The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we MAY be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are unable to grant an interview you will be notified by e-mail in March.

I got a status change email twice telling me to go check the status page. It just said that my application was complete and under review.

I got the 'may' status 3 days before I received the II.

Well it's pretty much a congratulation letter and invitation to a "Second Look" event scheduled in March from the Director of Office of Student Outreach Programs.

I just noticed something "...interviews will be granted based on your priority score and the date your file was completed..."

Does that mean the earlier you submitted the secondary the higher your priority score? or how soon submit doesn't determine your score at all but how long it takes til they get to review your file?

i don't think the time you submit affects your priority score. they said that the interviews are granted based on TWO things: priority score + date complete. so that makes me think the two are exclusive.

That's not true. Most people with MAY status and interviews are OOS. I know multiple people who are OOS and have received interviews and acceptances (including myself).

I was IS, but to the OOS who are worried:
1) OOS has a lot more movement, b/c that's how it is. So don't lose hope.
2) If you look at the # of applicants, there are far more OOS applicants/slot than IS. So IS is much easier to get statistically. 49 states and international vs one state. Do the math. I believe the ratio is 60/40 slots (IS/OOS).
3) On the other hand, a lot of OOS candidates are applying to dozens of schools, and they are using VCU as a "backup". This means if they get an accept for an IS school, they will cancel their VCU interview. It also means more waitlist mov't.
4) We literally have someone get an accept the day before orientation or later just about every year b/c someone changes their mind about showing up. (there's also a small scholarship for whoever gets the last accept 🙂)
5) To answer above, no, your score is not affected by the date your app was complete. But like most places, yes, applying late can negatively impact your odds.

Also, to those of you who lost the accept message, feel free to email/call the office and explain that you'd like to see it again, I'm sure they'd email the exact words to you. The admins in admissions are very nice if you're polite to them and don't call them daily.

People with the Further status have received interview invites. You can have either one and you're fine. Check out the spread sheet that is going around it has the data for studentdoc pre-meds and their status. Good luck
