loved the school when I visited today. I don't go to class in the rain, so it's awesome that all the buildings are connected. Tuition is more expensive than I thought, but I'm kind of interested in the rural scholars track so that might not be an issue anyway. Hopefully my terrible first interview did not kill my chances. They said we should hear in about a month if we're accepted, rejected, or not decided on yet.

do you mind elaborating on why your first interview was so terrible? were there unexpected, tough questions? or did you just not click with the interviewer?

glad to hear the rest went well though!

all of the above, haha.
I will PM you.

I had a similar interview last year for my first interview (blind interview). Other people I knew later interviewed with the same person, and we arrived at the "it was the interviewer" conclusion. Don't sweat it too much

Me, too - and it is nice to have the walkways. I still didn't go to class yesterday when it was monsooning in the morning.

Does anyone know whether acceptance letters come via email or snail mail?

Snail mail, with a nifty, holographic, Hippocratic Oath inside. Postmarked Sept. 20.

you were early decision right?
congrats
I think they said the first adcom meeting for regular decision applicants isnt for another 3 weeks or so. They either said 3 weeks from friday, or the 3rd friday of the month. Wasn't totally paying attention at that moment.

Thanks guys! Sorry that first post was so cryptic; between a cold, a couple medications, and the sheer OMG-ness of the moment, I was too delirious to write anything else. But yes, I was early decision. As for my stats, they're decidedly nontraditional, but you can read my story here.

Good luck y'all! Should I be super kewl and start this year's Facebook group, I wonder? Not generally a social maven, but I'm in a good mood today

Great story...all extremely similar to mine, which gives me hope for acceptance this year! Thanks for sharing!

CONGRATS!!! you are my idol -- i have kind of the same story and am hoping for this year too!

Congrats to you ED people for getting accepted!

Right now, I'm not scheduled to give an interview tour but I wasn't last year either and I ended up giving 4. So hopefully I'll get to give some tours and maybe even see some of you applicants.

Good luck. The process is long and exhausting.

I interviewed earlier this week. Like many other said, the whole day is very relaxed, and the interviews weren't meant to be too hard. All of the interviewers questions centered around getting to know more about me, not trying to quiz me on things. The tour was great and I was really impressed with the whole place.👍

It was really cool running into old friends who are now in their first year.

From what I could tell, the interviews went well. Fingers crossed for an early nod:xf:.

committee meets Oct. 7th, letters go out the following Tuesday. :xf:

Congrats for those who are accepted!!!!!! :]

good luck to those who are still waiting!

lol interesting, the rain hurts your feelings?

well, my umbrella is never where I need it, they have a way of accumulating where I work on campus, not that they do much good anyway. I live off campus, and there's not a lot of parking available on campus so I have to park way away, and walk up to class and get all wet. Then I'm sitting in class with damp clothes and the AC is way down, just end up being miserably cold the rest of the day. So unless there's something important going on that day like a test, if it's already raining when I'm ready to leave my apartment, I don't go.

lol and thank you very much by the way! goodluck to you too!

THANK YOU!! Does anyone know how the interview selection-deal goes? I submitted my secondary in person on august 5th... has anyone who applied after that gotten an interview invite? if they look at my application once and decide not to interview me right away, do they save it until later in the fall/early spring? or is that it for me? i'm just trying to decide if i should start panicking now... or wait a little! haha!

I know some people who submitted after that and got interviews, but they had very good stats. I've had mine in since the beginning of July and haven't heard anything yet. Don't freak out though because they're probably just holding off for a bit. They don't send interview invites based on how early your stuff was in. Plus, LSU just started regular applicant interviews, so there is still a lot of time left.

Thanks for the info... I think I'm still okay. I thought LSU did interview first come/first serve though, or is that really only for like perfect applicants?

They tend to interview stronger applicants first, it's not really first come/first serve. Though, it is to your benefit to be complete early.

Dr. Eubanks said that the vast majority of the class is selected after the holidays. There is a reason they interview through March. It's a long process, definitely don't freak yourself out. Plus, with LSU open to out of state students, some of those students are taking the early interview spots.

You don't wanna send your secondary in December, that's for sure, but aside from that it's basically in order of perfection. 😀

Vomit-inducing but understandable! Thanks everyone for the information. If y'all don't mind me asking, what are all of you doing during your year wait? I finished my masters in may and just finishe my student research job. Now I'm looking for a job for the year -- obviously, they'd prefer someone in the field as opposed to working at the mall per se, but medical jobs are hard to come by without certification or something. I'm applying for as many jobs as I am qualified for but starting to feel bummed out/panicky.

Gotta put food on the table, and it's a ****ty job market. Get a job where you can, just stay involved in academics/medicine/volunteering somehow.

PREACH!! that's what i thought too but i was just wondering -- thanks for the advice!

my AMCAS was verified yesterday and secondary was already done. So I call the admissions office this morning to make sure everything is complete, and she tells me: I only have 1 letter of recommendation. Apparently one of my professors must have forgot to send it to NO's address (because AMCAS received it, no problem, one email can fix that) but my 3rd letter was from an English professor which is unacceptable. Every school requires 2 from science prof and the 3rd letter is science/non-science EXCEPT LSU NO !!!!!!!!!
I don't know how to get that 3rd letter now, i already graduated and moved and it is too late into the cycle...Im getting ready to throw in the towel on LSU NO
🙁

Does your school have a pre-med committee? I don't know if it's too late in the season, but I think a letter from a pre-med committee can sub for a science prof letter. That's what's I did. I only had 2 science letters, and 2 non-academic ones.

I went to LSU which has a pre-med committee but too bad I missed the deadline to apply using it. However , I emailed 3 science and math professors explaining my situation, if i end up getting one its not gonna be a strong letter but should fill the requirement. If not hopefully another medical school takes me, im not picky about where i go.

It's okay that you graduated and moved, most professors don't mind doing everything over email. So just try to email one of your science professors and ask them to write you a letter. You can email them transcripts, resume, etc.

does anyone know if the letters go out today or tomorrow?

I'm pretty sure the Dr. Eubanks said letters go out the Tuesday after the committee meets. They met this past Friday so I *think* letters go out on Tuesday.

but they're not allowed to send acceptances until the 15th, mail is slow but if they sent tomorrow people in baton rouge, and certainly NO would hear by friday.

Why are they not allowed? I never knew this.

I second this. He definitely said that. But maybe he was mistaken.

he means in general they go out the tues after meetings. but i'm pretty sure by AMCAS rule, the earliest any school can notify a normal cycle applicant of their status is Oct. 15th. So, letters should go out then, and then from Oct. 15th on they go out the tues after each meeting.

Yep, it's an amcas rule. Bummer that the 15th falls on a Saturday...

But then again some places do acceptances via snail mail and email. Fingers crossed.

I interviewed last Tuesday (10/4) and Eubanks specifically said that they were meeting Friday (10/7) and that letters were going out the following Tuesday. So I am assuming then that acceptance letters will be mailed out tomorrow.

who knows...
