deleted my facebook a couple years ago, but I guess I'll fire up a new one... really liked the whole day yesterday - thought RWJMS did a great job - super excited, as I'm sure everyone else is...

and I almost bought an iPad last week! Good thing I waited...

😀 the reawakening.

Yea I was going to wait till atleast after march, incase they came out with a new one, but don't have worry abt that anymore

Interviewed 12/17 and put on the wait list.

just encouragement for you all... I did not get in until VERY late last year, and now i'm a happy RWJMS M1, so hang in there and be patient.

What is the best way to check the status of an application, calling Admissions? I was complete early November and have not heard anything yet.

A related question... I've been complete since mid-Sept. I called to check status in Early Nov. and was told that my file had been reviewed, no decision had yet been made, and that my file would be reviewed again by the end of the month. That would have been by the end of Nov., and I have not heard anything since. I guess hearing nothing is better than getting an outright pre-interview rejection. But realistically, I suspect my chances are dwindling by the day.

What are your thoughts on calling again to check?

My dilemma: On the "pro" side, calling might initiate another review of my file and demonstrate interest and persistence. On the "con" side, calling could flag me as impatient or worse.

Any advice?

I think waiting two months+ would not mark you as impatient. There's no harm in checking, but they might be waiting for something to tip you over one way or the other. On the "rejection" side, there are better candidates; on the "acceptance" side, there are updates, your phone calls, etc.

In short, I think there's no harm in calling. I've been done for quite a while as well (Oct/Nov), and no word from either UMDNJ schools.

do you mind sharing your stats?

or anyone from the 12/17 interview group that has received word

i also interviewed 12/17 and am wondering why some people have heard but not others. do all decisions come by snail mail?

Acceptances come by phone/email and both waitlists + rejections are sent in the mail!

those involved with admissions here are very nice and i very much doubt an email or a call checking in will be detrimental to your chances.

the dean very much enjoys offering acceptances via phone call. keep your phones handy and look for the 732 area code!

I seriously doubt they keep any track of you calling in other than the person on the other end possibly recognizing your name for whatever reason. Don't even think twice, just call. You probably wouldn't get anything other than "Your file is complete and will be reviewed very shortly". I've been calling every month and getting that same response.

I just called and asked about my status since I am in-state but heard nothing. The lady was very nice and said a final decision should come soon. I'm pre-interview, so I imagine that means a rejection.

Anyone know when is the last interview date and until when are they going to send interview invites ?

I called today to ask and the lady said they interview into March but didn't give an exact date.

I was complete early Sept and still had not heard back. She said they would be getting back to me very soon. Hoping for the best.

Did she use the term "final decision"?

They probably dont send out rejections this early so I am assuming that "~ getting back very soon" is good news.

I called a few weeks ago and was told "very soon" as well. Nothing so far

Are you guys below or above average for this school in terms of stats? I've been complete since Nov and haven't heard back either.

I'm in-state, and I have a 34 MCAT and a 3.3 uGPA. Statistically, I fall just below their median student with a value of 0.98 (1 being a perfect match). With my in-state residence, the number of in-state applicants, I had a 90%+ chance of interview (32% of in-staters get interviewed), with a 31% chance of acceptance assuming I was actually interviewed (obviously less pre-interview). I was complete Nov 1 and a nontrad.

Before you ask, yes, I have spent too much time playing with the numbers. These numbers are conservative (i.e., on the pessimistic side).

What do you guys think about sending another letter of intent after being put on waitlist since dec 14th? I already did write one but since its the end of january I was thinking about writing one more. I dont know what else to do as I know RWJMS takes ppl off waitlist in like may or june, right. Would this lead them to review my file or its of no use? I could use some advice as this is my top choice.

Since you have sent one already, I would wait if I were you. Sending two letters in a short period might make you seem impatient. They are interviewing until the end of march so they are not likely to change their decision on your file until after march.

I would send an update letter with some grades, what classes you are taking, any progress with research, or something else exciting that admissions might not know about. I would mention at the end that RWJ is your first choice. I sent my letter of intent directly to Dr. Terregino. I suggest that you send it in an email straight to her.

In terms of stats I'm above the averages they have listed on their site..

still haven't heard anything from them....has anyone else received any interview invites?

I've had my application complete since August and have yet to get an interview invite or a rejection. I called RWJMS today and the secretary said that I will know something in a few days. She sounded like there was actually going to be news this time instead of the usual line. I'm not sure if that meant I snagged an interview or that everyone who didn't yet get an interview is about to get rejected in a mass e-mail. Any chance anyone in my position (application complete, no interview) could call the admissions office and see if the secretary says the same thing she told me?

I called a month and few days ago and got the same response both times. "you should be hearing something very soon"

Hmm. Interesting. This time it didn't sound like the usual response. IT was more like a decision was made, but she can't tell me until I get the e-mail.

well from last year's thread, seems like pre-interview rejections went out around 2/13. i'm not expecting any good news at this point

i am interviewing tomorrow and nervous about the new format. can anyone give me insight on the types of questions they asked?
Please and thank you!~

No one is really going to be able to tell you much specifically about MMI since they have you sign a non-disclosure agreement, but the most important thing you can do is just to relax and be yourself! I found the process to be a lot less stressful than regular one on one interviews and it gives you a good chance to demonstrate your thinking process and values. If you're interested, you can read the Wikipedia page about MMI which I think has a few scenarios. Overall, the process goes by very quickly, which I appreciated! Just try to center yourself between stations and not overanalyze anything you did in the last station, since you can't do anything about it! The important thing is to stay calm and rational. Good luck!!:luck:

I didn't read anything in this topic. Just called today, file is complete and will be hearing shortly by email. Seems like decision has been made, they couldn't say anything more.

I just got an interview invite!! What was weird though is that the invite email said they had been attempting to contact me to schedule an interview- but I never received an email from them (checked spam and deleted messages.) Do I have any shot of getting in this late in the game? It's my first choice school!

My stats are average, instate, top 10 school.

I REALLY want to go here but I'm worried that interviewing first week of March may put me at a disadvantage. Frustrating because I never got the first interview email! Anyone know how many spots are still open?

this has been discussed briefly in this thread, but just to confirm, there is no deposit, correct? my friend mailed his form to accept the place in the class and then got an email saying they're holding his place in the class. so he's all set, right?

i know this sounds dumb but i just want to make sure. thanks.

you're correct - no deposit. as long as he mailed in a written letter accepting his spot, he's good to go.

Hey Everyone,

First, Congrats on your acceptance to RWJ! (If you’re still on the waitlist do not give up hope!).

My name is Steve, and I am one of the 4th years at RWJ. I will (hopefully) be matching in Rad Onc this coming spring. If you have any questions about RWJ education/life, please let me know.

I realize this is early for housing, but I know some people like to get a head start.

My wife and I bought a place when we came to medical school, and we are looking to rent it or sell it to other RWJ students. We put a lot of time and effort into redoing this place, so we are hoping to rent or sell it to the right people.

It is located at Society Hill, Piscataway.

2-bedroom/2-bathroom
~1200 Sq Ft.
5 min drive Piscataway Campus/12 min drive New Brunswick (RWJ Hospital)

Within the Past 4.5 yrs the following listed are just some of the new additions/renovations:

Custom Closets from the Elfa Collection from the “Container Store” (designed by my wife who is a fashion designer) (maximizes space/very functional)

New appliances (Stainless steel appliances, new washer/dryer)
Redone bathrooms/showers (new sinks/tile, etc)

New Eco-Friendly Windows (keeps electric bills low)
Oak Wood Floor in Master Bedroom

Granite Countertops
Repainted every room

Move in ready if so desired / Furniture is up for discussion. Move in date June 1st.

$1600 for the unit. $900 for the Master/$700 for the other room.

Utilities (e.g. water, cable) are separate. If interested, please find a buddy to possibly rent with, as we are interested in renting to a “pair.”

If interested in buying, please contact us (serious inquiries only).

If interested, e-mail me: rosenbs1 at umdnj.edu

GOOD LUCK!

Anyone know how much weight the interview holds in the overall process?

Anyone happen to know if the preclinical years are ranked or unranked? I was told that there is no ranking the first two years during my interview, but then during the winter reception someone else mentioned that there is ranking.

Small point, but having unranked preclinicals sounds like it would make school a lot less stressful. As a comparison point, NJMS has ranked preclinical years.

Hi,

So I interviewed yesterday and visiting the school really confirmed that this is my first choice.

Should I send an LOI? Or should I wait until admission decisions go out? I think Meryl said they're meeting tomorrow...

Do you know if they are still sending any interview invites by any chance?

They said they are still sending out invites. Hopefully I hear back soon with any type of decision.
