You guys should be fine. That happened a few times last year too.

I called them and they said IT is looking ai it.
So let's hope we are still good!

I was able to login just now and it seems to be working fine. no updates though. 🙁

I got a little nervous when I saw the error last night as I have read that other schools simply remove applicants from the system if they are no longer being considered for an interview.

schools actually do this?! do you know which ones?

and +1 to my portal going from error to fine again. with no updates.....sigh 😳

Interviewers got student assignments today. We will enjoy reading all about you! 🙂 Best of luck to everyone, and SEE YOU SOON!

Also, I *believe* (this hadn't yet been finalized at our meeting) that you will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement regarding the content of the MMI interviews. Please know that MSUCHM is trusting you to uphold your own sense of integrity: please do not reveal ANY information about MMI questions or happenings to anyone--that means especially not posting them on here, or in the "interview feedback" section on this website. While we understand that you probably want to help each other, it is imperative that you do not share any information about the MMI portion of the interview with others, because if people come into the interview knowing exactly what to expect from the MMI sessions, we don't get accurate information out of them, so you effectively ruin the interview for them. A good portion of the logic behind MMI interviewing is to see how you "think on your feet", so if you come in knowing what to expect, it ruins the whole premise of conducting the MMI style. Again, I *believe* you will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement saying that you will not discuss the content of the MMI portion of the interview, and I *believe* that the statement has consequences up to the point of a withdrawal of acceptance if it is found that you breached the confidentiality agreement. Regardless, whatever the consequences are, they will not be worth compromising your integrity or application, so just don't even put yourself in that situation. You have worked much too hard to get to this point! This confidentiality agreement thing could have changed since the admissions meeting, but that was the idea on the table at the time.

So, good luck, and don't discuss the MMI content on here in any way, or anywhere else! 🙂

Instate-student. Re-applicant. Attended MSU undergrad.
GPA:3.595 MCAT - 35P - B 14, P 12, VR 9.
Decent ECs + letters.
Complete: 8/23
Hoping for an interview, anyone know when they start to review heavy numbers of applications?

Can anyone tell me what they mean when they ask:

What are the advantages of using a public health approach to maximize individual and population health status?

I have no idea what the question is asking or how to beging answering it.

What are my chances of admission if they put my application of hold and generally, how long will I have to wait now to find out if I interview?

-Undergraduate Degree: BS in Biopsych, Cog, and Neuroscience from U of Michigan
-GPA 3.3, science 3.1
-MCAT 29
-tons of community service and activity hours, plus worked in an ECLS/ECMO research lab

-Thanks!

You def have a shot. As a reference, I was put on hold today and and I have the exact same GPA as yours from UofM but my MCAT is 2 points lower. I don't have a response to the waiting for an interview part lol maybe someone else can tell u that one

Has anyone interviewed with CHM yet? I'm scheduled for October 5th and am wondering how it all goes.

What sort of questions are asked by the medical student interviewers? Is it open or closed file?

Thanks!

Because I know it'll be asked: I'm a MI resident, 25 yrs old and a non-trad applicant. Science GPA is 3.1 & MCAT 25. I've got a TON of ECs, work experience, and some research too.

The student interviewers haven't gotten their required questions yet, but just as for any interview, make sure you can comfortably and confidently talk about the activities listed in your application, because you will most likely be asked about some of them. It is semi-open. We have all of your written things but not your grades/MCAT

Thanks for the info!

You guys will stress out much more than you need to about the interviews 😛 Remember that we are not some god-like creatures. We're just people, and we just want to have a conversation to get to know you. And you guys are experts in you and the topic of why you want to be physicians, so there's really nothing to worry about 🙂

I had a great time interviewing and giving a tour today! Also, heard pretty good feedback about the MMI's, FYI.

Had a blast at interview day last week. Feel free to PM me about questions, etc... but remember we had to sign a non-disclosure about the MMI so I can't get into specifics there. Some quick overall impressions: wonderful staff, well-structured day, and probably the clearest financial aid presentation I've had... well... ever.

And relax about the MMI... its fun, I promise!

Any in-staters with similar stats to mine (3.6o/3.76s; 35)? I've been complete since 8/6, and I feel like I must have been placed on hold. I kind of want to contact them and see what's up.

(I really don't mean this as any form of cockiness or complaining, just concerned 😕)

I'm in that ballpark, you're a little higher, haven't heard a peep yet but I wasn't complete until early September. I guess this means I shouldn't be expecting to hear from them for a while.

I have a friend with similar stats and got an II today... there is hope for you !

II today
OOS 3.65GPA 32MCAT
scheduled for Friday October 26th

OOS Interview Invite on 09/25/2012 I was complete on 09/12/2012. So far I'm averaging approximately a 2 week turn around period from complete to interview invite (I even got one two days after I was complete) ! I thought I was submitting late in the cycle, but I guess it's just the luck of the draw. :luck: Now it's really getting expensive (even though 2 were MD/PhD invites) I can't get any flights below $500 to Detroit + a bus/train ride to Lansing = $$$$ :-( Anyone know of a good way to get to Lansing from Detroit (cheap)? I might have to rent a car 😛 I see that the last direct bus leaves Lansing at 4:30pm and the interview is supposed to be until 5:00pm. I'm thinking of catching a flight at 9:30pm. Any advice ??? I can't miss my flight back home because I have to catch another flight leaving the same day (a few hours later) to Pennsylvania.

There is an airport near Lansing, it may be more expensive to fly in but less expensive then getting a shuttle/taxi from Detroit. Its called Capital City Airport. Good luck.

no News 😕

Canadian citizen, went to school in US though

If I was complete well before people who have gotten II, is it pretty likely that I have been passed over?

Not at all, there a lot to review and they are looked at in different ways by different people, be patient

Thanks unfortunately all Lansing flights had crazy hrs and would not allow me to make my flight to Pennsylvania. I got a red eye flight for a bit cheaper to Detroit and will rent a car.... investing in my future... Hope it works out!

Anyone headin out to Grand Rapids for Oct. 5 interview? 🙂

seeing all the interview invites is so exciting!

I'm really nervous though because I will barely submit my secondary for this university tomorrow. Going through some last minute revisions.

good luck, everyone!

What are people people's statuses? I've been on "preliminary review" for 2 months now and they won't accept any updates or LOIs until you've been put on hold (what they call the alternative list)... -_-

+1 under preliminary review since 7/19

I'll be interviewing one of you on Friday here in GR, and eating lunch with all of you. Good luck!

I got an interview invite on 9-25 (Tue), and my interview date is Oct. 19 (Fri). So excited!!!
I'm kinda worried about the MMI though, as I've only done the traditional 30 min student and faculty interviews. Any tips on how to prepare?

Every applicant interviewed has been asked to sign a confidentiality agreement with CHM prohibiting them from speaking of any of our MMI specifics. The best advice I can give you is the google general MMI tips, know your application well, relax, and have fun with it. Interview day at MSU is not stressful at all.

sisterdisco anyway you could shed some light on how often interview invites are going to be handed out?

3.8gpa (both) and 29MCAT. OOS.

I'm pretty sure they get sent out every week or two...I'll see if I can ask

Thanks in advanced if you could get the dates! 🙂 Makes waiting more fun when you can figure out the days!

So you have to pay the fee before you can even see the essay prompts?

It looks like some people have posted different essays. I would like to see the essays before paying. Is thta possible or no?

Maybe I'm being naive but why would seeing the essays matter? You either like the school/mission and are willing to do the work to get in, or you don't. Not trying to be mean here, but you know there are 3 essays, 350 words... and they've been posted... make your choice.
