Nope. During the financial aid portion of the interview they mentioned that it's highly unlikely anyone will be able to gain VT IS tuition rate - getting married doesn't work, buying land doesn't work, etc etc.

Personally, I wouldn't consider this a barrier to matriculation, but it is something to know.

Yeah, was mainly curious. Thank you so much for paying attention, something I clearly didn't do 🙂

No problem, I think the shock of hearing the average OOS graduate debt put me in a temporarily heightened state of awareness. j/k 😛

Really? Because that is contrary to the AAMC traffic rules (https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/recommendations/62826/policies_admissionofficers.html), which state that the acceptance deposit should be $100 or less and refundable.

That was basically my thought - $1k non-refundable seems very heavy-handed.

Regardless, congrats on the acceptance! You should be very happy with the knowledge that at the very least you have a bearing set for the next four years.

WOW I did not know that! Thanks for the information. I am going to take that up with the school to see what they say.

Does anybody know when the admissions committee next meets? I interviewed today and really, really loved the school. Now I am being impatient.

Congrats thehyacinthgirl and sector9! When were you marked complete?

Thanks! To be honest, I'm not sure exactly when I was marked complete. I completed the secondary in the beginning of September though. I was in the pool for a while so this was a great suprise.

I submitted around mid September and I still have the "6 to 8 weeks" message. How receptive are they to people calling for updates?

I was marked complete on 7/14 and I was pooled on 8/3
Yay! Congrats :luck:
Thanks!

They are very receptive. I sent an update and received my invite within a week! That was my first update BTW. YMMV

Anyone willing to hazard a guess as to whether or not we'll see WL movement before the Christmas/New Years break?

Personally, I'm expecting radio silence until after the next adcom meeting on the 10th...but it would be amazing to ring in 2012 with good news in hand. :xf:

I have had this message since late August? Does anyone know why its taking so long to get a status change? Should I interpret the lack of activity as a bad thing?

Does anyone (maybe an M1/M2) know when second look weekend is? Or does anyone know when we will get any more information? It is strange to just have the "we received your deposit and you'll have more info in spring". It would be nice to have some info to go through now!

at some point they will send a folder via Priority Mail with a lot of info in it. the second look weekend has traditionally been the first weekend of May.

I am wondering the same. Officially 2 months since I submitted and still "under preliminary review". Sent a LOI last week to see if this would cause some movement positive or negative but nothing so far.

I called last week and they said they had a lot of apps at one time and I am being reviewed currently (submitted September). She said I should get an update in status within a week to week and a half. If you want to call, they are receptive to phone calls, and very nice.

Anyone having trouble with the status page? When this happens I always imagine the adcoms are on my status page trying to pen the perfect acceptance letter. No ii yet so this is unlikely.

Cool, thanks so much for the info. I guess if they are just getting to mid-September and I submitted mid-Oct then I suppose I can just chill for a bit. I got confirmation that my LOI was put in my file so at least I have indicated my interest to them, for whatever that is worth! I guess we just have to stay positive and hope for the best!:xf:

Hmmmm. I guess not.

hi guys
does this mean I am complete?

"We have received all application materials that you have submitted. Your file is under preliminary review. The review of your file may take several (6-8) weeks."

the reason i ask is, this doesnt make logical sense.
"we have received all application materials THAT YOU HAVE SUBMITTED." means its possible that they require something, but I have not submitted it. you know what i mean?
it should say "we have received all application materials that are required"
anyway, if i am getting that message, am i complete?

Yes. Try to not overthink things.

Hope everyone had a great holiday season and is getting ready for a fun, safe New Years celebration. Just a couple of weeks left to wait before the next ad-com meeting and round of acceptances. Best of luck to all.

Did anyone else get this? I logged into my secondary and saw that. So confused! I didnt even apply in 2009-2010

The 2009-2010 admission season for the University of Vermont College of Medicine has come to a close. We have reviewed your application and regret to inform you that we cannot act favorably on your request for admission. We receive a large number of applications but have a very limited number of places in the first year class. It is necessary for us to make some decisions based on the careful review of the complete application file.

You may wish to consult with your pre-medical advisor or career counselor for assistance in evaluation of your file and the appropriate next steps.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Vermont and wish you success in the future.

I also got that message when I logged in today. I never even received an application complete email.

I think they did that by mistake. I never got a complete email either if that matters

I got the same message last night. I figured it was triggered by having written them a brief 'Hi, still interested' email. Le sigh.

I sent a LOI also but how do you explain "2009-2010" cycle coming to a close? Especially when the school is closed for now. I am so confused

Vermont doesn't send complete e-mails. They only e-mail for interviews and acceptances. Oh, and obviously, secondary invitations.
That's good to know. But my status page went straight from the "6 to 8 weeks" message to the 2009-2010 rejection notice. I thought I'd at least get an under review message or something in between.

It's very easy to imagine that whoever maintains the online portal status system simply forgot to update the standard rejection letter verbiage in the software.

OTOH, it's equally easy to imagine that submitting an update hit some kind of automatic update trigger that set our status to rejected, perhaps unintentionally. Whether we are actually rejected at the moment remains to be seen. I sure hope not! I had a similar glitch accidentally show me as rejected at another school last year, when in fact I was not rejected at that time.

At the risk of seeming indignant/entitled, I did send them another email this morning gently enquiring about the 2009-2010 detail. I reckon that if I really am rejected, then I've got nothing to lose.

Just logged in and got the same "2009-2010" rejection notice. 2nd rejection today...so far. Awesomeness.🙁

Interesting. I still have the file complete/pooled for potential interview message.

Hey, would love to know what they say. Although I am pretty much accepting it as rejection #6 for me. My hopes for an MD interview are dwindling...

I received the same message. I really believe this is a glitch, seems strange so many people would get this message in the middle of the holiday season. At least I'll remain positive for now.
