CONGRATS! I am interviewing on 9/29 and I'm also a non trad (25 years old, totally non-science undergrad major, did a post bacc program). can you tell me what the interview was like?? Thanks!

Congrats Dr. Mertaban. I'm a 40-year-old mother of two and hoping for the same good news. I love Vermont!

Congrats to you too! You are going to have a blast at UVM! Last year the interview went really really well. They gave you the normal shpeal in the morning:

1. History of UVM COM
2. Vermont Integrated Curriculum (AMAZING!!)
3. Financial Aid Presentation (Make sure to submit all FAFSAs by March 1st, even if you don't have anything confirmed by then)
4. The Dean of Admissions, the Admission Coordinator and another Faculty member come in to talk to you and get to know you.
5. Lunch with the students (they were all super nice, super chill, and super cool)
6. Interviews: 1/2 of us interviewed while the other 1/2 toured Fletcher Allen Medical Center, and then we switched off.

Interview was done closer to 3pm (not 3:30pm as they tell you). Afterwards, some of the students who were there for the night went out to dinner together and then hung out afterwards at a bar. It was super fun!

Enjoy and PM me if you have any other questions. I'd be more than happy to help anyone.

It's been 9 weeks since I have been waiting to be pooled. Is the general consensus to leave it alone or should I call in at this point? My stats should make me a competitive applicant here, so I was expecting to at least be pooled.

This is the same for me, as well as the fact that I'm in-state. I decided this week that I was going to wait until Monday and if I haven't heard anything I am going to call and state that I am still interested in hearing from them and wondering if there were any status updates on my application as it has been past the 6-8 weeks. I don't think it would hurt.

Patience guys...it's not over until you're rejected. I'm sure they have thousands of applications that they are working to get through; if anything, take it as a sign that they do thoroughly read your AMCAS and LORs. I feel like there's a good chance that if you called them, you'd get the same response.

I think you guys might have a better chance of getting a status update if you eamil them stating your interest, rather than calling them. If you email them, they print your letter and add it to your file which is reviewed by the Admissions Committee. A phone call is probably documented, but your own words are much better than someone else's 🙂

Good luck! If anyone is interviewing on 10/13, let's hang out on the 12th! PM me 🙂

Interviewed here 2 weeks ago. Great school!

Those of you who have interviewed here already, do they accept thank you notes? If yes, can we just email them at admissions office address?

Thank you!

Hey, I interviewed here about a week ago. They do accept thank you notes! You can email them or send your card to the admissions office, and they said they'll give it to your interviewer 🙂

Thank you so much for your reply! Will do so asap. 🙂

I'm glad people are still getting pooled. This is the only school I haven't received a confirmation of completeness from yet.

how long were people pooled here before another update?

Anyone know if they are into November with invites yet?

how long were people pooled here before another update?

Here are some approximate dates for my application. I hope this helps!!!

6/7/2010 - Submitted my primary application
6/17/2010 - Took MCAT
7/17/2010 - Got MCAT score
7/26/2010 - Received secondary application
9/6/2010 - Application finally complete - it was held up by my school because they don't send out Committee Letters until 8/31/2011
9/27/2010 - Pooled
12/20/2010 - Interview Offer
2/22/2011 - Interview
3/26/2011 - Letter of Interest
5/9/2011 - Letter of Interest
5/17/2011 - Letter of Intent
5/31/2011 - Letter of Interest
7/29/2011 - Offer of Acceptance

So, in answer to your question I was pooled for almost 3 months before hearing from them. My application was obviously a bit different because I didn't get in until 7/29/2011, but I think it is normal to be pooled for a few months.

Anyone know if they are into November with invites yet?

I have only received student hosting requests through mid-October, so I don't believe they have invites for November yet. Just a guess though...

Thanks for the info! I'm in limbo with many schools and students from schools I interviewed at told me it is still very early in the application cycle.

so you are not premed anymore right? (you should change it)

Heme, you are OOS correct? did you have any ties to Vermont? what did you say in your letter of interest and intent then?

I was an OOS applicant from New York, but I did my undergrad at Middlebury (in VT). I wrote my letters about specific things that I loved about their program and specific things I loved about living in Vermont. They really want to accept people who love UVM! I was also working as a research coordinator and volunteering, so I wrote about being published and some awards I got.

Hi everyone! I leave tonight for my Vermont interview tomorrow. SO SO excited, I love their curriculum. Any advice from people who've already interviewed or current students?

Thanks!

apologies if you've already provided this, but do you mind sharing your stats? IS/OOS?

congrats on the interview!
my interview at the school was very casual and I believe that everyone I asked had the same experience. Use this time to learn more about the school and relax. Cliche but "be yourself" lol

ps you should sit in on a class, regretted not having the chance to sit in on a class, which I believe is a very interesting experience that is somewhat unique.

Does anyone know if they have rejected anyone yet? I was submitted first week of August and I'm getting nervous. I've noticed a few people after my date have already been pooled. Oh and congrats tory on the pooling and I hope your interview went well hoosier!

I was small pooled a while back. SS on 7/28. Is it looking bad for me or what?

Omgosh! Pooled! Submitted 8/17.

Now back to waiting.

Pooled as well! Just exciting to see something change, which I think echos a lot of people's sentiments.

30Q, non-trad, something like a 3.6 gpa.

Wow that is awesome that you sent so many loi's.Do you mind if I ask about your letters of interest? Did you say that you were very interested in the school multiple times or were they also update letters?
