :scared:

yes, a very small percentage. UT H really doesn't pre-match many. And SDN gives you a skewed perception of reality in the sense that most people post their positive result as opposed to others who may receive a negative result (very unlikely to post). Think about it, if 30 people on SDN post a pre-match and the class is 230 people, that's still a very small percentage. UT H matches heavily and a good number come off the waitlist too. The reason that UTH doesn't heavily pre-match, per my discussion with Ms. Nancy Murphy, is because now that pre-match has come around, several students will hold on to several spots at different schools. The schools are unable to make new offers until the spot frees up which will likely not be until late January when students are forced to narrow their pre-match acceptances down to one school. Hang in there. UTH was my first choice and when I didn't pre-match I was really frustrated. But it all worked out in the end.

Thanks again cher25! You are right. It might look like a lot of people are hearing back, but it is a very small group in comparison to the entire class size. I appreciate your comforting words! I guess I will just have to be a little more patient for the next few months.

I know this probably comes lower on the priority list compared to all these pre-match acceptances (Congrats!), but I finally got an interview invite today for this Friday OOS applicant! Good thing I already live in the Med Center! So excited. Definitely one of my top choices in TX! TMDSAS transmitted all the way back in June so there's still hope! 😀

Less than a week's notice for an interview invitation?

I was also complete in June. This gives me hope.

At my interview last friday 11/12, they said they were only going to send out one batch on 11/15 then match the rest
 
Hi everyone! I got a prematch offer from UT-Houston today, as well as a scholarship for 2011-12.
Does anyone know how scholarships work after MS1? Would my scholarship be renewed for 2012-13, etc?

I didn't get my prematch offer until something like December 29.

In the email, it says if you plan to accept please respond within 2 weeks.. I thought we had until Jan 15th(rank due)/The Match to decide??

You can hold multiple prematch acceptances, so go ahead and accept it if you're considering our school. On January 15 you have to choose the 1 prematch offer you'd like to keep and release all others.

The idea is that you can/should turn down an offer you don't want so that they can give that seat out to other applicants. You don't have to choose a specific school right now though, so you can accept as many prematch offers as you'd like. It is not locking you in to any one school. You can still give up the prematch offer at a later time.
 
Am I correct in assuming that if I haven't heard from UTH by now I will not be receiving a prematch offer today?

The school has a lot of scholarships for first years, certainly a lot more than for the other three years. Unless it says in the letter that your scholarship is for all four years, it is probably just for the first year. Some needs-based scholarships may be different however.

I only must've heard the whole "UT Houston doesn't prematch very many people" spcheal around a trillion times during interview day. I was actually very surprised when I got an acceptance this morning.

Around 80% of their spots are filled in the match. Just rank them #1 in the match and you'll be ok. Sending love and well wishes your way!!!! 😀

It ain't over until February!

Do you know if they send out more pre-match offers as people decline their offers?

I prematched elsewhere today but UTH is still my top choice. And I know most people get offers on match day but a pre-match would be an awesome holiday gift 🙂
