My app is still incomplete too, even though the individual parts are all marked as received/complete (including letters). I'm assuming they just need sometime time to finalize all of it?

Unrelated: did anybody have a letter "not accepted" by CCOM even though the instructions say they'll take the first 4? This happened to me last year but it was because I submitted 4 and they were only taking the first 3.

I only submitted three letters this time and had no problems with mine.

I have everything listed as received/completed, including my LOR. File still says incomplete. Interesting!

Same here. I don't think they start sending out II's until the end of August, either, unfortunately. THIS IS KILLER.

Yeah well hopefully we'll be in one of the first groups 🙂

I interviewed in December 2010 right before finals so this time around I hope to be August/September.

Still not verified. At the current rate, I estimate that I'll probably get verified around August 20. I plan on submitting my secondary pretty much the day I get it. When did you all receive secondaries after verification?

Same here. I believe the same thing happened last year, if I'm not mistaken. When did you submit?
I think it's because the payment takes 5 days to show up as received, so maybe that also has to do with the application status? Also, it might be because of the LOR's not being "accepted by CCOM." Don't think it's an issue this early in the application cycle though!

No - my payment has been marked as received already. And all my LORs are accepted.

I was verified back in June so I received my secondary the first or second day Iowa sent them out (can't remember - you can look at the thread history to see what day they came out). I submitted it the day after I received it.

Just got a complete email from Iowa. They say interviews begin in mid-September. Hoping for an II soon!

My application is still marked as incomplete even though I submitted on July 27th. Apparently, my letters are yet to be imported and accepted even though I made them available on the 27th too.
For those of you who already submitted the secondary how long did it take for your letters to be accepted.

Fingers crossed for an II here! OOS 32Q, cGPA 3.62, sGPA 3.58, did undergrad here.

Not sure what my chances are, but Carver is straight up exceptional.

Verified 6/28, received secondary 8/2. OOS 35 cGPA 3.87 sGPA 3.98 average E.Cs

Would love to go to Iowa. Spent tons of time in undergrad in Iowa City with my girlfriend who went to undergrad here

The only thing I dislike about this school is that they only give me 1500 characters to tell them why they are awesome. I could honestly write a page or two stating why they are a perfect fit for me...

I'm OOS and this is a bit of a stretch for me but man, I am becoming really fond of this school.

Oh... and does anyone think shadowing or clinical research would go under the "medical experiences" essay? Not sure what they are defining as medical experience.

I was just going to talk about my volunteering at the children's hospital and then some shadowing. This is the essay that stresses me out the most for Iowa. I've already talked about my volunteering a lot through my PS and it was one of my most meaningful activites. Don't know how much more I can say... Their other essays are pretty typical, but not liking this one..

I received an email stating that they have most of my info (submitted everything on June 5th), but waiting until my MCAT scores come in to evaluate me for a secondary app. Those scores are supposed to come in tomorrow, so here's to hoping for at least a 32.

I'm having the same problem as some of you above- they have everything including my payment and LOR, but it still says incomplete. Submitted on July 27th. For those of you that had this issue, was it ever resolved for you? Thanks!

Still waiting for the "complete" status from Iowa. It's only been about 4-5 days so I'm not worried yet.

Is it okay to call the school "Iowa" in essays. I could use 100 characters just typing "the University of Iowa" or the "Carver College of Medicine" a few times....

Anyone else just say things like ... "The blah blah blah at Iowa is blah blah blah"?

I referred to the school collectively as the Hawkeyes. I almost typed Buckeyes. That would have been bad.

Submitted!!

I word of caution: If you copy and paste the essays in, it seems to get rid of "special" characters such as / & ' etc. so you have to go through and find where it deleted them and add them back in. I actually could not get the "&" sign to work, so I ended up typing it out.

I was just looking at one of the essays that I completed for this school after I submitted the secondary and I noticed that one of the words that I typed must have been autocorrected into something else. Ignorance is bliss.

Submitted my secondary today! I've been a Hawkeye all of my life and I'm hoping to be the 3rd generation of MDs in my family to go through Iowa! Let's go Hawks!

I did not get complete email from them, wtf am I missing?

NM; no email sent: File Status: Your file is COMPLETE

No need to stress over this question. They ask you to list and briefly describe your experiences. Just put it together like you would a resume and you'll be set.

Last year's first II came on august 25th. I wouldn't expect much activity until then...though I'd prefer to be surprised.

I wouldn't hate a surprise. I wish they had an actual status check type of deal, though. Shoot.

I used the abbreviation ccom. I thought it would be obvious that it refers to carver college of medicine. Needed the distinction from CCOM, the medical college, and actually Iowa since I refered to experiences at Iowa.

But yeah, submitted my secondary application yesterday, though still need the e mail that everything is complete. It would be a nice birthday surprise to get an interview invite on my b-day, aug. 25. 🙂

Checked on the status of my secondary app today. As of yesterday, everything has been accepted, payment has posted. Status is still listed as "incomplete", but from what I've read on this thread it sounds like it takes a few days after everything has been turned in and accepted to receive the "complete" email.

Can't wait to receive that interview invite!

This is to inform you that we have received all of your secondary application materials and your file is complete for the MD Program. Please contact the MSTP Office to verify receipt of all MSTP application materials.

Received my "complete" email this morning! 👍
