I'd be thrilled if this theory pans out; however, judging from last year's thread only ONE person posted being accepted on the first Friday of March 2011. I think these theories are more or less speculation and/or our minds trying to make sense of all this uncertainly. Like I said, hopefully I'm wrong =).

You make a good point, but a couple years ago they sent out a couple that were posted on sdn so chances are they will hand out a few.. Whether or not they are SDNers or not who knows. Last year there was only one posted though.

From what I understand, second-look is really about checking out who your potential classmates are. You already know the school/curriculum by then. But about half of UMass students come off the wait-list, which happens after second-look. Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, does it?

True, though the first acceptance off of the waitlist last year was on April 27, just before the second look weekend (April 29-30), so it's possible...

I'm wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me - I interviewed really early (9/14) and haven't heard anything since. I just want to know what my choices will be so that I can start making my decision (and booking travel for second look - flights from the midwest are expensive!)

I interviewed a week after you in September. Still no word. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of logic in the order they accept people. I am just hoping to make the wait list at this point.

I think you just have to wait along with the rest of us! Unless you have multiple acceptances and are in your top choice already. Then in that case I guess you are waiting to hear from UMass to see if you can get a more affordable education.
 
The acceptance email says "....contingent upon the satisfactory completion of our prerequisite courses and of any coursework you undertake this academic year". Does anyone know what grade is actually considered "satisfactory"?

I sent a brief one via email and they replied a few hours later to say it would be added to my file. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer about whether or not it makes a difference but I figured it couldn't hurt!
 
Do you guys think they will be accepting people tomorrow, since it didn't look like there were any last friday?
 
It would be nice to get some sort of decision from UMass...particularly for those of us who interviewed early on.
 
Hey guys, thought I would share. I haven't sifted through last year's March postings, however, I have looked at last year's April and May postings. I didn't see a single person accepted outright in April or May. So, my guess is that if we don't hear by March the best case scenario is a wait-list. I did see some people wait-listed mid-April and accepted late-April/Early-May but I also saw (and know of ) people who got wait-listed and then accepted in June/July. It also looked like the first round of rejections came end of April.

Same here. Interviewed 12/7. No word at all.

Thanks for putting that together! The wait is frustrating, but hopefully it won't last too much longer. Plus today is the third Friday of the month... isn't that usually suppose to be a popular day for receiving acceptances?
 
Nothing yet. Kind of ready to give up on UMass...3.9+/34R interviewed 11/8...
 
I'd be shocked of you two don't hold an acceptance with those stats. In a previous thread there was a student that was accepted that went through the trouble of counting the number of students on a umass email for accepted students around this time of year. That person didn't count a full class at that time. It is also likely that anyone accepted in march during the first week (their apparent trend) either didn't feel like posting or isn't a SDNer. Chances are wait lists and the likes are what people should expect/hope for from this point on.
 
If it didn't equal a full class, wouldn't that imply that there are pending acceptances to be given? Or are you saying that those have probably already been given earlier in the month.
 
I go to a school that historically send a lot of people to UMass. Only one out of the 6 of us from my year who interviewed has heard back. I'd be shocked if we were all Waitlisted

I'm 3.9/35 and interviewed in December...no word...ugh!!! I feel confident about my interviews--->acceptance but the waiting is killing me. I keep thinking...what if I screwed up and don't realize it and I don't get in??

I'll definitely be going to UMass if I get in there. I'd love to have an answer soon. I just keep telling myself I won't hear anything until 5/15...that way if I hear before then it will be a pleasant surprise... 🙂

My fear is that they've already accepted the entire class and everyone is going. BAH. Is that possible?

I don't think so. The school very recently told me that they are still interviewing people and we should expect to hear back anytime between now and May 15th.
 
Good point alerk, I definitely wrote that wrong and meant to say there may still be slots available, it's just much more likely that we won't have a straight acceptance.

Anyhow I did double check on the thread I mentioned and if anyone wants to look it's the 09/10 thread where supposedly a few people were accepted very late march.

I don't always get anxiety, but when I do it's because of umass. Stay hopeful my friends.
 
Here comes another Friday... let's see if this one brings anything. I'm a little doubtful, as it sounds like at this point we may all be waiting for those first few weeks in April - which are fast approaching - finally!
 
Just thought I would share that I spoke with someone on the admissions staff today, and they said that there are still seats to be filled in the class. They won't overaccept past their number of seats (I think it's 112?), but will go right to waitlist after they fill all the seats. She also said that they will let us know something by May 15th, whether that be accept, waitlist, or rejection.
 
uhh UMasss is so frustrating. Interviewed 1/31, but haven't heard anything and I have a 3.84/36 oops. please let me in. at least I got my first acceptance to BU today! huge relief. now it's just a matter of time to see whether I'm going to be poor for the next 7 years.
