Just got my rejection.
Well...it's been real, guys. Thanks for helping me cope with the anxiety leading up to today.

I'm sorry to hear that 🙁 Good luck though next year... Thanks for being a cheerleader on this forum!

So I didn't get anything in the mail -- I chased my mailman down the block for nothing. Any ideas guys? If it wasn't a federal crime, id be totally tempted to raid my neighbors boxes.

Getting rejected sucks;... been there, done that. Things will work out. It will make your success story that much sweeter, and perhaps you will be extra motivated when you finally do get accepted.

Waitlist letter in the mail today. I guess there is still some hope!

Yea I got "prioritized wait list"...is that different than regular waitlist? Just more waiting....

Got waitlist letter today. So much for being able to make decisions and plan ahead.

congrats to everyone who got waitlisted -- i got a good ole' rejection letter today 🙁👎 to say i'm devastated is kind of an understatement... good luck to everyone though! i'll see some of you (but hopefully not many) next cycle... ZOMG

I got my waitlist letter today. So much better than a rejection letter like I was expecting, but now the wait continues.

Anybody know the difference between prioritized waitlist and regular waitlist? Or is it all the just the same thing?

My rejection mentioned that they made a prioritized wait list (or it might've said "alternate list"..I don't remember, already threw it away lol) that I wasn't selected for, so I'm fairly certain that's simply what they call their entire waitlist. It's all the same thing. I think prioritized just means ranked.

Very sorry to hear about y'all's rejections. Nothing I can say can make it better, but I believe if you made it this far, there's no doubt you've got the right stuff to be a doctor. Just a matter of time.

Silly question for everyone who received waitlist letters... did you letter say prioritized waitlist, or prioritized alternant list?

So, based off of the 2009 board, it's looking like no acceptance letters were sent out after the emails went through, just waitlist and rejections.

yeah, I don't know and haven't heard of a single person this year who got a May acceptance letter without an e-mail a few weeks ago.
I wish the office had been a bit clearer during all the phone calls they got from us asking about acceptances going out after May 15.

Rejected. Good luck to the rest of you guys! I was accepted to my instate school awhile back but I was reeeaally hoping for some love from LSU

Prioritized alternate dated May 16. Looks like I'm going to Shreveport.

I called admissions, the lady said there is only one list. They just call it an alternate list. She wouldn't give me any additional information about available spots or anything. I wish they at least told us how many people are on the alternate list.

I know other schools will at least tell you what percentage you are ranked -- a friend of mine said her state school told her she was top third of waitlist, for instance. That would be more helpful than not knowing a thing at all.

Thanks! Though the letter didn't sound too promising to me :-(

I'll probably start up the reapplication process next week. Were you accepted anywhere else or will we possibly be toiling together all over again next year?

O no i'll be here again... hahah! I've already started studying to retake the MCAT... yes my life has come to that! 😱

Are you freaking kidding me!?!?!?!? Rejected.... I'm in state student, 32 MCAT and 3.95 GPA!?!?!

well guys, rejection for me. but ill see some of you in august 14'!! thanks for all the up to date postings. Ive enjoyed getting to 'cyber-know' yall. congrats to all accepted and good luck to all waitlisted. for those rejected, keep your heads high and stay positive.

I heard, second-hand, that LSU-Nola is not going to accept OOS applicants next year? This year, they accepted 40, but apparently that has been closed except to children of previous graduates. I hope that isn't the case - I'm a WA resident, but I did my M.S. at Tulane and will be doing AmeriCorps in Nola through next May, so I would qualify for residency as soon as I change my driver's license and vehicle registration.

Sounds like a poor business model. IMO, LSU-NOLA will only expand the number of OOS applicants in order to help pay for all of their new facilities and equipment.

It may depend on what happens in Shreveport.

What do you mean? I know they're closed to OOS applicants, even though I would hypothetically qualify later this year - you need to have LA declared on AMCAS.

And I agree it would be a very poor business decision, the hospital and public school systems in LA are desperately underfunded right now (thanks Jindal!) and this would only exacerbate the problem.

There's the outside possibility that they would close the school in Shreveport. The hospital will no longer fund it, and the budget will have to come from the state. I doubt they would close the school, but I guess it's possible. They would need those 40 seats in NO for instate.

Wow, where did you hear that? I know that there is a money crisis, but that seems extraordinarily drastic.

What a stupid idea. Jindal is a ***** - he's cut state funding the absolute bone in some sort of misguided attempt to build his conservative chops so he can become politically relevant on a national scale, and the actual effects of his policies have ruined the state-healthcare system. Seriously, privatization of state hospitals? How infuriating.

It's possible the state just doesn't have any money. From what I understand the boost that Katrina gave LA was ephemeral, and now J is dealing with ledgers that are pretty effed up. Dunno if it's really an ideology driving these decisions.

Well, instead of shutting down hospitals and flooding the remaining emergency rooms with psych patients, he could try to, you know, raise more money, and accept rather than reject the federal 100 percent funding of the Medicaid expansion. But that would end his political career - gotta prove he's just as spiteful and short-sighted as Rick Perry.

I am not sure why Jindal is trying so hard to screw the state. His national prospects died the day he did the Repulican response to the state of the union address in 2009. He might as well try to help his actual constituents instead of trying to woo potential ones.
