Hmm... still toying the idea of applying or not to CCLCM at the moment. Anyone know whether it is bad to apply say like mid-August (that's when I'll be verified - probably)? I read somewhere that CCLCM interview spots fill up very fast, so kind of wondering.... School looks really good though (based on Google Map 😀).
Earlier is generally better than later in any admissions process (actually in almost everything in life). But Case and CCLCM have a rolling admissions process that still accepts students who apply up until the last date. We only accept set chunks at a time. That said, your chances of getting an interview are lower if you wait that long. But August isn't exactly "late," despite what might be said by the gunners who've gotta gun. 😛

edit: omg, how did I not notice I took the top???

Thus, I will unsheathe the real ultimate power.

Good point. I mean, I initially hoped to submit AMCAS by end of June originally but that wasn't going to happen... so two weeks later than expected and that pushes me to August. About August being late, I got the impression from CCLCM website: "Because we admit a small number and can invite a limited number of students for an interview, we highly recommend you apply in June or July."

Not that I didn't know that but just wondering. The essays for the programs look like they are going to take sometime... so that's why I asked. 🙂

Start working on the essays while you're waiting on your AMCAS verification. That way you're ready to submit your secondary as soon as you get it. At this stage verification will probably take at least a couple weeks.

I is here VC7777 - but your not. YOU WIMP AND COWARD - Come fight me like mang.
Me and my lawyer are here....im paying $450 an hour dude, not fair....

On a side note: Do you know how many people are invited to interview at CCLCM and how many are accepted?

which bike rack were you at? 😏 also I told you to bring two...should have been $900 and hour....muahahaha.

Yes. I do...

It is hard to say. Theoretically we could accept the first 32 and have nobody decline. In reality it will be closer to 40-ish people before the start of class.

The total number of interviews is also not set in stone. If, for example, people do not sign up for earlier interview dates or they cancel without reasonable warning- then those interviews spots are lost.

Thanks for the info. I went to the east bike rack btw. If/When im there for an interview, me and my eggplant souffle will take you on - beast mode.

- can't follow directions, ral

So...you seem bored today, ral? #3 on your list should be #1, FYI.

Very Bored good sir. Trying to finish two secondaries, NYU and PSU.

Research tomorrow, that should be exciting.

I found a rather handy guide to the various types of eggplants and their uses today. I'll have to share that with everyone later.

If you guys are going to be dueling, you really need to name seconds in case one or both of you don't show up.

Those that have gotten interviews: Did you apply solely to the UP, or both the UP and CP?

has anyone gotten emails from case saying that they haven't received secondaries (well in my case i hadn't done it)...are those personal emails or standard?

I think they are standard. I received an email from them saying that they were looking forward to learning more about me and urged me to submit my secondary. Yours say the same thing?

I have been following this thread and it appears nobody has heard from the CP program, so I will be the first to share my unfortunate news. Below the CP program of iapply, it says I was unable to receive an interview. I did not receive an e-mail. I was complete on July 21.

Anyway, I am dissappointed, but I wish you all the best of luck. Thanks to all the current students for answering my previous questions and providing valuable insight.

Myuu, I was under the impression I would hear from both schools at the same time, but I have yet to receive any information from the UP program. Does this mean they have yet to review my file, or they have reviewed it and did not post their decision because they were waiting for CCLCM?

Thank you

Yeah same thing....my verbal score is the only thing standing from me applying to case 🙁

I also got an e-mail saying the same thing, "strongly encouraging" me to submit my secondary. It seems quite standard - I think they just want my credit card info.

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the UP and your other apps. Looks like they're getting to work with file review. I was also complete on the 21st. Wonder if my heads on the chopping block.

For the research essay, can I talk about my current research? I could mention the different possible results and what implications those might have. I've done other research that has led to results, but we're on to really exciting stuff right now, so it's what I would most like to write about...I just don't have all of my results yet 🙄

That's too bad...I wish you best luck in all other schools!

Btw, does this mean that CP is going to send out interviews soon as well?

I've worked on two separate research projects. One was a small one, and that's done, but I chose to talk about the project I'm working on right now which has been going on much longer and is more interesting in my opinion. I discussed some preliminary results, but didn't get into too much detail. Mainly I just talked about the potential implications of the study as a whole. A current student could probably shed some more light on this though.

It does, but people who've applied to both programs generally have to wait a while longer.

Sounds cool to me.👍

MODMYUU! Wow look out SDN, the Daimyō (Daimyuu?) has a stick of power!
I'd be more worried about her reflex hammer(s), mmm yes?

Hmmm...this isn't Student Research Day. You will not be judged on the impact and future findings of your research. If you had to decide between talking more about "The Future" versus talking about "What I Did", I think you are way better off talking about your contributions, and what you personally have taken away from your research experience(s). Does that help?
I sure hope so!
Possibly the end of this week the first round of invitations will be made. Possibly.

ok, tweeted this earlier, and I'm in a rush:

First batch of CCLCM invite is in the electronic queue to be disseminated. Please do not freak out if you have not received an invite in this batch, OK? This is just the first installment. If you have any questions, I'll be offline until late this afternoon. 🙂

Just wondering what kind of research is expected in order to get into CCLCM? Are we talking about multiple publications or is having one on the warmer enough? I am guess that there isn't an "X" required amount but there should be a relative amount of research that most accepted persons have.

Bummer, sorry to hear that. Did you happen to hear from the UP as well?

Not formally, but I'm pretty sure that interview will show up tonight.

I have years of research but no publications out yet. I have three that will come in the near future hopefully. Anyway, just gotta move on. Good luck to the rest of you guys!

Quality research experience over quantity publications. The purpose of our program is to train students in rigorous research techniques. Good research sometimes goes unpublished, and vice-versa. As such, IMHO you are right - there is no "X" required amount of publications. I personally would rather see people interview here with meaningful, and modest, research experiences where the person learns a great deal RATHER than a person who superficially is involved in a massive yet "high-impact" journal publication who personally learns almost nothing of value. Good luck.
