MDApplicants will tell you for everyone... got the complete email 8/16, transmitted TMDSAS 6/4.

BMEN, you are absolutely cleaning up! Bet you're a 45/4.0 😀

"We do not send out confirmations that we received your application. As long as TMDSAS told you it's transmitted you are fine. Good luck!"

What are your thoughts on what it means if you received an email that says they received your application and to continue to check your email?


DoItToIt will you post the date you were transmitted so I can get a guesstament on when I might receive an invite? Thanks
 
Houston sent out email confirmations this year, AFAIK. I transmitted 7/8, got the complete email on 8/15, and received an invite on 8/18.

My app was transmitted June 6th . Good luck!

See you there BMEN! Houston traffic was a BEAST today leaving Galveston. And I thought Dallas got bad... Lol

friday rush hour= 👎

when traffic is bad i use 146 to get outta galveston... then 225 to 610 or beltway 8 to i10
 
Has anyone determined if whether or not receiving the Conformation of application email is indicative of anything? I'm curious to know as the UTH Admissions Twitter states that they do not send confirmation of application emails.

45 is just bad near dickenson. To get to UTH, taking 59 isnt so bad at like 3. it is bad at 5

I think it's indicative of two things
1) they received your application
2) they changed their policy on sending application receipt notices

I'll remember that next time lol. I had no quarters, and the way my phone told me while driving was to take 45 to 10, then 610 north, then 290. All was dandy until I hit 290, where it was bumper-to-bumper for about an hour :annoyed:

I wanted to ask if it was possible to posts some stats info, MCAT score, GPA etc... I am currently studying for the MCAT and wanted to gather some info on specific stats for certain schools. I am aware that the average MCAT score is 32, ( if I'm not mistaken).

Texas schools with the exception of baylor and SW have an average of around 27-31ish. i say ish since its upper 30 point something for like UTH last year

Get the MSAR. You can get it online or in paper and it has the stats for every american and canadian M.D school.
 
I transmitted 7/18 and got the confirmation e-mail from Houston 8/16; am I hosed?

(Props to whoever wrote that expression on here - I thought it was hilarious lol)

it sounds like it would be the 2nd one. i was told that the adcom will reconsider my application. 😱
 
not sure if cutthroat is the right word. they are serious that there are no guarantees of getting another interview date . hopefully i can get another one later on
 
Did they ask for a reason to reschedule? A kid I interviewed with today said that he got his rescheduled because he couldn't miss a wedding. They granted it too.

Yeah, they just have alot people who are vying for interview spots. If you cant make yours somebody gladly will fill your vacancy.

Yeah. I told them I had other medical interview already set up for the date given and I had book the flight months in advance. They gave me another date that was actually this friday... But I already had an interview set up for that date as well (just plain bad luck). I then quickly received the "your application will be reconsidered by the adcom" email.


*sighs* I just want to get into medical school. UT-Houston was one of my top choices. But I cannot just throw away money that I have already put to flights. I think the worst feeling next to getting your acceptance revoked is having an interview invite taken away. It sucks not to even get a chance to prove yourself because of things that were really out of your control. 🙁


Here's to hoping me and others in the same predicament get another chance. :xf: And extra good luck to those who will get the chance to interview at this great school :luck::luck:

I was transmitted and received confirmation on the same dates. I think Houston is a month behind.

Last year when I interviewed, I got the same response from a couple of other schools, that if i had to reschedule, my application would be reconsidered and i may or may not get another chance to interview.

A lot of schools do this, and they can when they get 4000+ apps and can only interview like 700. Thats a big number of interviewees though, and the logistics of getting it all set up must be a nightmare... especially when a lot of people need to reschedule for one reason or another. Its probably easier to pick the next qualified person and see if they're able to interview on the date they have already set up.
 
How long does UTH's interview season last? I'm worried I won't get an interview at this point since I submitted my TMDSAS somewhat late. 🙁

has anyone who transmitted around 8/3 gotten an interview? i have interviews at a&m and utsw--both had secondaries that i completed only a couple of weeks ago--so i'm curious to see what timing is like at houston.

i'm in the same boat as you and curious as well!
 
Interviewed here today. Definitely one of my top choices now. There's the TMC with the billion different institutions, fantastic research and the students there are just so personable and easy to talk to. The professors I talked to really loved the school and the interviews were relaxed, laid back. I love love love it. 😍

If I could "like" this, I would. Saw you for a split second as you helped some lost interviewees on the tour. I was frantically attempting to solve some genetics problems. All that was accomplished was that I was reminded of how bad I am at math without a calculator 🙂
