I'm still holding out hope for an interview here even though I'm on hold. It's my hometown school (or hometown-adjacent school, anyways)! :D

On hold as well. Says they interview till mid-April but I wonder how many actual interview dates there are left, and if this is just for their waitlist... I'm OOS so I'm not holding my breath so much lol...

Hi!

OOS applicant here. I submitted my secondary 11/18 and haven't heard anything. Would you recommend writing a longer letter of interest explaining why I like Loyola's program, just sending a quick update to this school, or doing nothing and waiting?

I'd send in a LOI...its starting to get pretty late in the game. Good luck!

so yeaa i have pending further review now, and they will notify me if i get a interview.. they were reviewing my app for the past month. hmmmm, wonder if that month was my last stand for this school lol.

So I may be a bit biased about Loyola but here it goes anyway...

Stritch totally rules. I was fortunate enough to spend a large portion of the summer at the Stritch School of Medicine Summer Enrichment Program and everyone there is GREAT. Everyone from deans to assistant deans to the administration to current med students are the best people you'll meet in the med school system. Dean Jones (for all of you lucky acceptees he's the suave/fresh voice inviting you to Stritch on the phone) is the COOLEST. Everyone else in administration, financial aid, student help, etc is amazing and has the student's best interests 100% at heart. If you still have a chance here, hold onto it and kill the I.I. when you get it. I think I'll be matriculating here (esp after the "UIC tutition hike of 2012") and can't wait to meet everyone else. I do feel like the school has a majority "good and nice people" and the community feel is great. Good luck everyone the rest of the way!

I just got a phone call from the Dean of Admissions!! ACCEPTED!

SO excited. I might just say goodbye to Ohio for awhile and call Chicago home for the next four years!!

I got the call at work! I'm in! I absolutely loved Loyola and its one of my top choices so I'm SUPER HAPPY!

Did anyone who interviewed this year get waitlisted? Anyone get off the waitlist?

Hi, I'm VERY new to SDN, but I read most of this thread. I have an interview at Stritch scheduled for the second week of March. I was just wondering that with such a late interview, am I essentially interviewing for a spot on the wait list? Or is there still a decent chance to get accepted outright?

As I understand it, you're not interviewing for a waitlist spot, they reserve seats in the class for the entire interview season

Logged in a couple days ago and my status says my app has been reviewed, but it didn't mention anything about a decision. Is this a good sign that they haven't rejected me yet, or is it a hold?

someone withdraw their interview so i can get a spot!... please? i have no acceptances yet =(

You just got your wish. I withdrew from my March 13th interview. Best of luck, its a great school!

Thanks for your thoughtfulness. Don't forget to do the same with any extra acceptances you may be in your pocket...like those politicians and judges:D:D

Does anybody know how Loyola's sale to Trinity Health last summer affects the medical school now and in the coming years? I know they got a huge influx of cash, but they no longer have ownership of the medical center. Any insight from current students or anybody "in the know" would be appreciated.

So I just learned that I for sure won't be able to complete my Astronomy minor, as I indicated on my application. How should I go about notifying Loyola of this?

Does anyone know if anyone has ever been offered an interview after being put on hold??...

Anybody know if the admissions committee made any decisions today? I interviewed on Feb 22 and they said they would have a decision by March 5th.

Dean Jones mentioned during our interview that while the Adcom meeting was on the 5th, they likely wouldn't call anybody until the 6th. Judging by the lack of recent "I was just accepted!" posts, I don't think they've made any calls yet.

:xf:(Interviewed on the 27th, so I'm anxiously waiting as well)

The medical school and the Cancer Center are still owned by Loyola. They talked about the sale on the tour, and it seems to have little to no effect on the medical school. It's still a great place, and Trinity is Mission-driven, so their values fall greatly in line with Loyola's when it comes to medicine. Also, I do some research at Stritch, and I have not heard my PI or any other staff members even mention Trinity, let alone complain about it. Everything seems to be running pretty smoothly from what I can tell.

Thanks for the info. Good luck to you!

Has anyone gotten a phone call yet today? Personally, I 've been staring at the phone, willing it to ring. No luck...

Nothing here either...
I was hoping for a phone call yesterday as well but have not heard anything yet. When I called the admissions office to inquire if the committee met on Monday, I was told they did but my application status couldn't be given over the phone. I was also told letters would be going out today/tomorrow. On my interview day i was told i'd only get a call if i was accepted. If rejected or waitlisted, i'd have to wait for my letter. So I am still waiting too... Fingers crossed.

Has anyone received an acceptance this week? Be it via phone call or other communication? (Ive only seen one post above saying their friend got a call on Monday.)

I haven't heard of anything either. Maybe dean Koller is just really busy this week? That's what I'm hoping at least.

I'm hoping that as well--it does seem a bit strange that nobody has received a call yet. Fingers crossed!

Just got an email from AMCAS this morning asking me to fill out a background check. Coincidence? I hope not.

Nice! Those are only sent out if you have an acceptance somewhere. Maybe the Adcoms made their decisions but haven't called all of the acceptees yet?

Not everyone who gets accepted gets a phone call...keep checking the snail mail

First acceptance. Total relief. I'm still waiting to hear back from my state school (Utah) and I have a couple of waitlists +1 more interview. Loyola was my favorite of the four schools I interviewed at though. No official notification yet, so I suppose it could still be another school. Unlikely though.

Nice keep us posted if turns out to be loyola. I was told letters went out Tuesday/Wednesday so you can anticipate your letter arrival shortly.

Do you mind sharing your stats?

Sure. I'm a non-trad. I worked for a couple of years with severely disabled adults (non-ambulatory/non-verbal), and doing wilderness therapy for teens with behavior issues. I have about a year of chem research, and lots of clinical volunteering. My undergrad gpa was 3.4ish and my postgrad (all science) gpa is 3.9ish. I had a 35 on the MCAT.

So we have one acceptance via AMCAS background check notification, and one via email. Neither of these are ways in which Loyola mentioned...

Just got an II today. Does anyone know if people interviewed later are at a disadvantage? Loyola seems like a great school!

Yeah it was a bit strange...I didn't get a phone call or anything in the mail before I received the email. Oh well, no complaints here!
