=] II invite! totally unexpected since the 20% chance for OOS.

OOS applicant, 3.8 sGPA 3.79 cGPA 29R MCAT. There's still hope!

Congrats on the II guys!! Would you mind sharing when you were complete?

LOL i never got the complete email... I think I submitted the secondary at the end of august or early September.

My stats are identical to the person with the 3.8gpa and 29MCAT. No II for me tho. Congrats!

II at Drexel and MCW, though 🙂

For you lucky ones with IIs already, what dates are the first interviews?

The first available date is 12/1. There seems to be only one interview day per month (probably because of MMI format).

Wow only one a month? That doesn't seem right. I know their class size is only 60 but I still think they'd need to do a substantial amount of interviews! 😕

One interview day, two sessions. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

II!!!!!!!!!! 3.9, 38O, Michigan resident.
since this is a new school I'm hoping for a little bit of scholarship money

Received an II yesterday afternoon as well. Surprised b/c I am an OOS

Last night there were only 2 interview dates available, Oct 27 & Dec1.

I hear the Oct 27 slots are all filled already though!

October 27th slots are filled. December and January dates are still open, however December is getting close to being filled. When December fills up, the system will open up a February date.

Totally jealous of all u guys! Congrats on all the recent IIs 🙂

Got my II this morning! December must have filled up because I had to do the Jan. 11 date. Seems so far away..

Michigan resident, 3.97 GPA, 28 MCAT

Just got the secondary. I don't have great stats but I'm on non-trad ChemE major and the school is 30 mins from my door. Decisions....

Congrats! Your stats are pretty similar to mine - you give me hope! 😳

Just received email of rejection, OOS, 3.2 undergrad, 3.81 graduate, 31M . Good luck everybody

Wow surprised! I'm sorry to hear that 🙁 I can't believe they're sending out rejections already when the just started IIs. This is speculation, but did you have any ties to Michigan? They may just really be trying to stick to their mission statement 😕

Well decided to submit my AMCAS to this school.. I am IS so hopefully it will help me out a little! I would love to go here though.

Does anyone know how many interview dates that they will be conducting
? I am curious to know what the interview to acceptance ratio will be.

I had no idea I was going to be so interested in CMU's program until they hosted the information session. This is really going to be the longest couple of weeks of my life. :-\ Good luck to everyone else interviewing!

Hi Guys,

I got an interview to complete a secondary roughly a week ago, and just submitted my secondary last night. Given Central has a screening process (though the extent of this screening is unknown), what is the likelihood of receiving an interview invite. And for those of you who have already received interview invites, how long did it take after the secondary was submitted?

I submit my secondary 8/10 and was complete 8/13. I received an interview invite on 10/5. I don't think it should take you as long as it took for me because they only started reviewing files in September. Good luck! 🙂

When do the October 27th interviewers hear back?

When do the October 27th interviewers hear back?

At the information session, they said ~2 weeks after the interview. But at the information session, if I heard correctly, they also mentioned possibly postponing decisions on the first group of interviewees until there was a larger pool for comparison.

At the October 27th interview I was told that we would be told ~2 weeks after our interview!

Anybody care to share their interview experience at Central? The MMI format sounds a lot like speed dating.

does anyone think that since this is a new medical school they will be lenient if one or the other, GPA or MCAT is low and look at the applicants application as a whole?

Overall I think they will tend to be more lenient, but Central is only accepting 60 students. We don't know how Central will value their applicants, but they can't be too stingy because many students look at a new medical school as a risky choice to learn medicine. Why take a chance with Central if you are accepted to Wayne or MSUCHM? I personally think Central will be a great medical school and want to be part of the inaugural class. At this point, though, CMU may be more number orientated or more experience orientated. I think if you have a low GPA but a good MCAT or vice-versa you should be fine. The October 27th interviewers should be getting their decisions next week, so hopefully we can learn more about what exactly Central is looking for. Hopefully that will pump some life into this thread.

Rejected (no interview). 3.5/31/OOS.

Surprised, especially given how I feel like it was one of my most well-done secondaries.

Hey it has been approximately two weeks since the October 27th interview. Good luck to everyone that interviewed!

I interviewed on 10/27 and got an email that the board met today. Did anybody hear anything?

Def agree. The info session was awesome. I was at the one on 10/12. It's a beautiful school with a very thoughtful curriculum and admissions process. I'm waiting to hear about an interview.
