What does this mean?? A hold? May status??

The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. Please continue to check this site to learn when further action has been taken.

no one REALLY knows, except that you have to wait and possibly get an interview. Basically it means you haven't been rejected yet. I wouldn't read too much into it. I got the same status and hasn't changed in a while. Let's keep our fingers crossed for and II soon!

yeah i've had that above status since July 14.....no one knows what anything means...

I had that status and then got an interview invite so don't lose hope!

Talked to my student host today...He seems like a really cool guy! I;m really excited to see how VCU stands.

Has anyone posted on here what the interview day is like?

Interview on wed!!! I had a MAY status for a while also..so dont worry people. 🙂

Please add in-state or out-of-state status if you did not do so

Great idea, guys! I added a line. Best of luck to everyone. I really would NOT give up hope if you had options 2 or 3. I still don't know what the difference is, but it's way too early to simply give up hope. 🙂

Anyone with status 4 heard anything yet? It's been like 2 months for me...

Interesting to see II for OOS w/ May status, and II for IS w/ Further status.
Probably coincidence, but still an interesting observation. Data is incomplete, and who knows if people are being honest, but trends are interesting to neurotic pre-meds like us...

...so interesting...

So to those who have had interviewed here:

Just got this status change:

"The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 16, December 15, February 1, and March 16.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in late-March, or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

We thank you for your interest in our school."

Does that mean I'm "on hold" as in they'll look at me later for acceptance? Or does everyone get this who isn't immediately rejected post-interview? Help.

I'm guessing everyone will get that status until October 16 at least

Okay after searching through old threads, it looks like everyone after interview gets that message. The waiting starts now...whoop

What date did you interview tory?

Just got straight up rejected OOS 3.76 cGPA 3.85 sGPA 32Q...le sigh

I interviewed first week of September and did not receive that message

According to past years, if you haven't gotten the "on hold" status or rejected it may mean your interviewer hasn't presented you to the committee yet. They might have left town for something and will present you at a later committee.

So, I got my new MCAT score on 30th August. I had submitted my secondary in early july. No communication from them since (Not even small-pooled, completion email, etc.) Should I be worried?

took me a while to be marked complete but I haven't received any priority score since I was marked complete 5 weeks ago.

You should receive a status update. VCU is pretty good about assigning the priority score / status before the real waiting begins... I was marked "complete" a week and a half after my MCAT scores were received and then received a priority score ~3 weeks after that.

is there a way to see your priority score once you get it?

No -- I think that is just which "group" you are put into (definitely interview, may interview, further review, rejected, etc.)

I think there's a base score (before your interview) and then the committee gives a final score after speaking to your interviewer. None of the scores are disclosed.

Two weeks since I've been complete and priority score.

MAY status today. Complete 9/10. OOS 😛

Interviewed here, and VCU is definitely an AWESOME school that people should be very excited to interview at! All of the interviewers were kind and conversational. No one is trying to trip you up or make you feel uncomfortable.

Hey everyone,

I asked this earlier but didn't get much of a response. Does anyone (either current/former VCU Medicine students or informed applicants) know the process of how students are chosen to do their last two years at INOVA Fairfax?

Is there any way of boosting my chance of getting an INOVA spot?

is anyone interviewing on the 29th? PM me if you want to hang!

I am pretty sure you don't have to "boost" your chances of getting into an INOVA spot, it seems as though they are trying to get more individuals to go this route every year as they are trying to increase their ties to fairfax hospital. I was told that if you wanted it, you would most likely get it, especially if you have ties to the area.

got interview invite today! 🙂 i was a "may" (updated my spot on the spreadsheet)

yay!!!!

for those who interviewed, did the day end by 2 pm? im trying to see if i can make a 5:14 pm flight. thanks in advance!

Yup. We ended at exactly 2pm but depending on how quickly your tour guides go you could be there until 2:15 or 2:30.

maybe today is the day I will receive a priority score.

I decided to call this morning - staff was extremely friendly on the phone - anyways I was marked complete on August 25th and they just checked my application out for review on September 26th. She said it could be 6-8 weeks from here.

from the spreadsheet

it seems like you need a "MAY" status or better to have a chance at interviews for OOS.

just a speculation.

I was complete on the same date (well my letters were downloaded that day anyways - never got a complete status update) and I don't have a priority score either. I'm going to assume that I got sent out in the same batch as you. Thanks for calling and good luck! :luck:
