And did you guys who got in, write letter of intent? because i wrote only interest...

Whats up guys, I got in off the wait list today via email. I wrote two emails. The first was a formal thank you/update letter soon after my interview, then the second was an interest/update letter right before I was wait listed. Both of them were fairly lengthy, but they were not letter of intents, just strong interest.

they might be going through the applications in the order of when you applied. i interviewed on the first available date for interviews. i also did send an update/interest letter. i don't know if it helped but everything i said was the truth 🙂

Accepted! I didn't send anything in really after my interview except a sort of hybrid thank you note/letter of interest. I don't really think that played a role because it wasn't anything special, so I wouldn't fret if you are someone who didn't send anything in. I agree with the person above who said they are likely accepting off the waitlist in the order of how people were interviewed(I was early september).

Does Pitt have a 2nd look weekend? If so, have they set the date, etc.?

I sent in a letter of intent back in the day....that must have at least given my app another once over, oh well not giving up but it's probably a good thing I've been preparing to re-apply.

I also was accepted off of the waitlist yesterday. I interviewed 11/9 and sent a letter of interest (not intent) around the end of December. They send an email telling you to check your status and it's changed there, and it says a packet should go to your address within a couple weeks. Best of luck to everyone still on the waitlist, I'm rooting for you all!

Yes, April 27-28th. I think there's an optional night meet & greet on Thursday April 26th, but I'm not sure. I'll be visiting Pitt in the beginning of March for their MSTP program, so I'll let you know if I find out anything else 🙂

PS. Congratulations to the recent acceptances! And good luck to those still waiting!

Has anyone heard anything regarding PSTP interviews?
Cheers!

I sent a thank you card after my interview, and stated there how much I loved the school. I believe I sent it to the admissions office. Is that where they were supposed to be sent? I didn't call to confirm that they received it because I thought that would be weird.
I will send in a letter of interest next week through the mail...is this late? I have been so swamped with exams since the semester started :\

Seems like they have already sent out interview invitations -- I'm asked to host some applicants.

Oh well.

Maybe there will be more.
Reading last years thread it seems PSTP II came in waves.

Has anyone gotten his or her packet yet? And if so, is there any information on how to pay the deposit that I'm assuming exists? The application site itself doesn't seem to have any information on it.

Can any current Pittsburgh students speak to the overall happiness of the student body at PittMed? I understand that there will be plenty of academic stress, but what can you say as far as ithe relationship between the faculty and students?

I mistakenly read through the MedSchool Hell blog and it psyched me out into thinking that medical students are miserable 🙁

If you are more comfortable giving a negative (or positive!) insight privately, please PM me. I want the straight stuff.

Thanks everyone!

Accepted!!!!!! :biglove:

Kinda bummed I can't do all second look weekend activities, as it's my graduation weekend, but maybe I'll pop up the hill to join a few!

I just got an e-mail saying my status had changed...

I check the status...

I'M ACCEPTED! THANK THE LORD! OH MY GOD I AM ECSTATIC! CAN'T BREATHE...

Just curious, you guys who just got accepted recently off the waitlist (CONGRATULATIONS BY THE WAY!!), did you send anything in or did they just email you out of the blue?

I just got accepted to UPItt med!!!!! Really excited to go for a second look!!! Anyone got accepted!?!

Congrats! Just curious, y'all getting acceptances, were you interviewed about middle of the interview season?

Congrats guys! I sent what I feel is a significant update today, so hopefully that will help.

I didn't send in anything post-interview. After seeing all the acceptances with LOI's, I started composing an LOI, but just got the status change email out of the blue!

I interviewed November 7. So middle-ish/near the end.

Interviewed 11/29/11

I sent one letter of interest about a week after I was waitlisted, which was in early January. I didn't make any updates. I simply mentioned my unwavering commitment towards attending Pitt, even after having interviewed at several schools since my interview there.

Good luck to all else waiting!

Today I was accepted off the waitlist! I interviewed early in November and sent a letter of interest about 2 weeks ago. Good luck to everyone else waiting! 🙂:luck:

AHH! So excited for everyone who got in!!!! 😀 can't wait to see you all during second look! yeah it does kinda suck it's on my graduation weekend

Hi, I was wondering how you sent in your update letters or letter of interest. I sent one to the admissions email address right after getting on the waitlist and I never got a reply from anyone about it being added to my file. Is this usual for Pitt?

And congratulations to all that recently got in!!! 🙂

I did send it to the email address and never got a response so I called a couple of weeks later. They checked and told me it was indeed there. They are very nice on the phone in my experience, so if you want to double check on that, go for it. I get the feeling this school is pretty organized in terms of applicants' files.

I, like the previous poster, sent my letter of interest via e-mail. I also did not receive a reply but I had heard that this is the norm for this school. I highly suggest sending an e-mail! Make sure it is thorough, specific, and thoughtful. Don't just say, "PITT AWESOME I WANT GO THERE!"

Good luck bro. Good things happen to those who wait...list at Pitt.

Hey guys,
I need your opinion, I'm kinda freaking out. So I sent in my letter of interest (very strong interst) that I wrote last night and i realized I made 1 grammatical error and accidentally had the wrong subject title as "Letter of Intent" When my letter said "I want to express my strong interest in attending Pitt" I didnt say I would withdraw my application or what not.
Do you think this a big error.
I realli like pitt but I'm also afraid of the binding nature. Money is a factor for me and my family.

Thanks!

(i know i'm a bit neurotic)

thats actually a really interesting mistake

do you have any schools that you would rather attend than pitt? (If so, why would you bother trying to get off the waitlist, so I doubt this is the case).

if you have schools you would rather attend, but haven't gotten accepted into them, you can worry about this in the event that you do get accepted to both schools

I don't think your letter of intent is completely binding, especially if you didn't mention that you would withdraw from other schools if accepted. If the body of your letter was expressing interest and not intent, they will probably overlook the subject line.

No worries 👍

pretty big mistake 😵

pretty big mistake 😵

I am not sure about that. LizzyM has said before that many schools do not differentiate between letters of interest and intent. If one doesn't state their intent to attend if accepted in the body of the letter, it is probably not a big deal.

hey,

I recently received my acceptance letter from Pitt, where I was told I had to go onto their website and submit their forms.

I went online and filled them out and clicked submit (there were 4 under applicant data sheets). However, my information didn't save, despite the fact that I was told they had been "sent." Am I doing this right?

High level of neuroticism but I don't want to lose my opportunity to attend Pitt.

Same thing happened to me. I'll be calling their office tomorrow morning to make sure it registered in the system.

same thing happened with me and i called the office and they had said they received it

It appears to me that the make waitlist decisions in waves since it looks like they gave a few offers and then stopped. What do you guys think?

Seems that way. Maybe they're waiting to see if people miss the 2 week deadline to submit those acceptance forms. Deposit isn't due until after May 15, so it seems those forms are the only way you can "accept" the acceptance.

I should send another letter to pitt stating in addition to my love of their school, my unconditional love of panera bread and the pittsburgh steelers....

😀

 But...Panera has nothing to do with Pittsburgh (except that we have one on campus). Say you love cole slaw and french fries in your sandwich! 🙂
