i was thinking closer to 800, that is if 1100 interview, 200 get in right off the bat and 100 rejected....
I was trying to estimate more conservatively than I had initially, which is more along the lines of what you just posted. I sincerely hope that's not the case; but it seems far more likely.

i don't think they WL 800 people. it wouldn't help them at all to have that many applications to look thru when they try to fill up their class off the WL. Especially when you consider how many people send updates post-WL. 400 seems more reasonable to me.

I agree with your thought process and trust me, I hope there are only 400 on it as well.

I was just basing this off of the numbers everyone has stated in the past few months in this thread..... that they interview a bit over 1,000; reject less than 10% right off the bat; and straight accept 180.

Who knows...

it would be nice if someone had an accurate number of how many were waitlisted in past years....

how does it work from here? do they have us ranked somehow and gradually make offers or do they just make a ton of offers on that one day in May to a big chunk the list?

I don't imagine people start moving off the waitlist until that date in May, because that is when deposits are due... i don't imagine many spots open up before then or if they even start trying to compensate for them since they overaccept a bit off the bat.

anyone have some accurate insight on this?

I believe everyone who is not accepted is waitlisted(at least that's what I think I read somewhere on one of these threads).. someone correct me if I'm wrong though

Someone earlier in the thread reported a post interview rejection and I also know that they do reject post interview.

People last year started being accepted off the alternate list in early may before the decision deadline

random question, but are the ppl in the class of 2017 facebook group official/have sent in deposit/committed, or they just ppl who have been accepted. Hope its the latter, otherwise the class already has 140 kids in it!!

This might seem like a dumb question but does anyone know who the dean of admissions is? I know the assistant dean is Diane McQuail..

Oh dear...
if it makes you feel better the class of 2016 group ended up with a total of 216 ish or so.. i think a lot of people in those groups might be undecided at this point

Slightly, but when you're on the waitlist, everything seems like doom 🙁

A handful are MS2s to help answer questions.

Well, I got anxious yesterday and called them to make sure they're still sending out II's. She said "yes, I can't give specifics on when they'll be sent but there are still many interview spots available in March!". So hopefully we'll hear something... today?

Thanks for sharing the info with us

I've been set on this March 1st deadline for interview invites, but something tells me it won't end up being this week...I can't even imagine waiting longer, but I also can't imagine finally knowing.

Well my interview invite came on February 14th and was scheduled for March 8th so assuming they follow the same 3 week time table and they stop interviewing at the end of March, I'd say the last day for interviews is next Friday.

some people's interviews are over a month after they get notified, so there is no way to know

So for anyone looking to submit additional LORs, my writer emailed GWU the letter directly (with my AMCAS ID on it) and GWU emailed back confirming that they got it.

The last IIs will probably go out sometime next week. But I doubt rejection e-mails will be sent at the same time. We'll probably have to wait another week. 😡

I would love to take up one of those last interview spots. My sister and brother-in-law are moving to DC in a couple of weeks and it would be so nice to be close to some family!

Pretty sure it is just the people accepted. I haven't put in my deposit yet/committed and I'm in it. Also, a fair number of people in the group have been in it a while but haven't introduced themselves. I'm presuming this is because they are waiting to hear/get off the WL somewhere else.

How much do people actually talk to each other thru these fb groups? Don't med schools have ice breakers built into orientation week?

Why have icebreakers when you can use facebook

What are the chances that GW will call me up for an interview still? They havent rejected me yet so I'll stay positive about this.

There's a 0% chance they'll call you. There's maybe a 5% chance they'll email you.

I interviewed here yesterday and really enjoyed it. The students were really down to earth and seemed to work well together, which is very important to me. As far as my interviews, whereas it sounds that most people had "conversational" interviews, my faculty interview was quite the opposite. Nearly right out of the gates I was asked 3-4 hypothetical/ethical questions, my thoughts on the ACA, etc. That being said, I'd been practicing for these types of questions for the past few months and I'd never been asked about them at my other interviews, so it was nice that I was prepared and finally got to discuss these topics! My student interview was indeed very low stress and conversational. Also, for those wondering, somebody asked the new director of admissions about the rolling admissions process, and he mentioned that they are still looking at sending out another batch of II's, so don't give up hope yet!

there is a new director of admissions?

Sorry, that probably wasn't his exact title, it was something in that realm...he just spoke to us briefly and mentioned he had only been there for a matter of months. In any event, he did make it sound like more II's would go out.

Welp, for all of us STILL on re-review, I guess we know now that "the beginning of March" does not = March 1st.
Here's to more waiting! +pity+

yeah seriously. Most of the schools say that they will get back to me by February. I haven't heard a single word from a few schools still. And I don't want to be the person to keep calling their offices.

Anyone know when they usually begin extending acceptances to the hordes on the WL? I'm hoping it's a little sooner than the usal mid-May, but have a feeling that's pretty much it.

Based on previous treads mid-May seems about right

UNLESS they extended their interview period (past the month of March), all of the re-review people should be hearing this week.........

Thanks a bunch. I wish the WL selection process wasn't such a mystery. 🙁 I'd love to know how they decide to extend offers to those on the WL...

yeah i have no idea. trying to get off the WL is like trying to get an II all over again :/. There's such a large pool you have to stand out in

Yup. Plus, you have no idea what it was that put you over the edge to get that intial II. I was elated but slightly more surprised that they interviewed me so soon after I submitted my secondary.

I have no idea..I haven't noticed any patterns in particular with respect to when interview invites/rejections have gone out in the past...

There isn't a pattern with regard to weekdays that IIs and rejections are sent. I've gone back through this year's thread and last year's and I've had no luck finding any pattern.

I do think the last IIs will go out this week, but knowing GW, the rejections won't be sent til later.

:luck:

It's weird though. In last year's class, an individual got called for an interview in early April. I pray that they do not make us wait that long to know. Getting extra stressed out this week about II's here considering it's my top choice. I've also gone back into previous years threads and it makes me even more nervous. I've been on hold since early Oct here...so this has been a long, grueling process for me. It's wearing me out! :scared: My horoscope says I'm lady lucks companion, let's hope thats true this week and I am granted an II. :luck:

Yeah, I saw that random April II from last year...but it was quite the anomaly. GW is my top choice too, but since I was told on the phone that "the very beginning of March" would be the end of the IIs, if I don't get one this week I'm chalking this up as a loss and moving on. Rejection e-mail forthcoming or not.
I've been on hold since October too, so I'm right there with you on the grueling frustration.
