Well if the email theory is true, guess I'm rejected or wait listed 🙁
I called and asked if I would've gotten an email already in this case, and she would only say that "not all acceptances have been sent".
Perhaps carpediem was right: they don't wanna jump the gun and send a bunch of acceptances til they get more deposits in and have a better idea of how many spots will open. They could be working off a ranked potential wait list made on May 1, and are pulling people from it as the days pass, and prepping the acceptance letters as they go along.

Full disclosure: most of this theory comes from me trying to make myself feel better.

I think that the emails, as others have stated, are sent to those that the ad com see has acceptances at other places. Thus those individuals need to be contacted prior to the 15th. Thus they get emails. I have not gotten anything today either and am growing frustrated. I feel like the personnel in the ad office do not actually know what will go out when. I have not heard about anyone else getting in.

You were right about the emails. Sorry I haven't had time to post anything on SDN. There is alot of frustration already, so hopeful I can clarify and help you calm down a bit.
I received an acceptance email from LSU a few days ago. They wanted to hear back from students before May 15, so they emailed those got accepted first. With this being said, If you have not received an email from LSU, it does not mean that you were rejected. I think with an NFA, you're pretty much wait-listed, so please do not lose hope👍. There will be more people drop their spot.

Good luck to all of you! 🙂👍

hi!! congrats on the acceptance!! that's amazing! 👍 😀 hope you don't mind me asking but were you accepted elsewhere as well? we were trying to figure out if the acceptance emails went in large number to those who had received multiple acceptances?

So if we didn't get an email does that mean we are not getting in with this round of letters?

So if we didn't get an email does that mean we are not getting in with this round of letters?

Not necessarily. When I called today the admissions lady said (twice) "not all acceptances have been sent". That was even after I asked her, "so since I've been accepted elsewhere, if I had been accepted to LSU-NO would I have already received an e-mail?"

Maybe she's not allowed to tell me on the phone straight-up that I wasn't accepted. No idea. She said they hoped to have them all sent by Wednesday. I didn't ask about WL letters and rejections.

Also, NFA does not equal automatic wait list. Some NFA people will be rejected by the end of the month...or at least, that's what past threads show.
But it's true that as the double-hold deadline passes across the country, chain reactions of withdrawals will occur and hopefully a few more spots will open. But if they've over-accepted in anticipation of spots opening up, we might not see much movement of the wait list.

Congrats! Did you get the e-mail last Wednesday?
Maybe the e-mails were the acceptances that were sent that day, not letters like we thought.

Much love for everyone camping their mailboxes, this part is the absolute worst. Here's a care package to lighten the load a little.

 LOL. I love you, scarshapedstar!

That first cat is definitely me with every friend/family member/classmate/coworker for at least the past two months. :annoyed:

Thank you! LSU-NO is the only school that I got accepted. I'm not sure if they know you got accepted to other schools or not.

Good luck to everyone! 👍

Well, at least now we know the e-mails weren't only for people who have other acceptances.
Gives me some hope, though I'm still not gonna hold my breath!
Yay for pvn!!! At least that's one of us! 😉

I don't see how they'd know whether you're accepted to other schools? My personal thought on the situation is they still have a few more acceptances to dish out via email. That would gel w/ reports out of the admissions office of some acceptances still floating about. They putatively ranked the WL on May 1st for the rest of the summer, and any acceptances would come from the top of the list. They'll see how many they pull off the ranked WL after the May 15th due date, and then send letters out to the remaining WLers and rejections soon after.

I'm OOS and I interviewed in early March, so I ain't feeling too bullish on my chances at this point. Though I imagine there is a higher chance of an OOS kid declining LSU on May 15th if he or she has an offer elsewhere, so I guess it might have to do with how dogged LSU pursues their 40 OOS slots/class quota.

I am just confused where the whole email thing came from -- has this been done previously? I've never heard of them doing this before at all. I think you're idea makes sense -- tho it's not fun I think to hold letters for 2 weeks after the committee met. That's a long time for us to sit here and obsess

Schools definitely are notified about which of their accepted applicants have more than one acceptance (and to which schools they were accepted) starting in April:
https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/amcas/faqs/305002/canschoolsseeotherschools.html
Somewhere I read that in May, all applicants' acceptance info becomes visible for schools that haven't made a decision on you yet...but that might be wrong. I'm still looking for the source.

I agree with this. It seems like they're determining acceptances in waves based on how many spots have been released or retained over the past week and the next few days. The e-mails were probably the highest "ranked" of the recent acceptances, and thus went out first. That's the best way I can rationalize the lady on the phone telling me that not all acceptances have been sent, but will be by the end of the week.

I found acceptance e-mails in the 2009-2010 thread, during this same week in May. Oddly enough, it was like this year: no batch of letters preceding the e-mails.

Ooo that makes sense I guess ... The wait continues!

But if they've over-accepted in anticipation of spots opening up, we might not see much movement of the wait list.

I'm pretty sure, in the orientation given by Dr. Eubanks, he said they are not allowed to do this. They are only allowed to give out acceptances available, and can only give out more when people notify them that they are not accepting the spot.

Yes, he said that they could only send out acceptances to those spots that have opened up.. So hopefully there will be substantial waitlist movement!

No, they can - he just said it's reeeeeally awkward if they overdo it and have to reneg...

Thank you LavenderGroom! In the email they said that it's very unusual for them to send people emails, so I guess they only send out emails when it's very necessary. I have no clue why they did it this year.

Please don't lose hope everyone!

Nothing. Called the admissions office and all I got was, "letters will be sent out later this week". I tried to press the woman on the phone a bit, but she wouldn't say anything more specific.

I called the admissions office yesterday and they told me that we should hear something by the end of this week. It seems like no one really knows what's happening!

I got confirmation from an inside source that letters were sent off as well! and that there were "a good bit" of acceptances sent out. So now we wait... Good luck from me as well!

bmizzac, did your source mean that acceptances were e-mailed, by any chance?
Because it's strange that no one seems to have gotten any kind of letter through snail mail yet =/

Hey lavendergooms, yeah I agree my contact was wrong about the letters. They said letter were being sent but it must have been emails. They were sure that some acceptances were being sent out though and probably just assumed letters. I had never herd of the email thing either at this time. It does make since though that they would have used that before this may 15th deadline. Sorry about the miss information, I try hard not to say more than I know for fact.

It's fine! Another poster called the admissions office and was told acceptances were being "mailed" that day too. I'm just trying to make sense of everything so I can form some (likely incorrect) assumptions about what's gonna happen in the next few days, like I usually do.

But at this point I've stopped looking out the window for the mailman because it seems like nothing has been sent via snail mail, lol. I wish the office would be just a little bit more straightforward and transparent about this process.

Does anyone know roughly until when acceptances are given out?

When I called Monday, they said not all acceptances have been sent and they hope to finish sending them by the end of the week.
Thanks! Hopefully next week we will get something.. All hope is not lost.. 😀

learn to make memes over the summer if u don't know how to yet
very useful talent to have

Called the admissions office earlier and they said that they are gathering the letters, which include acceptances, waitlist, and rejections. She said they should be maling them today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed everybody! Good luck!

Thank you for calling. I am so tired of this build up and let down, so I really hope they actually sent out the letters this time. My heart can't take much more of this! Good luck to everyone waiting, and I hope to see y'all in August!

Seconded.
Here's to hoping I don't get a rejection letter during my graduation weekend :scared:

Buddy of mine got a letter already today, but it was bad news....good luck everyone!

Yikes...brace yourselves, everyone. I think the fact that they sent out acceptance e-mails before May 15 means there will be an exceptionally low amount of actual acceptance letters sent at this point.

yep I just got mine, not even waitlisted

I'm so sorry 🙁
They interview over 400 for a class of 200, let's not forget that. And if they've had the vast majority of accepted people retain their spots, the wait list might be really small too, since they might not anticipate much movement.
What city do you live in, Mansome?
