Not sure about rejections, but at my interview, Debra Stalk said we would hear either way via email on 12/16 if we are accepted or if our applications will continued to be reviewed until the next date 2/24 ......

It seems people are hearing different information regarding this. So frustrating.

anyone hear rejections yet? or waitlist? i haven't gotten an email....

Congrats! If anyone is willing to share any stats/info, please do! Especially IS or OOS.

Congratulations to those who made it.

If you indeed come here, seek out the upperclassmen and get the "real" study materials ASAP. (not that you should neglect what the school teaches, especially the Art of Medicine aspects... however, you have to cover all bases and independent learning is a tacit mandate here)

Elaboration:

Studying for BOARDS primarily, and then also studying for class SECONDARY (but not neglecting it) is the key to success

Why? Because the school will not teach you all you need to do very well on the Boards.

However, studying for boards will also prepare you for the school materials very well. Nonetheless, the school has some exclusive material that the boards do not test (not in terms of content, but in terms of scope... there are only so many things you can test on a multiple choice exam; e.g. clinical skills, etc..)

as for probation concerns:

The reason for probation was not mainly due to financial issues

It was due to "lack of diversity in its hiring processes." They LCME liason who came specifically cited the imbalance gender ratio amongst the faculty.

This is certainly not going to help TCMC's cause if the alleged information is found to be true.

As for finances, do not worry. Politicians will take care of that and fleece the taxpayers some more.

Good to know. I have to say, I really liked the students here. They seem very personable and self-motivated. If you have any others tips, keep 'em coming

Btw for those who were wondering: I am a "Slave" not because I hate this place. In fact, I grew up near Scranton and it was a great opportunity to come here to learn to become a doctor.

I am a Slave because of the draconian bureaucracy that the higher ups tries to force on us. It's not a dealbreaker, but it is highly annoying at times.

Accepted via email with intent to withdraw. Good luck to those waiting.

Accepted as well. Definitely withdrawing tho

accepted, but will likely withdraw. good luck to everyone else! :luck:

Just Accepted! OOS. >33/>3.5. Totally hasn't hit me yet.....gonna be one hell of a Friday night haha. Good luck everybody!

lol, of course you are! What are they gonna do? Tell you to take a time out? 😀

Accepted. Via Email. Connecticut Resident.

Undergrad: University of Connecticut (Go Huskies!)

Congrats to everyone that got accepted
Haven't seen any emails. So, does it mean that if we don't get any emails telling us accepted or wait-listed, we will be getting snail mail to inform us of being rejected? Or, has anyone get rejection emails?

No notification is worse than negative notification 🙁

I was under the impression that everybody would get an update so I'm not really sure...

In response to ezapp's post

I was accepted here. What would you say is the best regional campus to choose from your perspective and the perspectives of your classmates?

no easy answer. If you are around here geographically, you may as well stick with whichever one is closer to home.

In terms of student class size: Scranton (~30) > Wilkes Barre(~20) > Williamsport (~15)

The Scranton campus allows 4 year access to the medical school building and all of the resources within. Most of the major medical contributors (in terms of hospitals and clinics) that have the most vested interest in the school are in the Scranton campus

Wilkes Barre is central around a large nationally owned private for profit hospital system called Geisenger. That doesn't mean bad quality or all profits. It just means what it means.

Williamsport is either the best place you'll ever go, or it will feel like exile to you. (depending on where you are from)

Stick to Scranton if you can (especially early accepted because it is first come first serve) because you can get an apartment for four years and forget about moving so often.

P.S. if you want a leg up on your classmates, start studying for Anatomy and Physiology now. yeah I spent the summer after I graduated college feeling on top of the world. But in retrospect, using time to study would have gotten me further along in those courses. Not that in matters in the end, but just a thought.

Get Board Review Series Anatomy and Physiology. Then buy a good anatomy atlas. DO not bother with a textbook. It takes forever to read and you cannot absorb as much information as easily as you can a Board Review book which teaches you the high yield and the low yield without frills or wasting your precious time

I don't see any post-interview rejections being posted. Does this mean that everyone who had interviewed is either accepted or waitlisted?

Also, does anyone in the Oct-Nov interview group not get an email yet? Is there a cut-off (interview) date for the 1st batch of notification?

Just curious about the 'diversity' in the three areas, in terms of patient population (if you have any idea)...how would you rank them?

Congratulations to those that were accepted and good luck to those that were waitlisted. I feel like there should be another voice from the charter class here to balance things out a bit. In terms of campuses to pick they all have their advantages. If you live in Scranton you don't have to worry about moving or travel during the community weeks during the first two years. Wilkes Barre isn't far from Scranton and is a reasonable commute if you choose to continue living in Scranton. Williamsport is obviously a little more remote, but the advantage to that is that they have formed a real close knit community. Try not to worry too much about anatomy just yet. Most of it really comes together in the dissection lab if you put in the time and effort and learn from all of the bodies, not just the one assigned to you. It is extremely difficult to learn anatomy from a book alone, which is why we have the labs and the hands on experience that way. Grants atlas and dissector are great tools to utilize there too. You've all seen the new building and met with some of the students so you have a general idea what the school is all about and that the students that come here take an active role in shaping their educations and the traditions of the school.

my application has been complete since 10/25 and still has not been sent to the screeners-do you guys think I should call admissions? I sent an e-mail and got no response.

I suggest spending the last "real" summer relaxing or using it to explore extracurricular s is much more rewarding than studying. If you do decide to start prepping, definitely do not stress out and remember to have fun. There is no real point getting a heads up on preparing for your classes regardless of which medical school you go to because for most people it does not help. The curriculum is designed to be very manageable without you knowing much outside knowledge beyond MCAT material.

Congrats to those accepted, and best of luck to those still waiting.

Just withdrew my acceptance. Really liked TCMC but decided to go to another school that seemed like a better fit. Good luck to those still waiting!:luck:

Application just complete today! How does the process go from here...it gets sent to the screeners and then you here back? What is the general timetable?

I have been complete since nov 16 and still haven't been sent to screeners.

After submitting the 100$ deposit to hold a seat in the class did anybody receive communication from the school confirming receipt of the money?? I will call tomorrow just in case.

They sent an e-mail about four days later. Keep in mind I sent the deposit from only 23 miles away.

Just got an II and was complete in August. I think I will be probably withdraw though since I would rather be in a larger city where I have an acceptance already. Good luck to the rest!

Did you get this email too? "Congratulations on successfully completing your application to The Commonwealth Medical College! We now have your complete application portfolio to forward to our screening committee for review..." I got this on 10/22. and nothing since.

Are we going to get another email saying application send to screeners?

Thanks

This is what happened to me:

I was sent to the screeners about 20 days after my application was complete. This was posted on the application system. I did not receive an e-mail.

About two months later I received an interview invite. With this I received an e-mail and my status changed to interview pending on the application system.

About a month after my interview my status on the application system changed to decision pending. No e-mail

About two weeks after this it changed again to decision pending reviewed. No e-mail

After this I had to wait until the appointed date for acceptance. On this day I received an e-mail at the end of the working day (about 4:45) and my status changed on the application system as well.

I've been complete here for over 14 weeks and still haven't been sent to the screeners.... Should I call? Or is somewhat normal?

yup read that article when it first came out, pretty bad stuff.

can any current students comment on it?

Some of these claims the college denies. There also have been a lot of upper management changes. We have the interim dean, Dr. Nora, who has a good track record for financial responsibility at places like NEOUCOM, working hard to establish more consistent funding and put the money where it needs to go. And the LCME is having their followup site visit this month, so that probation status should be lifted very soon. I'm confident that the school will stick around for awhile, and you just can't argue with that step 1 pass rate.
