Still hanging in there somehow... Maybe this means they'll send out another round of II's this week?

My status changed to "correspondence has been sent" almost immediately I think.

Thanks for the response! Apparently the status is the same for IIs, though. =/
I really hope that's the case. The time seems to be right for some more invitations. The past two years, they've sent an e-mail to people in early February saying "There is a very slim chance we'll give out more interviews, but let us know if you want to stay in consideration for one". There was always another round of IIs a few days before that e-mail.
It's weird...I don't want a rejection but at this point, but I'm pretty sure GWU isn't sending me an interview. I'd almost rather be on the rejection list so that I can move on, but at the same time they're still doing interviews so there's still hope. Confusing situationand not a fan 👎
PS--GWU, if you're reading this, I still want an ii please thanks
Haha I feel exactly the same way!
Hi DrBarbie, I knew you already pre-matched to TX school. Are you still waiting for ii from OOS school?
AXED. Complete July, On hold since August
Good luck to everyone else!
Looks like the axe is still swinging today...maybe some more of us will get news in either direction...fingers crossed for everyone!
Only this one. My boyfriend of many years lives in DC, so I agreed to give it my best shot.[/QUOTE
Got it. Good luck to you.

Thanks, you as well!
Got this from GW this afternoon:
Dear MsPlasmodesmata:
Thank you for your sincere interest in The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. At this time, our interview season is beginning to come to a close for the 2013 admissions cycle. Your file has been placed in a pool of applicants that the Committee may review for remaining interviews.
In order to remain under consideration for any remaining interviews, we request that applicants send an email to [email protected]. Please note that your interest cannot be made known or tracked via telephone.
This email must include (in the body only, no attachments):
1. Your Name
2. AAMC ID #
3. A detailed explanation of your specific interest in our MD program
In addition, you are welcome to include in the email any updated grades for current coursework and any new experiences or activities. This email must be received by the Office of Admissions no later than February 8, 2013 at 5pm EST. After this time, those who have not responded will be withdrawn from consideration.
Although this does not end what we are sure is an unpleasant waiting period for you, your desire to become a physician, your understanding of the requirements, and your perseverance are commendable. In the event that your status changes, we will contact you immediately via email.
We greatly appreciate your patience and truly wish you success in achieving your career goal.
Sincerely,
Diane P. McQuail, M.A.
Assistant Dean of Admissions

Same... which is awkward because I sent them an update a couple weeks ago. Anyone think I should re-send the same update? Not sure how to approach this...

They've sent these e-mails in previous cycles, but usually not for a couple more weeks. I sent an update/LOI about a month ago, and I have nothing new to add. Should I basically just repeat myself?
Same. Ok GW, I'll play your game because I believe in you and love the DC Metro area. 😎
I would say no on sending the exact same thing.
ditto. I hate the game but i'm gonna play it.
I'm just glad they've finally acknowledged my existence, haha.
I just got this email as well. I take it this is a good sign?
Well, not being rejected is a good sign. But I think this is simply an attempt to further cull the herd; a lot of applicants have been accepted somewhere they'd attend over GW, but they haven't officially withdrawn.
I got a bit too optimistic before reading it, since the subject line said "reply requested" I thought it might be an II 🙁
ETA: Good grief, there are 47 people currently reading this thread?!

yeah i got this email too and it's definitely meant to narrow down the applicants for them. personally i will be withdrawing rather than gushing to the admissions staff after already doing so in the secondary and two update letters
Just got this email.. its been a few weeks since I sent in a letter of updates/interest... I don't really know what else to say... but will definitely send something in. Does anyone know how many people who get the email eventually get II's? Thanks!
I am not sure what to do. I have been accepted to a state school that is what I believe to be the PERFECT fit for me...but how do I know GW isn't if I don't interview? Or at least go all the way through this. Also I paid so much to apply...I'd at least like to finish the process. Any thoughts/words of wisdom?
Will you be OOS at GW?

I'm going to play the game and write the letter despite being accepted somewhere I love too. In your case I think you have a little more to gain by writing the letter (being close to your bf), so I'd definitely go for it.
Thanks for the advice! I'll go ahead and send it in and see what happens.

Just some food for thought.. that I literally just thought of... They'll know where you have been accepted to already once February rolls around...
So I'm guessing these are going to need to be golden![]()

They do?? I had no idea lol
Oh, they won't know til February? I thought schools who had your application were always notified pretty quickly when you get accepted elsewhere.
In that case, should I specify that I'd go to GW over where I've already been accepted? Or is that kind of intent letter best for after an interview?
