Interview invite this morning! Chose 8/30. MD only!
 
Interview this morning as well. 8/23! See you guys there 🙂
 
Interviewing on the 23rd. Got II on 7/25.

I am relying on the hotel's shuttle service for transportation to and from TT and the airport. I hope things go well. See some of you there!
 
transmitted on 7/24, received the confirmation email this morning.
 
I was just about to ask the same thing. I was transmitted 5/8 and still no confirmation. Anybody else having this issue?

I also applied for the MD/MPH option and haven't received an interview yet. I did get a confirmation email a while back though. I'm hoping that maybe they're doing MD/MPH on a particular day or something rather than that they passed up my app altogether. Guess we'll see.

Any other MD/MPH people here?

Yeah nothing here either.....I hope that is the case, although I remember reading somewhere on their site that MD/MPH students applications are reviewed on a similar manner with MD students.
 
Just some information for those interested: I called to ask if they had received all the information in my file since I did not get a confirmation. I was told that usually the confirmations are sent after 2 weeks from your submittal. She looked up my application and said "Well, what I can tell you is that your application has been looked at, but keep in mind that our interview process goes all the way to January so the best advice I can give is to be patient. We've only handed out interviews for 3 dates at the moment and there are many more to go." Although I personally didn't take this as good news, anything is possible so I guess we all just have to hang in there!

This still doesn't explain why they wouldn't send a confirmation e-mail if they had already looked at your application. It's making me feel a bit uneasy as well, since I transmitted to the schools shortly after you.

I called them nearly two months ago when I realized I didn't get email confirmation while others did. The guy I spoke to in admissions verified that he had my whole app. He also explained that while the system is supposed to send an automatic email, it often doesn't work that way.

I'm sure you can call/email to verify your info has been received.
 
How are the residency placements at TT El Paso? I know the program is relatively new. Is it possible to get a transitional year or into a match into a competitive specialty like dermatology.

Per the PLF Facebook page, it would appear as those plans are in the works:

"There are plans to increase the entering class size of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in 2013 from 80 to 100 students. Applications are already coming in. During the 2012-13 admissions season, admissions officials anticipate receiving over 3,000 applications with the intention to interview 600 candidates for the 2013 entering class of 100."

I read on the website that they only interview about 25 applicants per day, so if they've only invited for 3 days, that's only 75 people. If they're anticipating interviewing ~600, there are still A LOT of openings. There's still hope 🙂
 
I'm an MD/MPH applicant, too, but not verified yet (also OOS). I also won't have an updated MCAT until 9/5. So I'm patiently waiting on the sidelines, pre-writing secondaries. Did any MD/MPH applicants receive an II yet?
 
For those who have received interview invites, how long after receiving the confirmation e-mail were you invited to be interviewed? I have been confirmed over a week ago and have not heard anything else yet.

Same for me. I wouldn't worry about it, I don't think the system is perfect. I'm also a reapplicant, and from what I remember it was very similar or the same as last time. I also interviewed here last time.

But if you're really concerned, you should just call them and put your mind at ease.

I called about the wrench a while ago, thinking I hadn't completed something. The guy in admission said it never goes away and always stresses people out, but they can't change it; it's a Merlin thing.

You can't really check status. You just have to wait for an email. The only thing you can do is click on "Interview Invite." I believe it's "No Status Found" prior to an II email. After that, it allows you to select a date. Finally, it just lists your chosen date when you click on it.

Just got an II for 9/20 or 9/27. My first II!

Anyone else interviewing on one of these dates? Any feedback from those who have already interviewed?

I was transmitted 7/24 and received a confirmation email from the school on 7/31.

It is a very throughout interview. They will ask ethical and current issues questions as well as any activities on your app. It is open file so they know your mcat/gpa. I think my last interview was also a stress test. They have a list of questions. Be prepared.

Thanks for the quick response and heads up on the interviews. I plan on preparing quite a bit for them.

I just wanna say this school really surprised me. I wasn't really expecting much but this school seemed really great.
 
Im just wondering ... so this school doesnt ask you if anyone in your family is an alum of this school etc etc ...

literally had the exact same thing happen. Still dont have a email even though my app transmitted in early June

I know the first med school class hasnt graduated but all other schools ask if you have had parents attend that school in general .... but it seems that this school doesnt ask you these types of questions which is frustrating ...

I don't get it, why would it matter whether or not they ask you those types of questions? What relevance does it have as to whether you consider the school or not?

Wait.... This school doesn't even have a secondary... Are you talking about TT-Lubbock?
 
Did anyone get an interview yet as an OOS? My application has been complete for nearly 6 weeks and I have not yet heard anything from this school . . . just wondering if maybe they process out of state applicantions later or something

OOS is a long shot buddy. They only take in 7-10 oos students per class.

II as well for September 27th!

I just realized it's a 10-hour drive from Dallas. 🙁 Is anyone flying to El Paso? What is a good website to look for affordable flight tickets? The cheapest I've found is a whopper 260$!
 
II also, but for 10/3 - flights are expensive so might consider driving. 😱

Southwest flies from Houston to El Paso for $135 "wanna get away" prices. Southwest only publishes fares on their site not on any of the travel search engines. Considering Dallas is SW home airport they should have cheap flights to El Paso...

The drive isn't that bad, if you can get someone else to go with you to keep you company. I drove from Arlington to El Paso for my interview at the beginning of this month; the speed limit goes up to 75-80 mph in some areas, which is nice. Although I might be biased because I used to drive back and forth to Lubbock too when I went to Texas Tech, so long drives don't faze me as much anymore.
 
Got II yesterday, for 09/27🙂....Wondering about the cheap flights (I am from houston)....Any help?
