You got your acceptance today?
Yeah, I'm hoping you were at the top of the top third so they didn't bother to make you wait any longer... I'm super jealous and congrats! Hopefully that doesn't change the normal probabilities of getting in off the first and second tiers. Fingers crossed!Yea I got it today, crazy because I didn't expect them to send acceptances today at all...maybe because they waited SO long to release the waitlist, and by the time they released it today they were able to make some offers to those they would have put on the upper tier like me?? But to answer the question as to what I did to improve my app, I basically got a lot more paid clinical experience and did more shadowing and volunteering. Also my interview was terrible last year and went much much better this year. Good luck to you guys, really. I know how it feels to wait.
I don't think so. Historically only times it went down to lower tier were 2010 and 2008. right? And even then, it was only one or two from the lower tier. So I say maybe top one or two from the low tier has a slight chance, while rest of us have almost zero chance. I'm low tier too.bottom 3rd tier- chances not so good, huh?

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what's up with that? It doesn't make sense statistically. No kidding

I was told that each tier has 45 people. Granted, that was second hand information, but it was from a reliable source.
That seems like a lot. Are they really concerned that their yield would be so poor that they'd have to get that many from the WL?
How many students were accepted? Didn't they over-accept to already deal with some aspect of yield?
Of those who were upper tier, what do you attribute to your status?
If you're lower tier, what do you attribute to your status?
lowish MCAT (or low score in one section)? lowish GPA? late supplemental completion? OOS?

I'm an IS applicant with a 4.0/31. Bottom tier of waitlist. Luckily I've been accepted to South, though. Wish everyone the best.
This all makes me kinda wonder, though. Interview-wise, the first interview was tough, but I thought the second and third interviews went well --- it was more conversational than hard drilled questions.
I fairly sure my mediocre ECs are what did me in. I know I didn't have any bad LORs (at least 2 really good ones), but I just had minimal volunteering, didn't have any primary care shadowing, and about a year or so of clinical research.
I also wonder if they're trying to lure more OOS people. I know from a pretty good source that the dental school was doing that this year. Obviously, that doesn't mean the med school is, though, either.
I'm blessed to have gotten in somewhere else, though. To everyone else, don't be too discouraged! Something seems a little odd this year; I almost wonder if they will dip further into the waitlist than usual.
I've been told they do, particularly if you meet with the admissions committee and address some of the areas they said were weaker. I was told that reapplying shows your commitment and determination to be a doctor, which are favorable qualities. If I don't get in off the second tier this year, I'm planning to reapply next year.Looks like I need to improve my resume. Do reapplicants have an edge up?
anyone actually optimistic that they will dip down into the 3rd tier?

Nope- especially not bottom of third🙁. And I'm wondering why they make the wait list so long.
I'm honestly hoping that by some miracle, a lot of OOS are on the waitlist and drop. 👎
