Have you ever heard of Iowa City? It was ranked as the #3 most liberal city in the nation recently. Additionally, it's basically sui generis in Iowa. Good to very good dining, good shopping (about to get a whole lot better with two new shopping districts coming to neighboring Coralville), excellent theater and outdoor activities. Iowa City resembles a small version of Madison more than any Iowa town.

This just makes me want to go here even more! Thanks hawkdoc 🙂

Iowa typically stays on the same application schedule as previous years, so I would think that the first set of interview invitations should go out in the next couple weeks. I think the first date available for interviews last year was around mid September.

I submitted my credit card info and paid the fee, but it's not listing as having completed yet. Did anyone else have this problem (is there a lag?) or should I call admissions and figure out what's up?

Ah, gotcha, thanks much! I figured it would take a bit for it to say "complete" but didn't realize in that time it wouldn't even have registered my fee payment.

My file status is incomplete, even though everything required and all my LORs are complete/received (and have been for a few days). Same for everyone?

still marked as incomplete (submitted 8-4, payment received a couple days later). just wondering, how many days did you guys wait between submitting/paying and receiving the complete email?

MSTP applicant here who has heard rumors of Iowa being about to lose its MSTP funding in the near future. I have always heard great things about this school and am very stoked about my application here, but these rumors have me a little worried. Are there any current MSTP students around who can comment on this?

Also applying MSTP to Iowa. Where did you hear this rumor?😱

I heard this from current MSTP students (who I think heard this at the national Keystone conference they just got back from) from another institution at which I am doing undergrad research. Obviously they could be biased coming from another program, but when I was just trying to get general input on applications they both specifically warned about Iowa. Again, not much supporting evidence and I hope that none of this holds any weight. I would like to hear someone from Iowa's response to this.

You don't need to have your file complete to receive an invitation to interview.

Also, I'm pretty sure the MSTP rumors are BS.

So-I emailed a current mstp student at Iowa. She sent me the letter all the students received saying that their evaluation score was very high and that they are funded for the next five years. 😀

For teh question that asks you to list your recent clinical experiences, how did you all answer that? did you just relist your experiences and descriptions from AMCAS?

This sounds like one of those questions where they know you already answered it, but they want it in some special format just to make the process simpler for them. Am I right in assuming that? Should I just copy/paste or would that look awful? How did everyone handle that?

There is an interview tab on your application. This is where you schedule the interview. You are also notified via email....and I checked pretty frequently, so I don't think the tab appeared before the interview invite that was emailed.

Okay, I'm a little confused. How does one know when one is complete? I've gotten "YES" in all the required categories but I haven't received the complete email.
