So, I just called admissions office and they said that the committee will meet this coming Monday and my file will be discussed then. And, I should expect a Status Update after that. I was interviewed on Dec 14th. Just FYI.

Thank you for sharing that! I interviewed that same day and I remember them mentioning that we would know before the holiday break! Oh well, no news is good news right? 🙂

I sent in one roughly a month ago, received an email response stating that they do not accept update letters unless it is only to indicate grades from new coursework.

They don't mail you any acceptances but they mailed a second look letter which congratulated you about your acceptance to the school. I will post that letter here again to eliminate any confusion.

I don't know, but earlier in this thread someone said they would reconvene this Monday (today). But I don't know if they will because of the holiday.

On 1/12, we were told that they would reconvene today on MLK day so that they wouldn't fall behind, but, it was mentioned that it was uncertain how many people would make it.

Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. Please continue to check this site to learn when further action has been taken. "

Which status "further" or "may" have been better this application cycle? . Are any of you in the "further" status still waiting for interviews? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

you can't say that, I had similar stats as you, and I got an interview invite about 2 weeks after my secondary was received. just don't lose hope 🙂

Really would like an interview here. MAY status since 10/27. When does VCU hand out invites until, and do they keep spots open during the whole cycle (or is it a feb/march interview a waitlist interview)?

My dear pH public health nerd,

I was a may status member too [OOS that waited months to hear anything]. My invite came with dates as soon as 2 weeks down the road -- so, if they continue that trend, i assume that they will be interviewing for awhile longer (i.e. it's not like some schools that were already booking march interviews way back in december).

the last formal "decision release date" is March 16th (15th?)... I imagine that people that interview before that date are interviewing for a legit spot in the class.

You're welcome! If you're still in school or doing any significant research it might be a good idea to send them an update letter since that's the only kind they take. It might show them that you're really interested. Have you gotten any other acceptances/ interviews?

Only interviewed at my MD state school, no acceptances. I actually sent in a letter of interest/update letter yesterday so we'll see if it helps at all.

Yes, Dr. Whitehurst-Cook will reply back to emails i believe after May letting you know roughly where you are and if it's good or not. However, I do believe during my interview she requested students to not bombard her with emails early on when the wait list is made.

Take a look at the Google Doc (listed somewhere in this thread) and you can see dates people got MAY/FURTHER statuses and if/when they were invited to interview. I have been on MAY since 10/27

As an extension of this, "may" is a word excerpted from one of the 4 or so status updates you can receive on the VCU admissions portal after your file has been reviewed. If the language of your status is ".. may be invited for interview" or something along those lines, you fall into the MAY category; if your status says "the committee would like to consider your file further, you are in the FURTHER category; etc.
