hey guys, dumb question. but after the Personal Statement and Summary Page. What's after? I'm guessing just a link to pay for the secondary via online/credit card?

what do you mean? when you're done just save it and then click submit, it will take you to where you can pay online

that's what i want to do with mine, but i'm having trouble finding info (i said this earlier, but didn't get a response to my post). i've been able to find really specific info re: international opportunities, student groups, classes taken, etc. for other schools but haven't found too much specific info for wake anywhere... can you help point me in the right direction? any specific links you found with detailed info re: the program?

thanks in advance!

Not sure if you've seen these resources but I'll point them out to you and anyone else considering Wake:

Look at the 2009-2010 bulletin (go to the "Academic programs" page and there is a link to the PDF on the right in the "Quick reference" section). Go to the sections on the curriculum to find descriptions of the actual classes you would be taking. Wake has some unique aspects to their curriculum, which I can expand on if anyone wants, but the bulletin is a good place to start. There is also information in there on specific initiatives and areas of focus within the medical center.

A list of student organizations can be found here:
http://www.wfubmc.edu/School/Student-Organizations.htm
Note that this list is not exhaustive, but gives you some idea of the specific groups

I think someone in an earlier post mentioned something about underserved care. If you are interested in that, here is the site for DEAC:
http://www.wfubmc.edu/DEAC/

I will also mention the MD/MS program because I think it's pretty cool; obviously there are other joint programs too:
https://www.phs.wfubmc.edu/public/edu.cfm

I agree that the med school website isn't as useful as some of the others, but there is info there. You can find good information on specific areas of research or treatment if you search around a bit. For example, Wake has a large emphasis on aging research and care.

I am a current student at Wake if anyone has specific questions about things. I don't know that much yet but I did manage to make it through the application process successfully last year (miraculously). I interviewed at about 10 schools so I have some idea of what makes Wake unique and desirable compared to some other places (and where it could improve as well)

Hey... so i need some advice... anything you can throw at me would be greatly appreciated!
I have a 3.85 and I just took my MCATS and I wasn't super comfortable with them (I really don't think it was anything less than a 26 or 27). I have a ton of extracurricular stuff... I am a medic, I work in the ER, run rescue, blah blah blah, a year of research and a ton of shadowing. What are my chances of getting in here?

Submitted secondary 8/16 and just got the message that it has been received but will take 2-3 weeks to upload letters and be marked as complete? Is this accurate? My letters have been on amcas since 7/8

I submitted the secondary 8/13 and got this status on my page this morning:

"Secondary Application has been received. If your recommendation letters have been received by AMCAS we will be loading them into our system soon. We do this in batches so please allow 2-3 weeks for your file to be complete"

I'm assuming the 2-3 weeks include the past week of waiting for this status. I also have had my recommendations in since early July.

They'll get it done.

You can book at the Hawthorne Inn, which is in downtown. It's a hospital owned hotel, so you might have a discount? There's a shuttle service from the Inn to the hospital at any time during the day upon request from 7 am to 8 pm. Other then that, I cant think of other hotels near the hospital.

110 Miller Street, Winston Salem, NC 27103

This place is within walking distance (they also have a shuttle that will bring you to the entrance you need to be at, in case the weather is bad)
I stayed there and it's a really nice hotel and pretty inexpensive.

Thanks.. hopefully they like me enough to just accept me instead of putting me on the waitlist and missing an acceptance by 2 people withdrawing like last year.. ::fingers crossed::

Hi, I'm interviewing here on September 8th and I'm actually arriving on the plane 8:40AM on the same day. Is anybody else going to be at the airport then and if so, would you like to split a cab to the medical center?

I'm curious if Wake has given out any rejections or if they do silent rejections

Jadealer, were you given the "hold" status this year before your invite? CONGRATS!

is there any type of legit status check? or do you just log back into the secondary?

I was complete on a thursday then went away with no internet access for 4 days and when I checked on Tuesday I had an invite so I am not sure exactly when it came or whether I was on hold at all.

Quick question for those of you who scheduled interviews

Initially I got an email that said to call to schedule an interview.

I called and scheduled it, then next day they sent an email with the interview date I chose and other information. The email said to confirm the interview date by sending a response to a given email address.

I sent my confirmation email, I was curious if people were then getting an additional email finalizing that you had confirmed the date

No, I did not get a follow up e-mail confirmation of the interview confirmation. Lots of confirmations with Wake

Wake screens its secondaries, so if one doesn't get screened in, then a screen out means rejection. I was fortunate to be screened in here 🙂, but not so lucky at a few other places 😱
Oh well, win a few, lose a few :luck:

Yes, I did get an interview invitation. My stats are pretty standard, not outrageous. I'm a bit reticent about sharing my stats to the vast public. I'll pm you though.

How are most people getting to the interview (especially those from the mid-Atlantic)? I'm from NY and undecided on how to get there....

I just got complete on 8/27. What is the general timeframe between people being complete and invites? It seems like a month is pretty standard. Any input from people who already got invites?

rpg i thinkkkkkk some people have been invited pretty quickly. check through the thread to find out. i've been complete for a few weeks, havent heard anything else though.

I think I was pre-interview pooled a day after being complete (status update), and then invited (via e-mail) a week later.

hmm... it been a week, maybe Wake will show me some love soon :xf:

"Dear Applicant:

All materials needed for your application have been received and your file is now complete.

Your application will be reviewed throughout the year and if granted an interview, we will send you an invitation by email. Interview is by invitation from September through March. If you have not heard by April, you will receive notification of your status at that time."

Did everyone who got an interview receive this e-mail first?

I think the status message changes following review of your application.

I've been sitting on this secondary for 5 weeks now. How bad does it look to submit so late?

Do most people that pass the screen get interviewed?

If I remember correctly, this one had a three week deadline. Not sure if they'll accept it more than three weeks past the date you received it... worth emailing them to ask before you write your essay for it.

i'm guessing you have good stats ja?

lol no. 29P/3.8/3.73 So nothing spectacular. I applied last year though and was WLed and almost got accepted though (i.e. they did a background check but no one withdrew between the end of June and beginning of classes)

I applied 2 weeks late last year in december and still got an interview.. lol so at least year, they weren't super hardcore about it.

Finally got the secondary, my application was on hold until they got my MCAT scores..... anyway, I have no idea what to write about in the "additional comments" essay. What did you guys write about??

Interview season has started! I only know this because they sent us an email asking for ambassadors and saw a sharp looking group of interviewees today 🙂 Good luck everyone! If you have any questions about first year/WS feel free to pm me!

Out of curiosity, when were your scores released?

Just a question to anyone that might have some insight. My AMCAS application finished processing in the middle of August and I didn't receive an email from WF until 2 weeks later and that email just notified me that my application was processed and they would take an additional 1-2 weeks to review. Does this sound right?

Yes, that sounds right. 👍

to those of you who got interviews, how many of you wrote something for the additional information you want to tell the school section??
thanks :]
