I believe they do but I have no concrete knowledge. Maybe someone else can chime in too

Look, I hate to be harsh, but seriously relax! If you think your interview doesn't mean much, I'm sure that's quite alright with everyone else with an interview, seeing as you chose to believe it is almost worthless. Maybe you should change your attitude and see this as an opportunity and not some other number in line. You have your foot in the door, it's up to you whether you blow it or not. From your attitude though, sounds like you will.

your words not mine. UPitt is my top choice, I just did not know the % of interviewed to accepted.

Seriously, does Pitt screen? I've received secondary invites from almost every school I put down on my primary except Pitt. I've practically already written the essays, I just need to get a secondary to submit! I was verified 7/18.
 
I received an interview invite this afternoon! I'm ecstatic! I chose the 9/16 interview date and am planning on staying in the area until Saturday afternoon. Completed 7/14 so I had to wait almost 2 weeks. To those who have not yet received an invite, hang in there! :luck:
 
FINALLY got the secondary. Turned that sucker in a few hours ago.


For those who still haven't gotten the secondary ... make sure the school's actually on your primary list! It happened to a buddy of mine last year, luckily he caught the mistake early!
 
er, based off ridic fast turnover rates' im thinking that it has to do with having certain stats. their accept avg is 3.8+/36 afterall, and nobodies posting their stats who got them lol so can't say fo shoo
 
I received my UPittsburgh secondary about a month ago and I put it at the bottom of my list because I didn't think I had much of a shot with my stats, but I still wanted to give it a try. I put schools that I thought I had a better chance for first. I've worked on a lot of secondaries over the past few weeks and I finally came across UPittsburgh again. My thinking is that it will look pretty bad that I delayed completing their secondary app for this long. Thoughts on if I should still apply?

Pitt seems pretty serious about their interview scheduling policy...

"Once you have scheduled your interview, it cannot be changed except for an emergency or inclement weather"

I am applying for a job as a disaster preparedness AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and if there is a disaster in Michigan the week of my interview, I HAVE to respond. Would this be considered an "emergency" in terms of interview scheduling?

Pitt is one of my top choices and I would really hate to take a job that put me at a disadvantage there. I would really also like to have a job though...

i emailed a couple of students on the med student hosting list about letting me stay at their place for my end of aug interview. so far, only 1 person replied saying that someone already asked earlier.

I would say wait until mid August and contact the Office of Admissions again. They may have an updated list with MS1 students who are willing to host interviewees. Seeing as orientation isn't until next week, that's why I'd advise waiting...or keep trying people on that list.
 
Does anyone know how many are interviewed vs. accepted?
 
First year students are on summer break at the moment and less likely to check e-mails, let alone be in town to host people. You may need to wait a few weeks for people to return. In the meantime, e-mail a bunch of people (individually) to up your odds of finding someone in town.

Vandsocc: it's a harsh stance to avoid people abusing courtesy. If you actually had something come up of a reasonable nature, I'm sure you could reschedule if you had to. Just try to make accommodations at work.
 
Is anyone else having trouble submitting the secondary fee? It keeps saying it can't process it because it's a duplicate, but I know for sure I haven't paid. 😕

I guess I can wait and call tomorrow if it still doesn't work then?

I was waiting for inspiration for the secondary essays, so I have been sitting on them for a while. Just got everything in last week. Good luck to everyone. :luck:

Wow, I just saw this! It's great that they're being so transparent about the whole process. But did anyone notice this: "Interviewers shall not have access to academic credentials and objective test scores should not be imparted to the interviewer" -- are they referring to the applicant here or the admissions committee? I have never heard of applicants having to actively obscure their GPA/MCAT scores from interviewers...

So I finished this secondary a month ago, but I sat on it because I was waiting for the waiver from AMCAS. I just found out Pitt waived it a month ago anyway. Oh no! 🙁 So much for early submission...

I love the enthusiasm. I wouldn't mind waiting until later 👍. I'm not worried as much about my MCAT, even though it seems to be a bit low for Pitt as well. Good luck to you Frazier.

I put that I plan on being Surgeon general. I think thats why I have an interview atm 😉

just got an interview invite, here's my stats:

GPA = 3.35
MCAT = 38

wish me luck!
 
For the prerequisites section are those hours in quarter units or semester units?

I entered everything in semester hours as they appear on my primary even though I went to a school on a quarter system. They seemed OK with that.

Perhaps I'll end up hosting a SDN'er.
