What events are those?
There accepting alot less and putting bogus requirements now. They use to be more focused on creating a diverse student body but not now.

interview invite for sept 8th. they sent me the email on 8/23. in state and no edp
Congrats! That's really awesome because I was told 9/7 is the first day for interviews this season and they will be processing EDP applicants first... so your app must be pretty stellar 🙂
EDIT: Almost forgot, when were you complete?
Congrats on the interviews! I'm a MS1 here so feel free go ask any questions. I like the school and the clinical experiences we get but I'm not a fan of the environment. It's very competitive here and it gets pretty high school sometimes. I'm not sure if every school is like this but people are definitly not helpful or do they even care to help. Some are very immature and walk and talk like they are already experienced doctors when we've been in school for like 3 weeks. So if u have a laid back personality I don't suggest coming here. But if you are a super gunner and like to think u know everything then this is the place for u! I don't even mean that in a negative. It's purely a difference in personality. But then again after anatomy only 30 people will actually go to class so there is little interaction with your classmates n
For those coming from Cali it's very different here. The people are not what used to especially at ucs!
Besides the gunner attitude here everything else is pretty cool so far.
Anyways just wanted to give u guys some inside scoop and hope to see u around in a few weeks!

Hey there fellow Cali person whom I'm sure I've met and probably know! I disagree about the competitiveness although I do not like the academic environment too much either. I don't think most people are competitive as in they will sabotage you or will not be willing to help you out if they get something you don't. Nor do I think most people here are the annoying "gotta honors" crowd. That is in spite of the way the system is set up here (one of the worst of any med school in my opinion) in making everything based on a curve and therefore making exams super anal about the details to seperate the overachievers from sane people and also not encouraging people to work as colleagues but rather as competitors.
I really have a problem with the material having a lot of bs information. Not relevant information that you will use as a physician most likely (and if you do, you will most certainly relearn it later) nor that you will ever see in Step 1 but rather fine print bs crap in order to make these test based on a curve and find the people who study 23 hours a day from those that just want to get a solid basic science foundation to do well on the boards and become well prepared for the clinical years.
I do like the environment in that you can be whatever you want here. You can be the super anal type about studying. You can be the kind who really wants early clinical experience or serving the community (many here are that way). You can shadow or do research over the breaks (because you will have no time during the year) or join many many groups. You can stream and never see another person except during lab or you can be super social and know everyone. Most people find there niche and are rather happy I think.
Overall, I'd say our class is very bright, very driven (I hear more so than ever), and very friendly and cool. If you fit that description then you will fit right in here haha 😛
I know this is a lame question guys, but what did you guys set as your margins? I haven't typed up something in awhile. 1 inch on each side? I use openoffice which uses as a standard .8 all around.
Is the invite by email or by snail mail?
I use 1" on each side.
I don't think there is a consensus on this... some people have been getting them via snail mail and some people via e-mail, which I think is weird. Maybe they switched to e-mail really early on? Or maybe it's only in-state applicants who get snail mail? These ideas are just guessing on my part lol.

It's probably not the in-state thing since I'm OOS and mine came via snail mail. So random. 😛
Rejected pre-secondary 🙁
this thread has been slow lately so i thought id bring it back as i gear up for the interview- has anyone interviewed here yet?
also- does anyone know if OOS students can gain instate tuition after the first year?
I think the first interviews are being held next Friday.

As I understand it (I'm no expert) one cannot establish residency in MI while in school. Therefore, no IS tuition ever if you are not a resident when you start school.
