I had a great time at the interview yesterday! Everyone was very friendly and the day was very well organized. As SisterDisco08 had mentioned previously, there is a nondisclosure agreement before the interviews. Therefore, applicants are not allowed to disclose any information about the interviews. The whole day was great though. The students were very friendly and were open to questions.

I have to agree with Reaction! Interview day in Grand Rapids was made to be as non-stressful as possible. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and willing to answer questions.

For those of you worried about the MMI process, just relax. I didn't know what to expect so I looked up tips online, reviewed my own application, and made a point to remember to breathe - it's not as scary as you may be expecting.

Every applicant interviewed has been asked to sign a confidentiality agreement with CHM prohibiting them from speaking of any of our MMI specifics. The best advice I can give you is the google general MMI tips, know your application well, relax, and have fun with it. Interview day at MSU is not stressful at all.
Ok great, thanks! I'm looking forward to it

Ok cool, the MMI is what I'm worried about... Good to know

Any other In-Staters out there waiting on an interview decision? No update since the "prelim review" status back in the middle of August ha....

Yep IS and haven't seen anything but "preliminary" since 8/9. They also won't accept letters of update or interest until (read as "if") you've been placed on hold. Definitely frustrating.

My buddy with 3.98/39/IS and exceptionally well-rounded hasn't heard back either. Interesting criteria they must be looking for.

Wow ha definitely must be looking for something more than stats then. If your buddy hasn't heard back yet with numbers like that then I probably won't hear anything until next application cycle ha.

I finally did it and applied here.. After reading and hearing so much about the school, I would love to go here!

Many schools don't interview applicants who be more likely to attend another school

Do any of you guys know how MSU is going to inform us if we are accepted or not tomorrow? Do they do phone calls or email?

Uh they have a schedule of dates that they told us at interview.. Oct 17 is the next acceptance date. Followed by Oct. 31

I interviewed 9/21... SUPER excited! I've had just an amazing day totally blessed

I wish! Two exams in the next few days so I'll be doing a happy dance from behind a computer screen for now haha

Good luck to everyone else! Good things are coming your way!

Me too! I interviewed on 9/21. Congrats.

Congrats man!!! That's awesome 🙂 I can't wait til my date rolls over.. Hopefully I'm as lucky as you! MSU would be an awesome medical school to attend!

Sisterdisco or anyone else know if MSU accepts letter updates?

I interviewed 9/21 and was accepted this evening as well! Great job guys!

I got put on the Alternate List back on 10/03. I wonder why so far ahead of the 10/17 date? I interviewed on 9/14.

Were you early admission? That would be the only way you could have heard back before 10/15.. and that would also explain you interviewing on 9/14

MSU does not accept any updates, LOI, etc. until (if) you've been placed on hold or the alternate list (aka if you get rejected you never get to update them). Pretty silly in my opinion, but that's how they do it.

Accepted applicants,

Have you received the email with details how to accept your position yet? Wondering how everyone is confirming the acceptance

I thought there was something with a deposit for when you were accepted to a given med school

Right but I'm not actually sure how they're facilitating this exchange. Check? Online? Paypal? Where do I send it? Etc. I still haven't even received the email saying I'm in, just the phone call from Dr. Maurer

Theres a place where you submitted your secondary/get status updates with it

Alternate list :/ Hopefully I get bumped up..

Fair enough, but I'm nowhere near a 39 MCAT and I haven't heard anything since August while others have gotten II that were complete in September.

Was just hoping I would have heard some sort of news, good or bad, by now ha.

Pirates- They emailed me on Sept. 26 at 4pm, the day after the call from Dr. Maurer. It has all the details you'll need to get going. Lot of hurry up and wait, I've finished my background check/$100 deposit and am just waiting for final acceptance at this point. Congrats to you all! I'm excited to be classmates!

Are you IS? Sounds like we're in a similar situation. None of the MI state schools have gotten back to me either since being complete the beginning of August. Have you heard from Wayne or UofM (or CMU, though I didn't apply there)?

Got this email as well. Paid the deposit and all just waiting for the Certiphi email at this point

If you were placed on the alternate list, hope is not lost... promise. =)

Ya I'm IS and only applied to MSU and UofM. Still "Under Review" at UofM since July and ready for "Preliminary Review" at MSU since August ha.

Nope, I was regular admission.

I'll be interviewing another one of you tomorrow 🙂 Will not be at lunch this time though.

And to those who are getting concerned that they haven't yet received an II: It's still pretty early in the cycle (if you're going to get concerned, January/February is when most people do). I know a good handful of people who all interviewed on the last possible day (and all through Jan-April in general) and were outright accepted.

Submitted secondary a week ago, Canadian applicant from Toronto, around 3.60 GPA, 33R MCAT, currently in a clinical research project at a hospital, volunteered at a dermatology clinic for 150 hours and at a street festival to raise money for epilepsy research. Still doing prereqs for in my senior year @ University of Toronto.

Application on hold pending a reference letter which still hasn't been received yet.

Any chance I can score a II from MSU?

Loved my interview day in GR! Loved the students, loved the school!
Fingers crossed for some love in return!

Congrats to those who have been accepted!

Placed on hold today.....complete 8/29th (3.6/34 IS).

Kind of sucks...it's like they are telling you that you're not good enough but maybe they'll change their mind later. I thought I was a pretty good fit but guess not.
