did anyone who interviewed before thanksgiving NOT hear back at all? i interviewed over 7 weeks ago, but have heard nothing...

Accepted yesterday via snail mail!!! 😀 OOS. Interviewed Dec 1.

My first acceptance- SUCH a relief!!!

Also FYI- I still haven't received an email and there's no status update to speak of- so make sure your parents are opening your mail if you used your childhood permanent address : )

Congrats 🙂 Thanks for the heads up. I called the admissions office and they said I was accepted and that they sent snail mail, but I haven't received anything from Maryland... I'm guessing it went to my permanent home address.

Are there any current UMSOM students on here?

If so, I would love to know about what sort of international programs are available to med students.

I'd also like to know if any students are active in health policy issues and/or are active in advocacy on the Hill- it would be a shame to be so close to DC but unable to utilize that closeness!

I was certified in early September and have still not heard anything. I'm not really holding out much hope at this point.

I was cert'd mid September and had my letter packet received in early October (I was on the phone with the admissions lady, when they confirmed it too). I don't want to be a pest, but I feel like calling to make sure its all there and to remind them that I applied a REALLY LONG TIME AGO...I'm IS too. UGH...this is torture.

I was complete on 11/16. I got an email yesterday that said that I was on hold. They will review my application again and determine if they want to invite me for an interview.

I don't know much about the prematriculation summer program, but I plan on calling the school tomorrow. So I will definitely let everyone know if I learn anything.

Pretty much the same exact circumstances happened to me also haha. Just received an interview invite today. Does anybody know how late Maryland's interview season runs? Or are we just interviewing for the waitlist at this point? (I'm in-state btw if that helps)

similar situation for me, got the interview invitation yesterday; complete 7/28 and on hold for months; in-state; emailed an application update a couple of weeks ago.

Hey Chezza--the secondary site will show you whether the application is complete but will not provide any other information. If you were to get invited for an interview, they will notify you by e-mail and an "interview" tab will appear on that site too...but that's it.

Does anyone have any insight as to when it's best to send an update letter / LOI after being waitlisted? I'm tempted to send one right now (was put on the waitlist at the end of December) but I wonder if it would be better to wait until April-ish when they might start looking at us waitlistees again.. otherwise I wonder if my letter might just get stuck in with my file and never get looked at. I don't anticipate having too much more to update them on as time goes by. I'm working full time so it's not like I'm going to have new grades to send in later or anything and I don't want to waste my chance to be on Maryland's mind again! 🙂

Any advice on the timing of this stuff?

Yeah i'm pretty sure the website says they interview until the end of march for regular MD. Not sure if MD/MS is any different. I've been on pre-interview hold since october, blah.

yeah you can, on my interview day they said you could (there was even an M4 who did this) but you have to jump through a lot of hoops (i.e. change ur drivers liscence to maryland, etc, etc) Dr/Dean Foxwell seemed like he helped students do this a lot though

Still a hefty price tag at UMD regardless
